LOS ANGELES DODGERS VS SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS ⚾ MLB Score Game Play-by-Play – JUL 12, 2025

go down every year. Um, you’re seeing a smaller sample size of power throughout the league. Um, you’re seeing a lower batting average throughout the league year after year as these obviously pitchers continue to develop and pitchers have been nasty for years, but it’s it’s almost starting it’s to the point where 100 miles an hour is normal now. So, it’s like I said, it’s taken a little bit of a offensive hit for the big leagues and I I think that’s why MLB wants to make this move to the automatic strike zone. And um you get guys in the zone a little more. When guys are in the zone, what happens? Guys hit the ball. And when guys hit the ball, fans are happy. Um but yeah, I don’t I don’t think it’s I don’t think it’s going to alter the game too much. I I do think, like I said, though, I think it just brings a little fairness to both sides of the ball. All right, before I let you go, that was incredible insight on what’s to come. The future may be closer than we ever thought. You and the baseball season, it’s a grind. I’m not going to ask you, are you having fun? But are you enjoying the grind? Yeah, it’s it’s still baseball. It’s um things haven’t went the perfect way for me um as far as results, numbers, stuff like that. It’s like I said, it’s baseball. It’s I I tell myself every day uh when I put my head on the pillow, when I get up out of bed, it’s I want things like this to happen now so I can learn from them. It’s I’m I just turned 24 years old. It’s I got a lot of time in this game in the future and I don’t have much time being here. So, if there’s a time to learn, it’s now. And the role that I’m in allows me to learn a lot easier than being thrown into the fire trying to lead a team to win a World Series. [Applause] The beauty of this jersey is the feel, the texture, the thin, the stitching, uh, is heavy, so you kind of feel that jersey that was very heavy. Check it out. The last name and the number, they they have a little glitter on them, so they they kind of stack up. It just feels right. I had some really cool pleats to go with it. The way it gets dirty when you slide, it just kind of like rubs off on that glitter. It’s really really cool. Well, we certainly served it up over the plate. This is a burger fit for a home run king. He faced the Dodgers last month at Dodger Stadium. One and two third innings, six runs, four hits, walked five in a loss. Show Otani on the mound. 31-year-old right-hander making his fifth start. Worked up to two innings in his last start against the Astros on July 5th. Allowed only one hit while striking out three. Has not allowed a run since his debut back on June 20 or June 16th. Facing the Giants for the third time in his career while on the mound. Holds a 1 and0 record with a sub one RA. This will be the first time Otani has pitched at Oracle Park in San Francisco. With more we go back out to the booth. Tim never Rick Monday. Guys, Tim Show Otani back on the hill. He’s been really good and today the mission for him is to get out of two innings, get him into three. The most pitches he’s thrown in a game so far, 31. And Dave Roberts really would love to see him go three full innings as they continue to slow play him back into a full-blown rotation. I think his command, Tim, has been rather remarkable in coming back in. Yes, they’re they’re just kind of dipping his toe um into the bay, if you will, here this afternoon to be able to get it. But his command of different pitches has been from my standpoint has been rather electric and fun to watch. Then he turns it around and and he picks up the bat. He’ll pick up the bat first before he takes the mound today. Dodgers need to do a better job. They started doing a better job last night. Runners in scored position. They were four for 10, but they have really struggled on this road trip hitting just 174 in that spot at least coming into today’s game. And facing Landon RP, what they did on the 14th of June back at Dodger Stadium was lay off the curveball. They only swung at one of his 11 curve balls and two of his nine changers. So if they can stay off the off speed stuff, look for the hard stuff and drive it into the gaps here today, that could be a key to victory. Landon RP the right-hander against Shi Otani with EMTT Sheen to back him up. Dodgers Giants coming up from Oracle Park in San Francisco on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon, Tim. All right, thank you guys. Dodgers start the day 56 and 39. Losers of seven in a row. Giants four games back in the division. Padres’s four and a half games back in the NL West. You know, it was a special time in my life. 7 years with the team and this jersey in particular, 2018 postseason patch on it here. So, I’ve always kept all these jerseys with the patch on them because that’s what it’s all about is getting to the playoffs and trying to win the championship. you know, the black jersey with the cutoff. Not a lot of teams rock the cutoff anymore, but this is a jersey we wore all the time in Colorado [Music] and a half in front of San Diego in the National League Western Division. And for the Dodgers, 56 wins and 39 losses in 2025. Here’s Dave Roberts starting lineup. It’ll be Show Otani in a dualpurpose role today. not only the designated hitter, but Otani is the starting pitcher for the Dodgers. It’ll be limited action, but Otani will lead things off as the hitter. Mookie Betts, batting second and playing at shortstop. Freddy Freeman is at first. Deoscar Hernandez, batting fourth and playing in right field. Michael Conforto, who homered last night, is in left. In center is Andy Pahz. Is Kim is at second base. Tommy Edmund, the switch hitter, is at third. And behind the plate and doing the catching is Dalton rushing. Rushing will bat in the nine spot. For Otani overall, the fifth start that he’s had. He’ll be in there maybe two innings depending upon pitch count and workload. And as Landon R on the mound for the San Francisco Giants. The umpiring assignments. Mike Eserbuk will work the plate to call the balls of strikes. John Bacon is at first. Crew chief Laz Dia is at second and Brian Norora is over at third. We’ll have the same start times tomorrow. 105 12:00 Morango Casino Dodgers on deck show. Happy to have you with us. All set to go. Game two. Dodgers and Giants over to play. Here’s Tim. Thank you very much. Mo Showers the bat brought to you by Asahi Super Dry Beer embodying the refreshing taste of modern Japan. Go beyond the expected. On the 14th of June, Otani hit a leadoff home run against RU. Here’s the pitch and it is taken for a strike and we’re underway at 105. 