Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the iconic Tai Chong Intercontinental Baseball Stadium the proud home of the CTBC brothers and their legendary fan base the unwavering and incredibly dedicated Million Elephant fans But what exactly defines an Elephant fan Let’s rewind a bit In 1984 the Brother Hotel Group in Taipei founded the Brother Elephants One of Taiwan’s earliest professional baseball teams Their symbol the Elephant symbolizes strength loyalty and resilience Values that the fans embraced wholeheartedly In 2013 CTBC Financial Holding took over the team rebranding them as the CTBC brothers However the elephant symbol and the team’s loyal fan base remained as strong as ever Regardless of the rebranding the fans are known as elephant fans orangi in Mandarin a name that embodies their unwavering passion and commitment The name can be broken down into two parts which means elephant and represents the original team name and me which means fan referring to a devoted and passionate supporter Put them together and you have the roaring drumbeating towel swinging elephant fans and their spirit it’s undeniably strong full of energy and pride with the largest fan base in Taiwan They’re known as the Baiwani or million elephant fans Their unwavering support stands out as they back their team through every challenge Their loyalty goes beyond just attending games They actively support the team in countless ways From organizing fan events to lifting the players spirits through thick and thin One powerful example of their dedication is the throat slashing incident on October 30th 2008 when brothers elephants fans gathered at the bus lane after the fifth game of the CPBL Championship Series attempting to surround the Uni Lions team bus The situation escalated until the police intervened to ensure the bus could safely depart Today the influence of the elephant fans is clearer than ever In the latest All-Star game vote CTBC Brothers players dominated nearly every position a testament to the immense support and power of their fan base The CTBC brothers also consistently lead the CPBL in TV ratings and home game attendance demonstrating the widespread enthusiasm of the elephant fans both in the stands and at home While every team has loyal supporters the Elephant fans stand out It’s about being a part of a community built over decades of shared victories down by 19 points they made a remarkable comeback to defeat the Kings and secure a crucial win Let’s take this moment to celebrate Suen Ru’s incredible journey This season Sue earned the league’s most improved player award the first team defense and the second team all league After four years of hard work and perseverance he finally received these welldeserved honors When asked about his recognition Sue humbly admitted he was a bit surprised But his achievements speak for themselves As the first ever winner of the most improved player award in the TPBL Sue had a breakout season starting in 26 of 31 regular season games He averaged 10.9 points 4.2 rebounds 2.1 assists and 1.5 steals per game with a nearly 36% three-point shooting rate and an efficiency rating of 11.4 an inspiring leap from his stats in the previous season One of his standout moments came on December 14th 2024 when Sue scored a career-high 22 points in a home game against the Leopards His two clutch three-pointers in the final quarter sealed a 9587 victory earning him the title of clutch player Wearing the number 24 jersey for the Aquas Sue’s story has become a true symbol of resilience and the opportunity to challenge the record for most home runs in the first half of the CPBL season set at 22 homers by Chuishen of the Racketin Monkeys in 2019 [Applause] Meanwhile Linua of the Uni President Lions reached a personal milestone hitting his eighth home run of the season and surpassing his total from his first three years in the CPBL Second-year pitcher Lin Shuang has become a key reliever for the TSG Hawks using his signature change up to secure crucial victories He currently ranks among the top closers in successful relief appearances Their breakthrough stories are nothing short of a Cinderella tale making fans proud and happy for their progress Lynn Chering of the Racketan Monkeys at the age of 40 has become the oldest player to lead the batting title in CPBL history earning the comeback player of the year award in 2024 He has accumulated 53 hits so far this season maintaining a strong batting average of 333 taking the league’s lead in hitting after a game on June 19th surpassing his teammate Chun Chun Wei The oldest batting champion in CPBL history remains Lu Mining in 2010 who was 34 years and 303 days old at the end of the season In the same game Rocket Sunille of the Nepon Ham Fighters returned to the starting lineup In his game against the Sabu Minor League team he pitched two innings retiring all six batters he faced without allowing any runs
