[盛大な祝賀] ブルージェイズがアメリカンリーグ東地区優勝、アメリカンリーグ地区シリーズ進出 — ジョン・シュナイダーと選手たちの反応

For the seventh time in franchise history, you are division champs. John, I know you were anxious. I think they like the sound of that. You were pretty anxious. You told me before the game. We get now. Hold on. Bring it. Bring it. [Music] You told me you were pretty anxious. Uh, you said you may or may not have had some tummy troubles last night because you were both excited and anxious. When I saw you come out of that dugout, John, you were very emotional. Where are the emotions coming from? I mean, just this this group, right? I want everyone to take a second to recognize the group because, man, it’s [Music] they did it all year. It was not one guy. It was every single person that’s standing right there. So, um, coaches, players, clubhouse guys, trainers, front office, it’s such a collective effort. So, you feel good for so many people. For so many people. Can we actually just send her out? You had some big hits from guys that was kind of scuffling the last few days. Um, can I center out Alejandro Kirk? [Music] Where is that guy? Come on down. [Music] Kirk, with your manager next to you, how much has it meant to you to be able to contribute in such a big game? Kirky. Oh, we won all this this whole year. Uh, this team is unbelievable and we’re we’re very thankful with everybody. Kirk’s been Kirk’s been instrumental behind the plate, at the plate. Never give up on this dude with a bat in his hands. The rotation has been spectacular. Can I just center out a guy who probably would have loved to have better results, but you’re not here without Kevin Gossman. No doubt. No doubt. Kev is the epitome of a pro. You always feel good when you send him to the mound. Um he gave us everything we had today and the bullpen came in and was absolutely nailed. Absolutely. Absolutely. With Alejandro Kirk here, can I just bring out a guy who has been in my opinion an opinion of many Blue Jays fans, the most valuable player for you, George Springer. Come on out, George. Is he being shy? Georgia, don’t be shy, man. You’ve been out here more than me. Come on. We need to help. We need your help to bring George out, everybody. All right. He’s He’s being a little shy right now. Um, I know someone else, uh, the face of this franchise, um, when he’s not where he wants to be at the plate, he’s doing everything else, playing great defense, uh, busting it down the line. Can we all say hello to Vladimir Guerrero Jr.? [Music] Okay, I know these guys are just dying for some champagne. So, with Kirky here and with all the teammates out here. Oh, here we go. Shocker. Shocker. Tarp off, baby. [Applause] [Music] Oh, George. George has the tarp off for the postgame interview. Oh boy. Oh man. George, you’ve been fortunate enough to take part in a lot of postseason celebrations. To do this in what was the best season for you in a Toronto Blue Jay uniform means what? [ __ ] everything. Man, I love this team. I love these boys. We wouldn’t be here without everybody here today, everybody who’s watching. So, thank you for all your support and making this place so fun to play at. Before I let you go, you told me if you won the division that you would be on a policeman’s horse up and down Brener Avenue with the tarp off and the shark flinging. Is that still the plan? Tarp off, police horses ready. Here we [ __ ] go. All right. Congratulations to John Schneider and the American League East Division Toronto Blue Jays. Enjoy, guys. back to you. We will see you on Saturday. Let’s go. Thank you for everything. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Now, this is going to be a celebration. As you said, they didn’t go all out when they clinched a playoff spot. I have a feeling they’re going all out. They’re at home. They don’t have anywhere to be tomorrow. Oh, they got they’ll work out a couple of times this week and get ready, but you know what? They deserve every bit of this celebration with what they did during this season. Yeah. And John Snder, he has done a terrific job. I think he’s the manager of the year in the American League. The way he has brought this team together and utilized everybody on this roster all season long. Contributions from everybody. And how about George Springer? When everybody thought last year was the end for George Springer, he came on Saturday. Yeah. It’ll be a special time. Man, to have those two AL East rivals come in here and play the Division Series Saturday and Sunday, it’s going to be pretty awesome. Yeah, just crazy how it wound up that all three teams from the East wound up on the same side of the draw. 94 wins, the most they have had since 1993. They go 94 and 68. And again, put themselves in a bit of a spot. Had to win the last four games of the regular season to win the division. And they did it. And although this one had some very tense moments, they pulled away at the end and were able to relax a little bit in the last couple of innings. And now, as we have seen some shots there, the strobe lights and whatever else they’ve got going, uh, the party is about to begin. And I suspect it is going to last a while. Yeah, you can bet on it. And that’s actually outside of the clubhouse. And they have had a special party area built for this celebration. And it’s going to be a good one. Time. They won the division. 