65 beautiful degrees, clear skies brought to you by Bank of America, the official bank of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Ground ball to first picked up by Dominic Smith. He steps on the bag and there’s one away. And down for Mooki Bats. rope making his 19th start of the season when he lost to the Dodgers on the 14th of June. That was when the Dodgers and Giants were tied. Dodgers had built as much as a 9game lead over San Francisco, but the Giants have won seven of the last nine. You know what’s happened lately with the Dodgers and they’ve cut the lead down to four. Then Muki takes a strike. Dodgers wearing their traveling roads. Los Angeles across the chest. One pitch. Mookie swings and misses for strike two. Giants in their cream colored home uniforms. Giants in black and orange across the chest. The solid black hats today. And Lucy swings and strikes out with Hazen on three pitches. That was a curve ball and there are two down. Rup has been like two different pitchers. On the road, his RA is above four and a half, but at home in seven starts, it’s 1.85 85 and he has yet to allow a home run at home. And Freddy Freeman at the plate over his last 32 games is only hitting 182. He has seen his average dip. There’s a curveball swing and a miss. Freddy starts the day at 295. He had led the National League in batting average at one point. A one pitch outside and it’s one and one. Breeze blowing out toward left and left center. Boats are in McCovy Cove. Sailboats are in there. Kayaks as well. One-1 pitch swung on. Lifted to left field indeed. Heading back is Ramos to the wall. It’s off the top of the wall. Around first and chugging into second with a two out double is Freddy Freeman. Just missed a home run by a couple defeat. Well, for Freeman, he has been a little lost at home plate. Hopefully that’s going to change things around the month of July. Not been kind. just 179. But the last couple of months have been challenging. Right at the 200 mark in June. 24th double for Freddy Freeman. She is closing in on Lou Garri. Needs a couple of more to tie him. And Tayosca Hernandez up there from the right side takes ball one. Low and away. Two outs. Runner at second. Top of the first just underway. 532nd career double for Freddy Freeman. The numbers he has piled up and the players that he has passed this year in doubles been amazing. He’s already passed Willie Mays. He’s passed Ted Williams. The pitch and that’s on the outside corner for a strike. Two balls, one strike to Tay Oscar Hernandez. Wind is already shifted now. Blowing out to right center. Little swirl around here. 2-1. Swung out. Fouled straight back. Then the curve ball. Well, that curve ball has been pretty good. The slider’s been a different story, but the curveball the last two years to Oscar Hernandez has hit 22 home runs on breaking pitches. That’s fourth highest in Major League Baseball. [Music] The Oscar steps back in the batters box. Two balls, two strikes the count. Two out, man at second is Freeman. Landon RP delivers and it’s low and away. Will fill the count at three and two. Well, RP his release point is not directly over the top. It’s really right around where the right shoulder is. It doesn’t really drop down, but it’s a little bit of a short arm delivery. Payoff pitch to Tay Oscars. Bounced foul over off the front of the Giants dugout on the third base side of Oracle Park. And the other thing that RP does, he kind of uh kind of leans into the throw and and from that three quarter delivery, you know, breaking ball is he’s not going to really get on top of it. So, it’s going to be more of a sweeper than up and down. 3-2 poked foul to the right and that’ll make the first row of the second deck. [Applause] Three and two to Hernandez facing the 26-year-old right-hander out of Rocky Mount, North Carolina. The stretch and a 3-2 pitch to Tea Oscar. swings and fouls it straight back. Well, for RP, you look at the last four starts that he’s had prior to today, his earnred average in that period of time, a minuscule 1.33. [Applause] 3-2 once again to Tea Oscar. He swings, hits a highf fly ball into left field. Coming in is Elliot Ramos. He’ll make the catch and that’ll do it for the Dodgers in the top of the first. No runs, one hit, one left. After a half inning here in San Francisco, it’s the Dodgers nothing and the Giants coming a snack that Freddy cannot resist. I would have to say chips and guacamole. Organic mango. Yeah. Is that because of the strong Dominican contingent in the major leagues, bro? Is that what has anybody ever struck out and gone crazy and smashed the cooler full of mangoes? Nah. Our team’s not really into smashing each other’s stuff, I guess. Are you a seasoning guy? You like to dry yourself in dips and sauces? No. No. Got to watch my finger. And it looks great, brother. I appreciate it. Very sexy, man. Let’s go. Freddy Freeman, ladies and gentlemen. [Applause] fordnow.com for details. And starting pitcher today, Johnny hoping to get into the third inning if he’s sufficient today. His skipper Dave Roberts said they’d like to get him three innings as they continue to stretch him out. And it was described as a situation, you know, hitting and pitching. It’s not normal in the major leagues to do this. And yes, we’ve seen him do it with the Angels, but this is the first time we’ve seen him do it with the Dodgers this season. This is the fifth time he’s started a ball game. But it’s becoming more normal around the Dodger clubhouse to expect this. So Mike Ystreky, the right fielder standing in against Otani. His first pitch is whistled in down low and in. One ball, no strikes. [Music] Otani pitched against Houston last weekend, faced six men, struck out three of them. One pitch is swung on, fouled away to the left. One ball and one strike. [Music] Roberts was describing the difference between Otani as a DH and as a pitcher. He said he’s more edgier as a pitcher as he fires a strike in there knee high to Yusky at 98. It’s one and two. Dave said that as a hitter he’s pretty calm, but as a pitcher he’s a little bit more aggressive out there as a player. Now the step back, the kick, the one-two pitch, a swing and a miss, and a high fast ball at 99. And Yremsky strikes out. That’s how Otani begins his afternoon. Yeah. Hello. Goodbye. That’s your leadoff hitter out there. Yes. Yes, it is. And I think that part of that scenario is as a hitter, you’re thinking about one guy. That’s the starting pitcher you’re going to be facing. As a pitcher, you’re thinking about nine guys you’re trying to get out. Now Ramos, the left fielder, swings and follows it back. At Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, groundbreaking research meets worldclass expertise and treatment. US News and World Report once again has named Chla the number one hospital in California. chla.org for more information. There’s a swinging strike at 99. Another fast ball down the middle. It’s 0 and2. Ramos sitting 265 to start the day. Here’s the wine. on the O2 pitch. Swung on and miss strike three at 100 m anph. Wow. [Applause] Hello. Good night again on three pitches. [Applause] He’s thrown seven pitches in the inning. Here’s Raphael Devers. Left-handed hitting DH. There’s a swing and a miss. [Applause] Denver is hitting 260 combined between his time in Boston and San Francisco. 