The Tokyo Giants have officially approved infielder Kazuma Okamoto to enter negotiations with Major League Baseball teams through the posting system.
Okamoto joined the Giants straight out of high school as the team’s first-round draft pick in 2014 and has spent 11 seasons with the club. Over that time, he has compiled a career total of 1,089 hits, with a .277 batting average, 248 home runs, and 717 RBIs.
A consistent power threat and dependable corner infielder, Okamoto has won the Golden Glove Award twice as a third baseman and once as a first baseman.
He captured both the home run and RBI titles in 2020 and 2021, and again claimed the home run crown in 2023, establishing himself as one of Japan’s premier sluggers.
In addition, Okamoto represented Samurai Japan in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, contributing to Japan’s championship victory.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation for everything Okamoto has accomplished in a Giants uniform, and we wish him every success as he takes on this new challenge in his baseball career.