10 years drought and they have really put together a heck of a season this year. And you know the pickups of Shane Bieber and Sir Anthony Dominguez and Louis Varand and Isaiah Ker Fa, the moves that were made at the deadline. I hope I’m not forgetting anybody. All contributed. I know we sound like a broken record, but every single person wearing one of those division championship t-shirts is a part of this. And everyone has had a special moment in the spotlight. There’s no question about that. Tyler Haniman had a walk-off base hit, his first walk-off anywhere in professional baseball. And everybody has contributed thanks to that guy right there, the skipper. He has made sure that everybody is involved and everybody has a part in this great successful season for the Blue Jays. This buy will get them a little rest, get them allow them time to set up a playoff roster to get a little bit healthier. They certainly know the opponent, whichever one it’s going to be. They know the Yankees and the Red Sox very well. How about if things go as they should, Max Freed and Garren Crochet up against one another in game one of that wild card series. That’s a two out of three. All of the games will be at Yankee Stadium. And again, whoever wins that series will be here on Saturday. And a good thing for the Blue Jays, of course, now they can set up their rotation exactly how they want. Kevin Gosman probably starts game one on Saturday. Shane Bieber starts game two. And then they can decide on whoever they want for game three. Pop and hold. Pop and hold. Premature. Oh boy. Oh boy. You only hold his so long. Don’t move. Don’t move. Everybody in here? Is here. Hey, for one, for one, hey, for everyone in here, everyone in here, congratulations. Congratulations. Okay, that’s a 20 win turnaround from last year to this year. All right, and it’s because of every single one of you guys here. You guys are unbelievable. You’re selfless. I say it all the time. And I said, “The sky is not [ __ ] falling.” And guess what? It [ __ ] didn’t. All right, you guys kept going about it. You did it the right way. Some people said we did it the hard way, but we did it our [ __ ] way. [Applause] [ __ ] you. Another [Applause] one here. [Music] [Applause] [Music] I can’t dance. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] Unbelievable. Kevin Gossman, we’re live on Sports Dead. Congratulations, Kevin. Tell me what’s going through your mind as you watch your teammates celebrate a division crown. Yeah, just excitement. Uncomfortable coldness. Uh, you know, a lot of excitement. Obviously, we kind of put ourselves in a hole. We had to win the last four games, but, you know, we did it. Um, I would have loved to have pitched better today, but you know, I gave it everything I had and the bullpen, you know, really saved us and the guys, you know, Kirky kind of putting the team on the back. I mean, it was, uh, just a great day, honestly. Uh, very exciting for obviously the team, but, you know, organization. It’s been it’s been 10 years. So, um, you know, I know living here, being in Toronto for as long as I have, I know how much everybody still talks about the 15 and 16 teams. So, you know, to win the division here means a little bit more. So, just really excited that we were able to to do it. Kevin, this team is not here without you. What are you most proud about when you look around and see your teammates celebrating? you know, just honestly the young guys, the these young guys, uh, they haven’t acted young. They haven’t complained one time. Whatever’s been asked of them, whether it’s a different position or moving down the lineup, know they’ve done it. Uh, all these guys are very selfless and um, you know, I’m just so proud to be a part of this group. Well, they’re not here without a leader like you. Congratulations. Enjoy tonight. Thank you. All right, Kevin Gosman. [Music] [Music] McDonald. [Music] Here we are with uh Jeff Hoffman. Boy, oh boy. The white panel cats really did the trick. I guess they did, but I don’t think I don’t think it’s anything to do with the hats. I think it’s the the talent and the character of the guys in here. You give them you give them a goal to accomplish and they go get it. And uh you know, we we we had everybody telling us that we weren’t going to do anything this year. And uh we just won series after series, kept stacking them and and look where we are now. Listen, you guys made things interesting this past week. What led you to believe that this team was able to block out all my all the noise all the noise and get the job done? Yeah, I think just knowing that it it was in our own hands the whole time. Um, you know, we we never got into that territory where it was out of our own control and