17 home runs or one pitch. Otani sends a slider to the plate. Cut on and missed. Oh, and two toss. Here is the nothing and two pitch toes from Otani. It’s up high. Got the fast ball again at 99.9. Call it an even 100. He’s hit triple digits a couple of times already here in the first inning and now he needs to tie his right shoe. [Applause] And now done. Well, anything a Dodger player does is not going to be received well, but first time I’ve really heard a crowd boo or someone tying their shoe. Here comes a one-two pitch and pops it back. Foul and out of play. It’s a Rodney Dangerfield crowd. Tough crowd. Tough crowd. No respect for those shoelaces. [Applause] Oh, Tom squared up on top of the hill again. Two outs. He winds, kicks, steals, swung on a miss. Strike three. Strikes out the side to start the game on 12 pitches in the bottom of the first inning. Got him with a slider. So, tremendous beginning for Otani. We go to the second inning. Dodgers nothing. Giants nothing. When you want Dodgers, the only home is AM570 LA Sports. Well, we certainly served it up over the plate. This is a burger fit for a home run king. The 99 burger in honor of Aaron Judge. They sell a bazillion of these at Yankee Stadium. It looks pretty good. I feel like we passed the test. What about you? I think so. [Music] Heat. [Applause] [Music] Heat. [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Applause] [Applause] Heat up here. Michael Conorto will lead off for the Dodgers in the second in a no score. Landon Roof fires a strike in on him. What a game he had last night. Two-run home run in the sixth when the Dodgers put four up. He got right back into the game. They were down eight to two before that inning. Takes a strike here and it’s nothing and two. But the big play was his throw from left field to get Jung Hu Lee at the plate on a fly ball by Casey Schmidt out to left. Perfect throw. 02 pitch swung on and rolled just fouled up the first baseline. The throw last night that that you’re referring to was the absolute perfect throw. The best that we have seen from anyone even on a highlight film accurate throw. The throw is right to the tag. Only place that would have got him. 02 pitch. That’s low and in. One ball, two strikes. Scoreless game so far. And so far, show Otani. Three batters, three strikeouts. One-two pitch, swung out, at least fouled into the seats in the second deck along the third baseline. A brief conversation. And I mentioned this earlier, big conversation on the uh elevator with Conferto. He said, “Yeah, he hit it hard.” He said, “But also used the wind yesterday.” One, two. Grounded fair down the first baseline. Dominic Smith smothers it. He throws it away from his belly. And there to back up is the third baseman Chapman, but that’ll be a base hit for Michael Conorto. It was a diving stop, but not a clean one by Dominic Smith. The ball was fumbled and rolled away from him. That was a good bat because Conferto again was down very quickly after two pitches. It was 0 and2 and he winds up a leadoff single. The Dodgers also last night they were much more efficient. They had four hits with runners in scoring position. Andy PZ the batter way out in front of a curveball swinging a miss. Nothing in one. Top of the second is brought to you by Budweiser. This buds for you. Stretch by RP and the pitch outside. One ball, one strike to Pahz. Came back with another breaking ball. Andy PZ, I think, surprises people. You know, he’s tied for third best average in Major League Baseball against breaking stuff. And he waits at the plate. Now the 1-1. Uh 3/4 swing. That’s a strike. It was a sinker. Bahz against breaking stuff this year is at 318. Only two players in baseball have a higher average. They’ll see plenty of curve balls out of route. Well, he throws it 40% of the time, too. Confo leads at first. Middle infielders playing for two. And the pitch swung on. Poked foul into the Dodger dugout off the protective netting. And that was a breaking ball. That 40% by the way, the breaking ball, that’s over the last two years. So isn’t just all of a sudden he’s he’s gone with the breaking stuff. [Applause] Stretched by the giant righthander. His one two swung out, pulled foul into the giant dugout. We look out into McCovby Cove and into San Francisco Bay. There are a ton of sailboats out there. Pleasure boats. Just a busy day on a lot of watercraft inside the cove today. One-two pitch way inside. Two balls, two strikes to pie. It’s just a picture perfect Bay Area Saturday afternoon in July. Confo off of first. The two- two pitch and by his swings grounds a foul third base. Well, the running game has not really been a weapon used against RP. There have been eight attempted steals. Six of them were successful, but we made a comment last night that that Bailey, the catcher, boy, he got rid of it in a hurry a couple of times last night. Swings, fouls it up in the air back behind the plate. That’ll get over the back stop and into the seats. And even though Bailey did a good job in in throwing, there were some big jumps. Dodgers stole three bases last night, including a big one in the ninth inning, but the ground ball double play by Will Smith. The game ended with a tying run in scoring position. Here comes the two- two offer to Andy Pahz. He swings, hits a ground ball toward the middle, diving stop throws to second. He missed the second baseman. The ball is loose behind the pitcher mound. Advancing from second to third is Conorto. Heads up base running by Michael Conforto and PZ is aboard and with nobody out the Dodgers have runners at first and third. Yeah, terrific dive by Adamus. It’ll be an infield single then an error on the throw by Adamus who was really on his belly and tried to backhand throw and and missed his second baseman. [Music] son Kim a chance to get the Dodgers on the board. Kim batting in the seventh spot this afternoon. Batting average at 349. Last night he had three hits. One of them was a double. He’ll