REACTION: Yankees Trade for Amed Rosario
Just wanted to talk that’s all. It’s just a reaction. How’s it going everybody? Coming to you live here on a Saturday night live. It is Saturday night and the Yankees have made a deal with the Washington Nationals. They’ve picked up yet another third baseman. Uh this time Amed Amed Rosario. Uh he is a 29year-old right-handed hitting third baseman. He mashes lefties. I’m going to pull up his numbers real quick. Uh he he just absolutely torches lefties now. He’s only had 148 at bats this year, only had 346 last year, but the metrics are pretty good. He doesn’t strike out a lot. Not a great defender. Uh he hits the ball hard. Uh he has pretty good bat speed. he squares the ball up well enough, but I feel like this might be kind of a platoon scenario uh with um McMahon who made his debut today, Ryan McMahon. Now, the Yankees traded Clayton Beer, who was the guy that they uh got back for Joey Gallow, who has never really been all that impressive with the Yankees, 14.73 ERA this year. And they traded a young guy named Brown Martinez, who is 18 years old and is hitting 404 at rookie ball. So, I mean, that’s the deal. It’s not a a humongous deal. Rosario has good speed. Uh, so that will obviously help the team out a little bit. I don’t think it moves the needle a ton. Yankees obviously trying to get better in incremental ways. And you may notice that my my studio is a little bit in disarray. I ask you to forgive me for that. I was in the process right now of uh cleaning it up and reworking it. You see that the wallpaper doesn’t match. So, I’m I’m actually in the process of redoing all that. So, I’m sure you guys don’t care about that. But that’s why it looks weird and that’s why I’m dressed the way I’m dressed with my Patrick sees style uh chest hair hanging out. But let me know in the comment what in the comments what you think about this deal. Uh this probably spells the end for Oswald PZA. I would say Yorbbit Vivas already got sent down uh and Rosario probably fills PZA’s spot. be interesting to see if he gets DF8 or if he’s part of a trade somewhere. I do think that the Yankees will make more deals before the deadline, but I don’t think that they’re going to get any like superstar quality players. I think they’re going to continue to make moves like they got with McMahon and Rosario that try and move the needle a little bit in deficient areas. Right. With with McMahon, they improve their defense at third base. with Rosario. They get another right-handed bat who hits lefties pretty well. Lefties have been tough on the Yankees. So, again, not an enormous needle mover. Um, David Hayes says, “How was Fantastic Four?” I got to say, I loved it. And I don’t typically like the Fantastic Four movies. I went with my buddy and and it was it was it felt like almost like a reboot. I guess it was uh you know, different actors and all that all that stuff, but it it I liked it better than Superman. I’ll be honest with you. Uh Joseph Joseph Bazarnick says, “Now go get relievers.” 100% agree. The bullpen has been atrocious lately. It’s just been a horrendous in every way imaginable. And today was another example. Yankees continuously giving up 9, 10, 12 runs a game. That just cannot continue. Uh and and if you expect to make the playoffs in the postseason, the bullpen is arguably the most important part of the team. I mean, defense, pitching, hitting with runners in scoring position, all the things that the Yankees have not done well are things that you need to do well in the postseason. Now, you can homer your way through the postseason if you get the the right guy hot at the right time. You know, a John Carlos Stanton getting hot in the postseason can help you a lot. and Aaron Judge coming back and being healthy in the postseason and crushing the baseball can help you a lot, but you still got to be able to get those high leverage outs in the game. So, if I’m Cashman, I’m focusing on pitching and I’m going to get the best relievers that I can. Uh, and I don’t, you know, I don’t know who’s out there that is getable for the type of prospects the Yankees are willing to deal. So, uh, JD says, “Is Spencer Jones coming up?” I have not seen whether or not he’ll be up. There has not been a corresponding move for Judge going on the IIL that I’m aware of. But again, I was at the movies and then I was cleaning up my studios. So, I haven’t had a chance to dive into my usual baseball news. I actually found out about this trade from my guy Aiden uh who typically is the first person to text me when uh when a trade goes down. He says, “Yeah, Rosario’s cool.” And I’m like, “The only way he would be saying that is if the Yankees got him.” So, I immediately went to Twitter and I saw Jack Curry’s note uh because I had my notifications off while I was listening to a podcast. But by the way, Billy Joel podcast uh on the Club Random, fantastic, phenomenal podcast. Uh and um yeah, I was enjoying the hell out of it. But I’m going to get back to cleaning up this studio so it doesn’t look horrible tomorrow when we do our live show. But welcome to the Yankees. Amed Rosario. Apparently, uh Jack Curry is saying that Jones isn’t coming up. That doesn’t surprise me. Yankees really don’t have a spot for him right now. Uh but you know if they move Gisham or somebody at the deadline you know then maybe things you maybe the calculus changes on that but um Yankees made their second move of the deadline. I’m sure there will be more to come over the next five days and we’ll be here when it does. Catch you then.