um, you know, we just we had the task in front of us and and we’re we’re a group that takes that very seriously. Congratulations, Jeff. More to come. Enjoy this one. Thank you. Thank you. Let’s see if we can find Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Bobette. Let’s see who can wade through all this. [Applause] [Music] It’s right there. Right there. [Music] Sorry, [Music] Flatty, we’re live on SportsNet. Flatty, this team all season never showed panic at all. What is it about your teammates where there wasn’t any, you know, panic in getting the job done? I mean, we believe in each other, you know, and I said it four days ago. We focus one day at a time and uh thank God we did it. We we throw each other and we believe in God. You know what I believe in God and uh to me that’s God give you that us. You see last year, last year nobody talk about us. This year nobody talk about us and we win the division. So to me that’s God’s plan. At what point of the season was there a particular moment or a game where you thought you know what it’s different this year? I say the spring training spring training everybody was working hard everybody was early in the field and when you see a a young guy come earlier to the field and leaving late that that means a lot. Congratulations Vlatty. Enjoy these next few days. Thank you. Well, first of all, Hazel’s doing an unbelievable job in there. This is not an easy assignment, just as Ardan did in Kansas City a few days ago. But again, we can see this is a different level of celebration, a different level of excitement and happiness. It is not easy to win any division, especially the American League East. And as John Schneider said, to win 20 more games than they won last year is a very significant accomplishment. The party is on. Here’s Hazel again. Thanks very much. Here with future Hall of Famer Max Scherzer. This is nothing new to you, Mr. Scherzer. Yeah. No, every time it’s it’s just as good. Uh this is why I love the game. When you get to these spots, you you’re with your with all your boys winning baseball games. There’s just nothing like it. Uh I can’t describe it. This one’s awesome. You’ve been on very very talented teams. What’s been the common denominator? What do you see that’s similar with this group? Uh, it’s a team, the aspect, the clubhouse, the way we play ball. It’s it’s a tight-knit group. We find ways to help each other out. Everybody does the role and everybody finds a way to win. All right. Congratulations, Max. Enjoy. Thank you. All right, guys. Max Sher excited to be back at it again. I think this is the ninth time that he is going to the postseason and again from the 41year-old down to the 22y olds and everything in between everybody contributed. Back to Hazel. [Applause] [Music] All right, we’re here with Bo Bashette. I think my IFB just conked out. So, here we go. Bo, when you’re watching these guys and you have been such a huge part of how you’ve been able to get here, tell me what’s going through your mind as there you guys are celebrating on the field. I mean, these guys are so easy to root for. So, um yeah, I’m just just pumped and um excited to watch them do their thing. What was so different about this season and the way you guys approached the year? Um I think we became a brotherhood. Um and um there was one common goal was winning and everybody showed up to do that. So just um really cool to be a part of this team. Congratulations. We’ll see you soon. All righty. Thanks. [Music] And that’ll be one of the big storylines. Bob Bashette out the last three weeks with an injury. He is hitting but not hitting live BP. He hasn’t started running the bases yet. It seems unlikely that 6 days is enough to get him back. Maybe not. Or hopefully they advance around and get him back with the LCS. Everybody would love to see Bobette be a part of this. Back down to Hazel here with Dalton Barau, another top tarp off guy to see George Springer go out there and get the kind of ovation that he got. You’re such a good friend of his. What’s going through your mind as you’re seeing him celebrate at 36 years old one of his best seasons in the majors? He’s a little kid. and he enjoys what he does. It’s just so fun to see him kind of to have the year he had after last year and I think a couple years he’s had here and just show everybody who he was because when he was in Houston, I played against him. It was very very uh electric I would say. Um it’s just fun to see him back to who he was, but he hasn’t changed his personality at all when it’s been going bad, when it’s going good. Before I let you go, your teammates are going to head out here. uh you’ve been through so much adversity and for you to still come up with incredible numbers. Um how satisfying is that as you look back as how hard you’ve worked to get to where you are? Yeah, I can’t thank enough people. I mean, there’s so many people that helped me out this year and uh it’s just one of those things where Yeah, it was a it was a shitty year, let’s be honest, with injuries, but