take a curveball for a strike here. Left-handed batter playing second base. Middle infield still playing for two this early in the ball game. Top of the second. And the pitch swung on and missed. change up that never came out over the plate. Stayed outside and Kim in the hole. Nothing and two outfield playing him straight up except in right field. But Mike Gstroski’s off the line into the gap. 02 a little tapper third base side goes foul. Hit it right off the end of the bat as RP came back with a change up again. And he may have chipped the end of the bat. He’s asked home plate umpire Mike Estbrook if he can go to the dugout and yeah he uses he uses that cuped bat and he was so far out in front it actually chipped the backside of the of the bat itself. By the way, Conforto is on the move so he’s going to be going on contact and if they make a play on him especially ball is hit hard he can stay out of the double play spot. O2 pitch Kim swings at the high center and strikes out. And that was out of the strike zone. A little anxious there for Hassan Kim. Now Tommy Edmond coming up. His first at bat presented by Edmunds. Change up came over the inside half of the plate. Dalton rushing on deck and then Otani up after that. 01 pitch. Edund late swings at a change up in the dirt. Then it’s 0 and two. Well, you got to figure with how we’ve been seeing him sequence early in the game, might see the high fast ball here following the low change up, maybe the curve ball. Az leads at first. Conforto gets a good size lead off of third, the pitch, and he goes low again with another change up. So much for guessing there. Well, you don’t normally see three change ups in a row. Normally you don’t see four. So Tommy’s thinking something else here in a one-two. And that is outside. It was another change up. Four in a row. [Applause] Two and two the count. Landon rope the stretch and he kicks and fires. And Edmond bangs it down the right side, but it hooks fouled into the protective net. [Applause] The wall goes straight down from the first base dugout. Then it comes to a point and it angles out toward the right field wall. That’s where the foul ball ended up in the netting there. 2-2. Missed outside again and again came with the change up. So we can see what the scouting report the Giants have on Tommy Edmond is saying when he bats left-handed. Tons of change ups here. 3-2 pitch wait throw to first and stepping back is Pes [Applause] run PZ here with a full count and one out. Runner at third. Not be surprised if he’s going for the payoff pitch. Pah does not go. There’s a ground ball to second. It is stabbed by Schmid. He’s got one play. It’s on to first. Coming in to score is Michael Conorto and the ground ball out produces a run. The Dodgers on the board first. It’s one- nothing. Well, good at bat by Tommy Edmond. I mean, he had a fight and fight. Talk about an unusual at bat. Four consecutive change ups and then he trades an out for a run to the Dodgers. One of the few times on this road trip that they’ve had a lead. Pays at second base. Two out and Dalton rushing. The number nine batter up. And he’ll take high ball one. Otan’s in the on deck circle. [Applause] And the Dodgers score first. Their record is 31 and 11. 10 pitch outside. 2 and0 for Tommy Edmond. The RBI on the ground out. His 39th run batted in. Lead at second for Bahz. Stretch for Landon RP in the 200 to Dalton rushing. Swung on and well hit to left. Going back on it is Ramos. He’s got room right there on the edge of the track. Makes the catch and the side is retired. Dodgers get a run on two hits. They leave him in. There was one San Francisco error. And after an inning and a half at Oracle Park, it’s a fiveman umpiring crew here today in this young superstar. And did their feet get tangled up? Yes. So happy trip. They got their feet tangled up before the ball came down. That goes helicoptering into the net. It’s that ball is off the ladder. It’s actually off the ladder. You never see that. A little tumble behind the mound. Hat fell off. That was awesome. I mean, you just don’t see that. [Music] We wanted to introduce something new and then working in some of our past and what the past can look like in the future. I think our players absolutely love it and our fans, we think they’ll learn to love it. Especially if you can win in it, you know, that kind of solves everything. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Applause] Dodgers are going to play what I want to say. One- nothing Dodgers. Bottom of the second inning. Otania to face Matt Chapman. Otania has faced three hitters. He has struck them all out and now goes to work here in the second. He winds and fires and the sweeper over the outside edge for a strike. First, he’s just 13 pitches, 11 strikes. Does any good? One pitch swing and a ground ball to short. Mooki has it. He’ll fire it on to first in plenty of time. And that is the first non strikeout for Otani. He’s retired four straight. Work hard, play hard, and a new Tacoma with an I Force turbocharged engine. It’s a truck built for the Bulls. See your Toyota dealer today. They make it easy. Willie Adamus, the right-handed hitting shortstop [Applause] [Music] wearing the purple cleat that just do not match the Giant uniform. Here’s the pitch. It’s outside low ball one. Adamus hit a home run last night. his first at bat. [Applause] Here’s a 10 from Otani and a strike call. [Music] So, the question today was how long will Otani go? And Dave Roberts saying at least two. We want to get him through three if he’s efficient. Adamus swings, hits a fly ball foul, drifting near the third baseman, Edmond. He’s backing up right along the line where the grass and the warning track are parallel to the foul line. He makes the catch and there are two men out and he is battling with some sun and also some breeze. That breeze has kicked up again and now it’s going out towards center field. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Jung Hulie the center fielder left-handed batter. Two outs, nobody on. Takes inside for a ball. 18 pitches for Otani. Keep in mind last time against Houston he threw a season high 31. They want to get him above that 10 pitch. That skips in the dirt. 2 and0. It’s just so unique because you can’t take his bat out of the lineup. He doesn’t go on a rehab assignment to face live hitters. So he’s got to do it here and continue to build up. 200 is way inside. Almost got Jung Julie on a foot. He had to dance to get out of the way. This is also one of those spots, Tim, as it at the completion of this this half inning. Otani is leading off the third inning. Three 0 pitch missing outside. Ball four and Lee draws the two out walk. That’s just the second walk he’s issued this season. Well, friends, you can stream every out ofarket game live or on demand. Two odds, a man aboard. Second baseman Casey Schmid, looks at a sweeper for a strike. Schmid, right-handed batter, hitting .264. [Music] Otani 77% first pitch strikes. Now the next pitch popped up behind second base. Okie bets calls off Kim. He makes the one-handed catch and the side retired. No runs, no hits, one left. No Dodger errors. We go to the third inning. It’s the Dodgers one San Francisco nothing. It’s a fiveman umpiring crew here today and this young superstar. And did their feet get tangled up? Yes. So Hoppy tripped. They got their feet tangled up before the ball came down. That goes helicoptering into the net. It’s that ball is off the ladder. It’s actually off the ladder. You never see that. A little tumble behind the mound. Hat fell off. That was awesome. I mean, you just don’t see that. [Music] on your official home of Los Angeles Dodgers baseball. Otani at the plate to start the third. Dodgers up one- nothing. Swings the first pitch. Grounds with it to second. Casey Schmidt step two is glove side. Picks it up and throws him out. One pitch, one away in the Dodger third. [Applause] Now, Dodger fans, listen to the game on your radio and have your favorite food delivered with Uber Eats. He struck out on three pitches in the first inning. Takes a sinker outside. One ball, no strikes. Mookie 249 to start the day. Strike call to him. [Applause] Reached base in his last three plate appearances in the game last night. Was hit by a pitch and scored, tripled and scored and then a base hit and on appeal. The first base umpire John Bacon rings up a strike to Bets. One and two. Muki swing strokes it down the left field line on the run. Elliot Ramos. slides, but is going to hit the netting in foul territory. Well, two teams that have had to take different approaches with their pitching, in particular, their starting pitching. The Giants have have seven pitchers that have made multiple starts. The Dodgers 14. Landon RP wines, kick, steals, and swinging a miss. And he strikes Rookie out for the second time. Third strike of the game. This one coming on a change up. Go back to that number again. You talk about multiple starts. Just seven different guys have done it for the Giants and 14 different pitchers have had multiple starts for the Dodgers. Indeed, different approaches out of necessity because of injuries. Freddy Freeman one for one with a double, swings, fouls back. I think every manager, I know Dave Roberts does this, but every manager in spring training, one of the early meetings, usually tells everybody in that room that it’s going to take everybody in here. That’s why it’s ripped hard and fouled into the far end of the Dodger dugout. And two on Freeman. There’s an 02 and check swing didn’t go. But, you know, you look around the room at that time and there’s like 60 guys in there and some are looking at each other going, “I don’t know about that.” But as the season goes along, it takes about that many guys. One, two, and Freeman strokes this one. Foul right side into the net. Well, it’s it’s taken everybody that’s been on the 40man roster, plus a a few additions and subtractions from that list as well. One ball, two strike pitch. Freeman swings, fouls it away. There’s been a subtraction from the Dodger roster overall today. He’s not on the 40man, but he’s a a guy with a lot of major league experience. Michael Chavis, who is in Oklahoma City, got his release and he has signed with the Chunichi Dragons in Japan. Here’s a strike called a change up on the outside corner. Freddy’s upset. He throws the bat, looks back at Mike Estbrook. as he strikes out looking. One, two, three, go. The Dodgers in the top of the third. We go to the bottom of the third inning at Oracle Park. It’s [Music] For the first time this season, show Otani starts the third inning of a ball game. Dodgers leading one- nothing. First baseman Dominic Smith takes high. One and0. 24 pitches for Otani. Three strikeouts, one walk. And a one pitch coming from Otani to Smith, the left-handed batter. That one’s whipped way inside for a ball at 98. Again, the plan is EMTT Sheen would pitch following Otani whenever that is. Two delivery and right down the middle for a called strike. [Music] Two balls, one strike. Saw EMTT preparing as though he was preparing for a start as Otani was warming up in the bullpen prior to the game. Sheen was out playing long toss. This one popped up back a third. Drifting into foul ground. Tommy Yedman goes a long way and he makes the play. He’s been tested over there in foul ground so far, but he’s passed the test twice. One gone for the Giants in the bottom of the third. Boy, there it’s a cloudless sky, so you’re getting a face full of sunshine. And not the easiest play in the world, especially backpedaling. Patrick Bailey, the switch hitting catcher, starts the day at the Uker line, hitting 200. First time he’s ended a day or started a day 200 or higher since April 11th. Strike one to him. A cutter. One out. Base is empty. Dodgers a one- nothing lead. 01 pitch. Swung out. Fouled off to the left and out of play. [Applause] [Music] Nothing and two to Patrick Bailey. Otani wines, fires, strike three called. A slider caught the outside half of the plate. Fourth strikeout for Otani this afternoon. Well, this has been most impressive of what we’ve seen Otani do. Struck out the first three that he faced in the ball game. Now back to the top of the order, Mike Ustrepsky, who struck out on a fast ball in the first inning. And he’ll see a pitch that just misses outside at AM PM when the Dodgers steal a base at home. You score a free hot dog in any 12 slim Coca-Cola. Redeem your free feast in the AM app. Let’s play ball am too much good stuff. Wano to Ystrevky and he’ll take high and away. Two balls, no strikes. The Twins are beating the Pirates 12-4 in Minneapolis. Top of the eighth inning. Byron Buckston with the cycle today for the Twins. Strike called at the knees of Ystrevky. Two and one. Futures game going on also in Atlanta. Two-1 pitch swung on a line drive past the diving Kim into right field. A base hit. Kim do his glove side left and it was just out of his reach. So Yustreky gets the first hit off Otani this afternoon. Two out single and here’s Elliot Ramos the left fielder. Ronaldo struck out on a fast ball in the first. Out of the stretch is Otani. He fires and it’s a strike at the knees. A fast ball to 98. [Applause] 35 pitches for Otani. That’s a new season high. And 24 of those good for strikes. One strike pitch is hit in the air to center field. Playable