Reed Garrett on the expectations for the Mets 2025 season: “Last year was not a fluke” | SNY

Read first day and how did it
feel incredible? It’s warm, sun’s
out. Got to those cleats on something. We haven’t done all
season, so it’s great to get down here. Speaking of that, the bullpen
has been a little bit reformed, but there’s some still from feel
familiar names with Stanek back in. He has back
in the addition of h. A mentor. What are your thoughts
on how strong the bullpen can be this year? Yes, I think, as long as everybody stays
healthy we should have. Have a great year. Looking forward to getting down
here and meeting the new guys and getting back up with the
guys that we had the chance to play with last year. I think it’s going to be a great
group. I think everybody who’s down
there and it was down there last year knows how much fun we
had. So we’re going to try to do the same thing. We can keep
it light and have a good time. And for you is there anything
that you’re working on in your pitch, Arsenal or is
there anything? You’re trying to develop or just try and
maintain your excellent Year from last year? Um I think there’s a Couple things just trying to
tweak and get a little bit
better. I think the four seam fastball
just working on that a little bit and I feel like I did a good job
of that over the offseason. Yeah, I think the biggest thing
is just staying healthy and going out there and competing
and trying to do the best I can. Every time I get the ball
and you had a Postseason? What was it like
in that environment where every game mattered so
much? It was crazy. I don’t think there’s really any
time that you can go to a major league baseball
game in the fans are living and dying by
every pitch that energy was incredible. It’s
something that you only dream about and you get
to experience it, it’s it’s awesome. I’m looking
forward to getting back there again and doing it again and then finally, The, the 25 Mets are. Getting together here. And yeah, but there’s a lot of optimism
especially with the signing of Soto and other. So what are your
thoughts? As we look forward to the 25 season? Yeah, I think we we did we kind of exceeded expectations
from everybody last year. So now those expert
to expectations are high and I think everybody expects us to come in
and compete and we as a team are expecting to come
in and compete. So I think it’s all about getting ready and
going out there and showing that That we last year
wasn’t a fluke and that we are here to here to compete.

Mets pitcher Reed Garrett speaks about his preparation in the offseason, and the expectations for the team in the upcoming season.