it’s one of those things where you kind of uh understand what you’re doing at this point in your career and you want to help the team any way I could and I did it. All right, enjoy. I know you guys are going to go take photos. We’ll see you Ed. Thank you. And Buck, when you talk about big moments this team had this year, that grand slam by Dalton Varo on Thursday against the Red Sox, they were still they had a loss six out of seven and they were they hadn’t scored yet in that game. It was the sixth inning. That grand slam by Baro, one of the biggest moments they’ve had all year. No question. and he came up big time in a scoreless ball game to spark a six-run inning in the sixth inning and that got them turned around. That kind of allowed all the players to take a deep breath and say, “Okay, we’re all right again.” Because after they clinched the postseason appearance in Kansas City, that was a little bit of an emotional let down. Okay, now we’re in. But it’s hard to gain that momentum back, but that partial home run really keyed things. And then today to be able to see Alejandro Kirk have the kind of game he had in the first inning hitting the grand slam having a double in his neck at back. Dan, I’m here with Davis Schneider. Davis, I mean, this can be one of the easiest things to do doing this live interview with your teammates watching you. Tell me about this group of guys. Oh, it’s special. Every everyone on the on the whole team, you know, they they have a job and they do it all together. And I feel like this is one of the best teams in the league. Hey, we just have a bunch of group of guys that play for each other and you know, they’re just great human beings first and foremost and that’s what makes a good ball club is just great guys that love being around each other. When you had envisioned um a division crown, what were you thinking and how does this compare? I mean, this is what you play for. You want to you want to play to win the division first and foremost. Obviously, the World Series is the number one thing, but you know, you got to start somewhere and this is one of the best places to play and Toronto fans are, you know, the best in the world. Toronto fans love the roomies. So, as I say thank you to you, let’s find one of your roomies, Ernie Clement. Where’s Ernie? Ernie, Ernie, come on. We’re live on Sports Net. Where is he? Ernie Clement, this has been such a huge season for you both on and off the field and throughout all the trials and tribulations, you always had a huge smile on your face. [Applause] Well, what kept you going? What kept you positive when things sometimes weren’t going your way? You know, it’s nice to come home to uh you know, Davis cooking dinner and um you know, a nice warm meal always helps. uh home-cooked. He does a hell of a job. But um I I just love every one of these guys. I love every one of them. You do love every one of these guys. Uh let me see if is Chris Basset around. Where is Where’s Chris Basset? Chris Basset, where are you? Chris Basset. Chris Basset. Chris Basset, you said to me. Oh, he wants the mic. Why don’t you address the Blue Jays fans that are waiting to hear from Sebath? Hey, first and foremost to all of y’all doubting, not anyone here obviously, but what now? Like this is the best division in baseball. We win it. First thing first, let’s go get it. [Music] Okay, they’re going to take their team photo. So once again, let’s hear it for your American League East Division champion, the Toronto Blue Jays. [Music] They are having fun down there. And again, this is just beginning. I thought it was great they celebrated with the grounds crew. That was awesome. And it shows you the kind of guys that they are. And you and I get to see on the road, especially behind the scenes, the coaches and the staff. There are so many people who are not household names, whose faces are not wellknown, who are working tirelessly. It, you know, obviously a Pete Walker and a David Hopkins and a Mark Budzinski and a Carlos Fabas and a Don Mattingly and a Demarlo Hail, but it goes so far beyond those guys as well. That’s Sam Green and Graham Johnson, two of the uh the members of the pitching staff. And how many people have to be successful in order for you to win? I mean, not only the coaches, but the players, the training staff, and everybody. It’s a unified effort for sure. And you know, there’s not one guy that’s going to win a championship for you. It’s a team effort. And we have seen great players that are on great teams, but they don’t have the support of the teammates around them. This team supports one another like none I’ve ever seen. This to me, as I’ve said time and time again, this is the best group of players I’ve ever seen in this franchise organization going all the way back to 77. Couldn’t agree with you more. And you can see it even if you’re just new to the team and uh and watching them a lot more now with how well they have been doing. You can see how much they like one another. Mark Shapyro there, Ross Atkins, the the moves