for Andy PZ. He moves over to his right, reaches up, makes the catch. Side retired inning over. Giants no runs, one hit, one left. No Dodger errors. Onto the fourth inning. It’s the Dodgers one Giants. It’s a fiveman umpiring crew here today in this young superstar. And did their feet get tangled up? Yes. So, Hoppy Tri, they got their feet tangled up before the ball came down. That goes Helen entering into the net. It’s And that ball is off the ladder. It’s actually off the ladder. You never see that. A little tumble behind the mound. Hat fell off. That was awesome. I mean, you just don’t see that. [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] A lot of fans and collectors will look at the T206 set as the more famous of the sets that were produced in the early part of the 20th century and certainly they would carry more financial value. But when you talk to collectors, some will tell you that these T205s are actually more physically attractive. They’re maybe the most physically attractive cards produced prior to World War II. [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] baseball continues on its official home. Top of the fourth inning, one- nothing Dodgers. Teresa Hernandez facing Landon RP. The pitch outside ball one. Michael Conforto has scored the game’s only run on an RBI ground out by Tommy Edmond. That came in the second inning. Swing and a foul back. One ball, one strike for the Dodgers. EMTT Sheen has now begun to warm in the Dodger bullpen. Show Otani goes three innings today. One-1 pitch. There’s a shot on the ground into left field. A base hit by Oscar with a leadoff single to start the fourth inning. They really need his bat to come alive too. Especially we look at Freeman as a double off the wall in this game. Hernandez hit the ball sharply for the base hit because you look at the last 30 games, Oscar Hernandez has hit barely above 200, 202 to be exact. [Applause] Conforto had a base hit one for one infield single. First time up pulled it down the first baseline. Dominic Smith dove for it along the line. Got a glove on it. For able to get to first for the single. One pitch. Wave and a miss. One ball, one strike. Center fielder Lee who steps over toward left center. Look at the size of the gap between Ystreky and right is playing near the line and Lee in center. It is huge. They’re not. I mean, they’re giving him a triple. I mean, you could put almost three 18-wheelers end to end between those two. Speaking of parking, noticed uh across the street again today, you park here, it’s 150 bucks across the street. Good thing you got your own ride. You know, there was a line of cars to get in. Yeah. One, two, swinging a ball that’s hooked down the right field side. Just dives. It’s out of his glove. Basker was heading back to first just in case Ystrevsky caught it. It was a tremendous diving effort on the warning path right near the chalk line. Squeezed right out of his glove and Conorto is on base again and the Dodgers have set up shot first and second and nobody out. Well, the Stressky came within an eyelash of being able to hold on to that baseball. You don’t have a whole lot of foul territory. You got maybe three ft. The last Oh, 50 ft down the line. Andy Pahz with a chance now. Pitch to Andyes. Swung on and fouled off to the right. [Applause] Gusky was playing him to pull down there. hadn’t played right but got the glove on it and the pitch called the ball inside and low. And if he doesn’t get a glove on it, it’s at least a double, possibly a triple. [Applause] One one pitch to Pah means fouls it back and it’s one and two. Yeah, the way the dimensions are here, of course, you got to deal with the brick wall from right out to deep right center where the triples alley reaches its peak at 415 away from home plate, the deepest part of the ballpark. It’s 309 down the right field line, 365 in the alley. And there’s nothing constant about that brick wall. Oh, it’s brick from about 8 ft off the ground up. But then you got cutouts. You got an auxiliary scoreboard. get some strange bounces. One-two pitch. Pay swings and strikes out on a change up low and in. [Music] Fifth strikeout for Landon RP today. Hey friends, Ron Legends of Dodger baseball bobblehead night is going to take place Friday, July 18th. That’s against the Brewers. So be one of the first 40,000 fans in attendance. You’ll take home a special Ron bobblehead presented by Bank of America. So we encourage you to visit dodgers.com/promotions. Hesson Kim second time up. He struck out on a sinker in the second inning. Down swinging. He’s down on the count. Nothing in one. Group got the curve ball over the next offer. Swung on and missed. A change up away. And it’s 0 and two to Hessan Kim. group standing on the first base side of the rubber now. Toes it in the middle. Puts his glove up against his chest. Hanging the ball down by his right side. Now comes set O2. Swinging a miss. Strike three. Change up again. So the change up has been very very effective especially against the left-handed hitters. Yeah. Well, this is where the Dodgers have really been struggling. In fact, on this road trip, runners in scoring position just 174. Part of the reason the Dodgers beat Landon RP back on the 14th of June at Dodger Stadium is because they laid off the change, but they don’t seem to be able to do that so far this afternoon. Tommy Edmund takes high and away. Edund drove in the Dodgers only run with a ground out, scoring Conforto from third. Two on, two out. Tea Oscar is at second base and Conford at first and a strike call to Edmund. One ball, one strike. Sizable gap in left center field for Tommy and the pitch on the way. He swings, hits a ground ball to second. Casey Schmidt down to a knee, grabs it, straightens up, goes to first and that’ll do it. So the Dodgers get first and second, nobody out. They never move. We’re through three and a half innings at Oracle Park in San Francisco [Applause] being uh you know the middle of New York to display a card like this is really such a big part of the fanatics mission. You know, we think about how do we create new experiences. Now we get the opportunity to put incredible holy grail cards in front of tens of thousands if not millions of new people is not just about collectors today, but also about how do we bring new collectors into the space as well. It’s really what we do it all for. [Music] Audio network never gets old. for the Dodgers. Right-hander Emtt Sheen takes over for Show Otani, who for the first time this year completes three innings of work. Otani allowed just one hit, no runs, one walk, four strikeouts, 36 pitches, 29 for strikes. And now EMTT Sheen piggybacking him here on this Saturday afternoon. His third appearance with the big club. Now Sheen steps back, kicks, fires, and the batter is Raphael Devers who takes a strike. [Music] Devers waits at the plate and Sheen into his wind up, throws one home. misses just off the plate outside with a change up. [Music] [Applause] Devils in his last 14 games nine for 47 takes inside and low two and one and of those 47 at bats he has struck out 22 times. He’ll make that 23 times after Otani got him in the first. Two ball, one strike pitch to Denvers. And that pitch looked close to being a a high strike, but a little bit out of the zone. Three and one. Divers has had difficulty against the fast ball. The curve ball has been well easy street for him getting over 300 against right-handers. 