Yoshinobu Yamamoto has emerged as one of MLB’s BEST STARTERS! (Early 2025 highlights) | 山本由伸ハイライト
Here is the 26-year-old from Bizen, Japan, Yoshobu Yamamoto. In his second season with the Dodgers, the opening day starter back in his home country at the knees to get him looking. Cub strike first though as Amaya drives in Swanson. Back to the splitter to finish him off. Second K for Yamamoto. I mean, I know you can’t throw that every single pitch, but if I am throwing anything else, I I’m throwing it for a ball. Let me throw something off the plate. I don’t want to give them an opportunity to hit the fast ball or the curveball. Swing and a miss. He strikes out Swanson. Back to back Kes to open the fourth. And a one, two, three, fifth inning. Pinpoint with the fast ball from Yoshobu Yamamoto. 96 for Yamamoto. And that is backto back one, two, three innings against the Cubs. He’s retired nine straight. Yoshino Yamamoto gained so much confidence in the postseason last year. Game two of the World Series, one run over six and a third and the overall numbers right there. Fires one, two, and gets him swinging tailing fast for out number two. Excellent movement right there. You think could be a two seamer, but I think it’s a four seamer with that tailing action. It just goes in and jams him. Get out of my kitchen. Deuce is wild. Two on, two out and a two. fights his way out of trouble. Back-to- back splitters to get Keith and put up a zero in the first. Oh boy. Third consecutive K does it with a splitter. You can see they start the bat and then they lose the bat speed right when the ball starts to break. It’s like, oh no. And that’s the facial expression you get. On 02, Sweeney swings and misses. back to the splitter to get his fourth K already. Already five Ks for Yoshobu Yamamoto. That splitter just diving out of the zone. Yamamoto’s one, two. This time he rings him up with the fast ball is six. Booking Ks in this one, two, three, fourth and seven total for Yamamoto. Torres off first. Two from Yamamoto. Got it. Splitter fades away. Eight strikeout for Yamamoto on 22. Riley Green swings and misses. The splitter again finishes the job. The ninth K for Yamamoto. This is nasty. Crowd urging him on sensing this could be it right here. His 22 his 10th K in his Dodger Stadium 2025 debut. Yoshi Yamamoto with 10 strikeouts in five innings. Yoshino Yamamoto first career start against the Phillies. The best career stolen base percentages. Harper strikes out as Yamamoto goes back to the heat. Two-2 and is put away as Marsh is retired. Ground ball up the middle. Could be two. And it is nicely turned by the Dodgers to erase Castillanos. Strike three called outside corner as rung up. Yeah, this time it’s looking. It’s a four team fast ball away and just painted on Sto. Good morning, good afternoon, good night. Marsh is rung up to start the season. Harper on the ground sharply to Edmond to second for one on the first for a double play. 463 and beautifully turned at that 2-2. Pokes it on the ground to short. Bets, charges, fields, throws, got him. And Yamamoto has pitched six. Yamamoto’s been the best starter for the Dodgers so far. One unearned run against a really good Phillies lineup last Friday to drive his GR down to 169. Swing and a miss. Three consecutive splitters and that one works. Splitter, splitter, splitter. And like I said, if he’s getting that anywhere near the plate, it’ be a long evening for the Cubs. Here it comes. A fast ball and it blazes by him. Two up and two down and a pair of Kes for Yamamoto. Kicks and fires. swinging a miss. Strike three. Might as well just call that splitter like a magnet ball. Like there’s a magnet underneath home plate. You throw the ball high and all of a sudden the bottom drops out of it like it’s being drawn to the magnet. On the ninth pitch, takes a fast ball that nails the bullseye for strike three. It’s a splitter and it’s a devilish one. Strikeout number five for Yamamoto who’s retired the first 10 Cubs. Yamamoto’s payoff pitch with the runner on third and two gone. Got him swinging and a yell from Yama as he twirls off the mound stranding Tucker and getting through a fourth shutout frame. He’s looked every bit apart of a Sai Young contender. And I have no idea what in the world that pitch was at 95 moving like that. And a strike out. Fast ball blazes in there. His eighth. Here it comes. Six scoreless innings for Yamamoto. Nearly flawless tonight. Koshinobu Yamamoto, who has looked like one of the best pitchers in baseball so far, absolutely dominant on Friday against the Cubs. Six scoreless innings, struck out nine in that game. And there it is right there to strike out Simeon. Sets it up with a couple fast balls and out of that same tunnel falls off the table under the payoff. Got him. went back to the curb to get Seager and he’s got backto-back KS on this one. Two from Yamamoto. Garcia swings and misses and a third K already for Yamamoto. Yamamoto has the swing and miss working in the first inning. Went back to it to finish off Harris. Strikeout number four for Yamamoto. Two gone and five Ks over two scoreless innings for Yamamoto. Don’t figure you’re doing that if you’re not super comfy. Makes quick work of Young. strikes him out in the splitter. It’s his six. We showed the highlights of all the other strikeouts. The five before this were in this same location. Have your splitter and eat it too. Swing and a miss. Went to the slider to finish him off. Titamo with the curve ball. Ninth strike out of the game for Yamamoto. They are one for six off the curve ball. Now Harris runs again. Check. Swing throw down in time. It’s a strike them out. Throw them out to finish off seven scoreless. What a flourish to finish this one with. Jake Burgerer offered strikes out for the third time in this game. The 10th total for Yamamoto. And Harris is out at second with a nifty tag there from Tommy Edmond. That’s going to do it for Yamamoto. Seven scoreless innings, career-high 20 swings and misses helping produce those 10ks. Soshino Yamamoto has looked like the perfect pitcher lately with his National League leading 093 ERA. Swing and a miss. Two out. This is when Yamamoto is at his absolute toughest. A runner in scoring position in the league. Now two for 18 off of him with that strike out. Strikes out Fam with the high fast ball and finished him off with a curve ball. Got the three walks but he’s got three Ks now as well. Change speeds and change the eye line. And this one goes up where the fast ball was and then comes down into the glove. Kicks and throws a one, two, and a curve to get Connor Falefo waving and missing. You got him with a curve ball. Yamamoto with a one, two, three, fourth inning. Truck him out. Number five for Yamamoto. Good little splitter right there. Little armside run and some depth. Looks a lot like a fastball until it moves.