made in the offse and during the season. Um, they’ve got to be feeling uh as proud as can be as well because not a lot of people thought this was in the cards this year. Everybody thought the Yankees are going to run away with it because all of their star players and now the players are going to share this moment with their families and their kids are all on the field together. This is another thing the Blue Jays do better than any organization I know. They incorporate the families into the baseball team as well. Everybody feels a part of it. The wives are here, the kids are here, the families are here, fathers-in-law, mothersin-law, cousins, everybody is enjoying this. And the Blue Jays really emphasize the families, that’s for sure. George Springer, one of the proud papas on this team. There are there are a lot of players in their 30s. There are a lot of kids. A lot of kids. Yeah. A lot of kids on this team. Shane Bieber and his wife have a a young one. That’s right. The families are a big part of this and they sacrifice so much because the players have to be on the road. They have to be away from their families and you see everybody enjoying it and this is what it’s all about. I can remember when my wife came in the clubhouse for the first time in 1985 before wives were ever allowed in the clubhouse. They came in and now that tradition continues here with the Blue Jays. Wonderful stuff. And you can see just the absolute joy on the faces uh of all of the players having accomplished one of their major goals. Yep. Absolutely. And you know what? This is such a great place to play. I think everybody that is here for the first time now beginning to understand what a great organization it is, what a great fan base it is, and how you literally playing for an entire country. Nobody can experience it like the Blue Jays players. You know, a guy like Tommy Nance, who spent the first three and a half months with the Miners, came out, got big out after big out for this team. The moments that Alejandro Kirk experienced today, a curtain call, and then another couple more huge ovations. On and on and on it goes. And uh the the story of this team is the is the selflessness, is the camaraderie, is how everybody contributed and hopefully they can keep it rolling heading into October. And you know what, there’s so many friends on this team and guys that have played on other teams in the past, as Chris Basset recommended to Max Sher, you should come to Toronto. This is a special place and we have a chance to win. And Max said his kids told him, “Dad, go back and play one more time. We want to win the championship one more time. So, you can hear it every time you talk to Max Sherzer, how much he loves the game and how much he loves experiencing these things with his teammates. And it’s just a wonderful opportunity for everybody in this organization to experience this one more time. Now, he’s just trying to corral four young kids for a family photo. He’s got his hands full right now. That’s awesome. He’s done it before. He has two World Series wings to his credit and he’s looking for a third. You know, Dalton Vo talking about the ups and the downs of the season, right? Coming off shoulder surgery, then the hamstring injury that cost him a couple of months, a tough year for him personally, but to come back and to be as big a part of this as we all knew he would be if he were healthy. And you can see the smile on his face. You could hear it in his voice when he was talking to Hazel. Ty France picked up at the deadline. Uh-oh. Uh-oh. Little VO is not really in a celebratory mood right now, but that’ll come along. N there’s a lot going on down there for the young kids, but at the same time, you know, when you talk about Dalton Bar, he’s had such a great season. And you mentioned that grand slam he did against the Red Sox turned things around. George Springer, I mean, here’s a guy that’s been a World Series MVP, enjoying it like this was his first celebration ever. and he’s 36 years old. Had a phenomenal season and he’s sharing it with his family and his kids for sure. And they hope just the beginning. They will get a few days off to regroup and get ready to take on either the Yankees or the Red Sox in a division series. But congratulations to all with the Toronto Blue Jays, the champions of the American League East Division. I’m just thankful to be here. It’s uh just getting every opportunity, running with it, and then uh hopefully never having to see a bus again, being being on the planes is so much better. But uh just loving every second of it. And you have a beautiful beautiful baby. You’ve got two, but a newborn. And you and I have talked a lot about how you felt this extra pressure really um because you’re playing not just for you but for four now. So when you think about your beautiful babies, it’s it’s mayhem. It’s mayhem in in the best possible way. I mean when you think about the people that stood by you, particularly your family, I mean can you put put that into words? I mean, I I own everything