3-1 pitch from Shia. That’s slowing in all four and he will head down to first base. So, the first man that Sheen faces reaches and the Giants have the tying run aboard. Matt Chapman coming up. With Shien coming in, the pitching change brought to you by Bank of America, the official bank of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Chapman grounded out to Bats at second base. First time up, right side of the infield wide open. Freeman holding Devils. Deers not really a threat to run here. Pitch to Chapman. A curveball in for a strike. Endeavors has been battling a groin issue. Also inflammation in his lower back. [Applause] Nothing in one. The count the pitch swung on. Ground ball left side. Mookie backhands turns throws to second. One. That’s all they’ll get. Kim had to stretch to the left field side of second base to make the catch and get the force out there. So front side out is made and Chapman aboard at first. Nice play by Betts also because he was really off balance really reaching out to backhand that ball able to turn and make the good throw to Kim coming across the bag at second. [Applause] There’s Willie Adam popped up in foul ground to third baseman Tommy Edmond and the pitch to him. He swings and pops it up foul ground. first base side this time. Freddy giving chase and this ball is going to hit the net before Freddy’s get a chance to get at it. Let’s pause 10 seconds for station identification. This is the world champion Los Angeles Dodgers audio network. The home of the world champion LA Dodgers KAC KYSR HD2 Los Angeles. Make us a preset on the free iHeart Radio app. Emit Sheen’s 01 pitch to Adamus is high. One ball, one strike. Dodgers a one- nothing lead. Had a good opportunity in the top of the fourth inning with Hernandez and Conforto reaching with nobody out, but Dodgers unable to advance them. One-1 to Adam slowing away. Try the slider in this. So we see the slider and the curveball as far as the breaking pitches are concerned for EMTT Sheen work as the long man today. We’ll see how long he goes. 2-1 pitch and that is inside. It’s three and one starting out and uh a lot of pitches for three batters. Adamus waiting from the right side. Deers leads at first and the pitch up high. Ball four and EMTT Sheen is working himself into trouble in the bottom of the fourth inning. He’s walked two now. The tying run is at second. The go-ahead runs at first and the batter is Jung Hu Lee. Tough guy to double up. [Applause] Now, this is exactly where Dustin May got himself into trouble last night when he walked two in the fourth inning. They both came around to score. So, Shien’s going to have to pitch around those walks here. Jung Hu Lee was walked by Otani in the second inning. [Applause] And a bird seemed to fly near home plate right near Jung-ho Lee. Pigeon. He swings at this pitch and pops it up. Shallow center. Bets is out. PZ comes in. He makes the catch and there are two men out. I was wondering what Lee was doing. He kind of backed out of the box. So it looked like Sheen was ready to throw and then realized that the pigeon got in his line of sight and he bailed out of the batters box. Pigeons nothing. Wait till the eighth inning when the massive seagull is all moving. Just looking at it’s actually a dove is still on the warning track behind home plate just a little bit off to the right side towards the first base dugout. Second baseman Casey Schmidt with runners at second and first and two men out. Pitch from Sheen. Swung on. Hit in the air to right field. Going back on it to Oscar. He’s on the track. Makes the running catch. Hit right at him and the Giants strand two. They don’t get a hit and we’re through four full. It’s the Dodgers one. Giants nothing. This is AM5. I was so inspired by what you were making that I want to do my own allstar ballpark bite, but I’m thinking we take some of that brisket that you make and I’m going to do like a little slider. Got the uh pepper jack cheese, some American, get it going with some of the barbecue sauce that you have, that spicy delicious one, and then caramelized onions. Make like a little sandwich. We cool. Sound like a plan. Think we did good. Oh, thank you. Thank you. Thanks, chef. [Music] a saratoral issue here. There there’s the team name, Chicago Cubs. So, it does work. It’s got the right color. Yeah, it’s gray. Maybe there was a something went wrong with his other one. One to Marte in the air right to the guy we just showed you. Heat. Heat. [Music] [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Applause] [Applause] Dalton rushing show Mooky the bat here in the fifth inning. Rogers with a one- nothing lead and Landon RP 75 pitches delivers his 76th outside ball one on ball no strikes rushing fly to left field first time up swings here at a curveball and misses one ball and one strike rushing left-handed batter looking out at the right-hander throws. It’s inside. Tied the sinker and missed. Two and one. Wind blowing out to right field now. Right toward the right field foul pole. Two-1 pitch and a strike call to the outside corner with a curve ball. Flushing requests time from home plate umpire Mike Estbrook. Gets it. Now he’ll step back in the box. Out of the wind up is RP. Two- two pitch. Swing on and miss. Strike three. The curve ball in the dirt. And that is the seventh strikeout for Landon Ruth. [Applause] And with one out, today’s starting pitcher, Show Otani coming up. Otani’s 0 for two. He’s grounded out twice, [Applause] but fewer ground outs in the game than strikeouts recorded. That’s right. He struck out four men and he takes a strike here. [Applause] Next offer to Otani is a strike called that was low and away and immediately Otani gets a timeout. Don’t know about this pitch. Pretty close but Otani didn’t show much emotion on it. 02. He lets this one go low. Group very similar to what we saw last night with Logan Webb. Does not