What led to Mitch Garver’s Struggles?

So, if you take everything into consideration, why has this happened to Garver? What has led to his downfall with the Mariners? Two things I want to bring up. One, this may be obvious, but injuries. Injuries have played a huge part into his, I guess, disintegration of his talents over the years. Furthermore, it’s easier to forget that he is 34 years old, and sometimes players just fall off a cliff in their early to mid-30s, and that may have just been the case with him when he showed up to Seattle. The other thing I want to bring up is his stance and approach at the plate. Now, I’m not going to claim to be a batting expert or a swing expert or anything like that, but if you look at his highlights from 2019, his highlights from 2023, and then you compare that to his Mariner career, it is incredible how much his stance has changed and his approach has changed. Now, I would argue most of that’s probably been done due to injury. He’s gotten a lot stiffer over his career. He also doesn’t finish completely anymore on a swing, adding to the overall stiff look that he has at the plate. And he went from looking like a guy that had a plan at the plate, who drove the ball, to a guy the last two years looks like a National League pitcher trying to

These two things are my best guess.
