Yankees vs. Rangers Game Highlights (8/4/25) | MLB Highlights

The Rangers and Yankees. And it’s not just all for show. These two teams are fighting for the playoffs. If the Rangers sweep the Yankees over the next three games, they’ll leaprog the Yankees. A huge one for Patrick Corbin. Rangers will be looking for him to pitch a good game against a team that loves to face lefties. Paul Goldmid will lead things off. Goldmid has absolutely nashed lefties this season as Goldmid starts it the right way. Goodbye. Ends the 29game homeless streak and gives the Yankees a one- nothing lead. You see a veteran hitter hit one like that when he’s gone through a long drought, it’s almost like the light bulb effect. You think maybe that can happen for him. He continues to pound left-handers. Rosario hitting .275, five homers and 18 runs batted in. Rosario lines that into right center. That’s going to get down and roll to the wall. Rosario into second and a good start here for the Yankees. So one away and here is Jan Carlos Stanton. Rosario at second. Corbin’s 3-2 and that is in. He loses. Stanton places two Yankees out there now for Austin Slater. Bouncer to short. Throw to second will be the only out they get. Stanton retired on the fielders choice. And I think Slater might have tweaked something. Yeah, checking his legs there. We’re going to get a get a a visit from the trainer and Aaron Boon right now. Reaching for his left hamstring getting his first start. And right away first start with the Yanks and you could see the frustration for Austin Slater after what looked like a hamstring tweak for Slater. So Dominguez comes in for Slater. Chisum walks on four pitches. So the bases are loaded and here comes Mike Maddox. This is a huge spot in this game and Vali comes up big here. You could put Texas in a hole with Max Breed on the mound. That is a big deal right here. Two balls, two strikes. Here we come. Got him swinging. What a big strike out for Patrick Corbin to get out an awfully messy first inning. Yankees throwing their best. One of the best in the game, Max Freed. He’s 10 and one with a 1.68 RA following Yankees losses this year. Hagerty batting right against the lefty. Swinging a miss. Got him with a nasty cutter and Hagerty is down on strikes. One, two, three, go. for the Rangers against Freed in the first. To the second we go. Well, here’s Wells. Wells pokes a base hit through the vacated left side and Austin Wells is on with a leadoff single. Paul Goldman back up. Game one down as Goldman rips that into left center. That is a base hit. That’ll go to the wall. Austin Wells will park it at third. It’s a double for Paul Goldmid. And a very productive first two at bats for the veteran first baseman with one out runners at second and third. Here’s Ahmed Rosario. Huge spot here for the Yankees. Fisted up the middle into center field. A base hit. Wells will score. Goldmid stops at third. It’s an RBI single for Amed Rosario. And the Yankees have a two nothing lead. Goldid at third. Rosario at first. Here is Bellinger. That is lined in the left. That’ll get down for a base hit. Scoring is Goldmid. It’s a three nothing Yankees lead. Wild pitch puts Rosario at third. Bellinger at second base. Intentional pass given to Stanton. So the bases are loaded. Jason Dominguez who get his first at bat. One two and there’s a swing and a miss. Two away. Big second out. So here is Jazz. And that is lifted out to left field. Hangs up for Hagerty and he makes a catch and the inning is done. But the Yankees put off two more runs. Have a three nothing lead through one and a half. So Adolei’s out on strikes for the first out. Brings up Wyatt Langford. Rangers can get a couple guys on in a big swing. We can have a new ball game here. And that ball’s hit hard down the left field line. And that one is in there for a base hit. He’ll hustle to second and Langford with a one out double. Well, that’s what the Rangers needed right here. So Josh Young the 3-2 that misses low ball four. So Young heads to first and the Rangers will get that tying run to the plate in the second inning. One out. Smith coming up and Smith shoots that up the middle. That’s a base hit. Langford around third. They’ll wave him. He’ll score without a throw. Boy, is that a big hit for Smith. Get a run back early in this one. It’s three to one by Jazz Chisum. Scores Langford easily. First and second, one out. What a big answer here of momentum. And now Jonah. Here comes the O2 pitch. And that one is hit on the ground right side. A diving smother by Chisum. No throw. Everybody’s safe. So the bases are loaded now in the second inning. Boy, has this been a huge turn. They’ve got three runners out there now for Ezekiel