take a lot of time in between pitches. He’s got an appointment to get to or something. Here’s a one-two and that’s low and it’s two and two. Gets the ball back from his catcher and just can’t wait to get on the rubber and throw the baseball. Two- two pitch and Otani takes strike three. He thought it was high and away. He just turns, walks back to the first base dugout. Esesterbrook rings him up. Eight strikeouts for RP. [Applause] His season high is nine. Struck out nine Angels in Anaheim on the 19th of April. This is the third time he has struck out eight. And a ground ball by Betts to third. Chapman charging, throwing, and he just gets bets. Dodgers done an order and fast in the top of the fifth inning. Halfway home in San Francisco. Middle of the fifth. It’s the Dodgers. [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] [Applause] I was so inspired by what you were making that I want to do my own allstar ballpark bite. Colin Yei and a pitch called a ball looked to be a little bit up. 2 and 0. [Applause] Two balls, no strikes. Smith waits. She fires. Missed again, this time outside with a fast ball. Falls behind. 3 and 0. He allowed the leadoff man to reach in his first inning of work, last inning when he walked Dess. And now way behind here on Smith and he Sheen looks into Dalton rushing. Rushing sets the target kick in the 3-1. Swung on hit in the air down the left field line. Twisting foul. Conforto gives it a run, but that’ll be up into the chairs for strike two. Three and two. Two balls, two strikes. The first baseman, Dominic Smith. The catcher, Patrick Bailey, is on deck. [Applause] 3-2 pitch now from Sheen. swung on and missed. Strike three. Came all the way back and got him with a slider after she his first strike out of the afternoon. He swung to bed. He was looking for a heater and obviously did not get it. Patrick Bailey, switch hitter. Struck out on a slider himself. Otani’s last strikeout victim before leaving the game as a pitcher. [Applause] Pitch to Bailey. That’s in for a strike. And the Otani rule really making it a lot easier to manage a two-way player encouraging others to perhaps sometime down the line be a two-way player. We’re not seeing anybody stand out just yet. There’s a strike called and it’s 0 and two. Can you put into perspective how difficult that’s got to be? I it’s difficult to work on just one of the many facets of the game. It is normally separated. Well, you got the offensive part swinging the bat. You got the defensive part with the the glove and now you’re mixing in the pitching. 02 delivery and Bailey swings it a high fast ball and strikes out. 98 on the heater for Sheen. Two down. One thing um again talking to Conford a little earlier today we were talking about the wind that was a candlestick and the wind here. I don’t trust the wind and I don’t trust the flags here. The reason is the flags in right center are showing that the wind is blowing out towards right field corner maybe towards second base towards the foul pole. The flags are straightaway center blowing straight away towards center. It looks low to Mike if above the scoreboard. So I’m looking at the flags in right center. I think that part of the wind that is deflected off of the scoreboard and moves off to the right. So, good luck if you’re an outfielder or an infielder for that matter. 10 pitch toky. He swings, pops it up first base side foul ground. Freddy Freeman near the 45T line. Backpedaling back into fair territory. He makes the catch and Ystreky is out. Sheen retires him an order in the fifth. We go to the sixth in San Francisco. It’s the So, without further ado, snap on your time goggles and prepare to zoom a thousand years into the future. Landon Roof th goes to the Dodger first baseman and gets a strike with a curveball. Hey, just before the inning ended, you were talking about the win. So, good luck to the outfielders and the infielders. And the pop up by Ystreky proved that as Freddy had to tangle with the win. Not only that, he had to tangle with the baseline and the runner coming down the baseline from home plate to first. 1-1. Freeman fouls it off to the left. It’s one and two. Ball goes back to the back stop. So, the armchair managers, it’s easy to say, well, why don’t you have this guy pitch that? Well, you have to get them up plan ahead. That’s what managers do. Well, Bailey, who we commented last night, he gets the ball, the transfer to the throwing hand, and they getting the throw off is very fast. Kim, hands on his knees, leading at first. Stretch by Rogers. The pitch outside for a ball. Want to note to Tommy Edmond who’s 0 for three today. Does have a run batted in however. Ground ball out in the second inning. Scored Conforto for the game’s first run. 10 missed outside. Two balls, no strikes. As effective as Rogers is with this submarining technique, you wonder why more guys don’t try it. [Applause] Well, a two- pitch coming and that catches the outside corner for a strike. So many of the guys that we’ve seen over the years go to that submarine because they were just not effective somewhere else. Now a 2-1 pitch and that’s over the plate for a tall strike. I expect him to be taking off somewhere in here. Now we got to go here. You’d think Kim gets into his lead. Two ball, two strike count to Tommy Edmund and Rogers set to deliver. There he goes. Swing and a foul off to the left side into the second. And Kim was not going Kim into the lead almost to the cut of the grass now with his right foot. 2-2 the count the pitch. There goes Kim. Foul ground near the plate. Dalton rushing throws the mask. Tommy Edmund comes in to bail him out. The wind got a hold of it rushing. Ran for it at the last moment as he realized the ball was creeping away from him. He dove head first, but Edmund, cool as a cucumber, was underneath it to make the catch. Elvin Roing looked like a decoy as he dove for the ball and he wasn’t within 5 ft of it. Chunghu Lee one out bottom of the ninth and rushing also ran over his mask. So it’s very windy upstairs. Pitch to Lee missing downstairs. I guess nobody said I got it. Uh no might be a few people thinking, “Hey, you’ve got a lot of room.” 10 pitch missed outside again and it’s 2 and 0 to Jung Hu Lee who walked in the second inning and in the fourth and again in the seventh fly to center two pitch right down the middle for a strike. The Dodgers have made another defensive substitution. Michael Conforto is out of the game and left as Story Ruiz is out there now. So Ruiz Alman and Pahz the outfield 2-1 swing and a miss and a slider and his helmet comes right off his head wrestling in front of home plate. Two balls and two strikes to Jung Hu Lee.