from my parents starting it all, from my brother pushing me, and then uh now my wife just holding down the fort. It’s uh I love them all. Listen, it couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. Congratulations. Enjoy the next few days. We will see you, champ. Thank you. All right, Nathan Lucas, guys. Back to you. Miles Straw, one of the unsung heroes of this season. Last year was a tough year for you. You told me you almost quit baseball and to be standing here as a division champion. I mean, I can’t even imagine what’s been going through your mind during the celebration. Yeah. I mean, this all every single guy in this building brought love back to the game for me. So, uh I mean it’s so special. I mean, I think about every single day that we went through from day one in spring training and uh I’m just very very fortunate to to be here today. Honestly, I really am. Everybody keeps saying how tight and close-knit you guys are. How does that look like in the clubhouse? What are you guys doing? What are you guys saying? Um, you’re playing cards. Yeah. I mean, we’re doing everything together. We’re talking We’re talking smack to each other. We’re giving each other some love. I mean, it’s what you do when you really love people. So, uh, I mean, these are all people I’m going to talk to forever. I mean, that’s not like that on all teams, but this is a really tight group and I’ll be in touch with these guys for a long, long time. if not forever. John Schneider keeps talking about how you really come through and sacrificed yourself offensively. You’re making unbelievable defensive catches. Everything seems to be coming together. Why do you think that is? Uh I mean just trying to get all the effort I can for the boys and that’s what we all do. That’s what it takes to win and uh I mean yeah it’s just it’s awesome. We’re really happy for you Miles. Congratulations. Let’s go. Let’s go. Feel good. You know feel good but Gabby is not finished. job is not finished. Uh we got to continue uh play hard and play the the good baseball. What was it like that the last ball of the game hit to you? Uh I I was wanting I was wanting I was wanting for that grand ball and when I saw that grand boy I said I had to get that ball and same guy did it. Glad this is your first division title since you’ve got here. What is the last five years, six years to get to here? What does it mean to you? I mean it’s a lot of up and down the losing crying happening but thank God we did it this year. Who’s having the most fun? Everybody. Everybody. You have to enjoy yourself. We are the division champs. You know you you have to enjoy yourself. What’s the biggest difference between this team and last year’s team? One year. This year we believe everybody in the show, you know. Uh it’s a team. It’s not one one people you know. And uh I think that’s the difference. How does it feel to see Turkey have a day like that? Great. Great. Especially the last day of the season, you know. And uh we we never think it’s going to be the last of the season, you know, but to to us is like we we we always say enjoy and uh have fun. And that’s what we do today. Enjoy and have fun. How big do you think these five days off going into the division series will be for you guys? I mean, it’s good. You know, it’s good. Uh but to us we not think about that. We think about the winning division. Whatever happened happen you know and thank God we did it. What was the feeling like in the daga when the game got close when it was 54 there before you started scoring again? Nothing. We say we’re still winning. You know we’re still winning and uh we never look the Yankee game. We’re still winning. That’s what I say. Every time I come to the field I just say we’re still winning. Let’s go and let’s run. And uh thank God we we we we did it good. The season that George has had all season from George. How important has he been to what you guys have achieved? That’s him, man. That’s him, you know. Uh we believe in each other. That’s him. Uh he always been like that, you know, and uh to me saw him hit him in front of me, that’s that made me special. That made me happy for him. You guys not only have the division, it’s the best record in the league. Now home field. How important is that? It’s good, but the job is not finished. Job is not finished. So I feel good and uh tomorrow I’m going feel great but just not finished. How does the extra win help you guys? Uh help a little bit but we don’t think about that. Just we we think about uh win the division and thank God we did it after how hard last year was. How much did this mean to you? H means a lot. You know we finished the last place last year the second last place but to us we finished the first. So that made me feel happy. of the changes that you guys made that allowed you guys to get to this I say uh we all together that that the only I can say everybody together and we do a lot of stuff together so to me that’s that’s good help not a lot you know we think about a team we not think about himself No.
