With Nick Drafted By The White Sox, The McClain Brothers Hope To Join Other Legendary Sibling Trios
When Arizona State outfielder Nick McLain was drafted last month by the Chicago White Sox in the third round, he became the third McLain brother to join Major League Baseball.
Oldest brother Matt, a former first-round draft choice, is an infielder with the Cincinnati Reds.
And middle brother Sean is an infielder in the Dodgers organization.
In 2018, all three McLain brothers played on the same team at Beckman High in Irvine, with senior Matt at shortstop, junior Sean in right field, and freshman Nick at first base.
More than 450 brothers have played in the MLB over the years, but only a few dozen sibling trios, most notably the DiMaggio brothers, oldest brother Vince, Hall of Famer Joe, and seven-time all-star Dom.
On September 10, 1963, brothers Jesus Alou, Matty Alou and Felipe Alou batted consecutively for the San Francisco Giants. Five days later, they played side-by-side-by-side in the same outfield.