Durant. The first pitch to him. And he hits it on the ground and that’s throw base hit. Two runs will score. It’s a new game. Woo! We could be in for some kind of week here. And the Rangers have tied this sucker up quickly. Two two pitch and that’s out towards center field. And that’s down for a base hit. And Heim will stop at third. Base is loaded now for Cory Seager. A spin and a throw back to second. That one goes into center field and the Rangers have taken the lead and it’s four to three. Rangers score. Take the lead. Fourun second and a bouncer right side picked up by Chisum. They’ll get to Vulpi at second base for the one out. Flying off of third base. There’s a swing and a fly ball to center. Not going to carry though. Bellinger gets to it and the inning is over. What a half inning for the Rangers. Stanton who has walked twice today. Goldid’s going to scoot to second. Stanton absolutely hammers that to center field. It has the height and it is gone. A laser and the Yankees take the lead back. Time will stop at second, but Durant is now two for two and Freed back in some trouble. It’s not what Max Freed was looking for after being given back the lead here. Now you got first and second, nobody out. You’re going to have to go to work. Tapped Weekly back to Freed will go to first and get the out as the other runners advance. One down. Seager 0 for two. Well, there it was. Gorgeous sweeper. Maybe the best two breaking balls he’s thrown all night. Get Seager. Here’s Simeon. They get back here. 3-2. Hit hard. Vulpi. What a stop to his feet. Dug up by Goldmid for the out. Vi stayed with it. Went down on a knee. Got up and threw him out. Nice play. And that preserves a 54 Yankee leaves. And Freed has been able to navigate a few damaging innings since. Now trying to get through the fifth. Swing and a miss. Garcia strikes out for a third time. Another one. Two. in there. Strike three. Got him with a cutter. Six strike out for Freed. Two down. Two-2. He got him. Freed strikes out three in the inning. What is probably his last inning a word. Sixth inning. John Gray starts his third inning of relief. Paul Goldmid who is up. Gray delivers. Bouncer to first base. Durant backs up. Feeds Gray as Trent Gisham will bat here for Rosario. Two two pitch. and he flares that one out to second. Caught out there by Simeon. Well, it wasn’t hit hard. Simeon times his jumps like he’s back playing basketball in California and high school right there. So now Stanton another one two and a swing and a miss. He got him. Got him with a fast ball and the inning is over. Gray strands another Yankee. Gray out for an eighth inning now. Came in the game of the fourth. This will be his fifth inning in relief. a strike throwing machine. Wells first up. He’s the number eight hitter. Well, there’s strike three call. Boy, he just came right after Austin Wells and gets him on three pitches. Well, Kabi is going to be lifted for a hitter here as McMahon will hit for him. Comebacker by the m back of second base for it though is Seager. He throws out McMahon. Two up, two down. Now Goldman, he’s a tough guy to strike out. Chokes up a little bit here. That looked good. Strike three called. Goldid down looking. A 10 pitch. Eighth inning for John Gray. He’s getting better by the inning. John Gray goes five innings tonight and it’s 15 outs. Six of them four seam. Five of them on the slider. Four of them on the change up. Really used his whole arsenal arsenal tonight. He leaves this game down one. They’ll give Peterson a chance here. 126 batting average. Stunning. Those numbers are absolutely stunning from Jock Peterson. And he hits that ball well deep out to right. It’s gone. May wonders never cease. It is tied in the ninth on the bat of Jock Peterson. Yankees have been the best team in the majors in extras at home and the worst on the road. Danny Koul is on in the 10th inning. This is a it’s been a wild one here tonight. We’ll have Dominguez on second base. We’ll see if Chisum squares around here. Pitch. There’s a bouncer up the middle. Seager has it. It does advance the runner. Chisum retired. Dominguez now at third base. And now Vulpi trying to plate Dominguez with the infield in. And it is full on the Yankee shortstop. 3-2. It’s a little bit low. So Vulpi is aboard. First and third for the Yanks. Want to keep the double play in order. One strike pitch. Bouncer back to the mound. Koul to second. One on the first. Two. Double play. Koul with a scoreless 10. Two away and they are going to walk Langford to face Young. And there’s a swing and a fly ball deep out to left. That one is gone. Josh Young did it. Who do you want to pitch to? Another gut punch loss. And the Yankees suffering continues.
