we’ll hold our breath but not so long we’re going to have baseball tonight Sunday night baseball Dodgers and the Padres it just hasn’t been a good weather 48 hours but the baseball has been great tarp for the second night in a row as rare as it is on the field here at Dodger Stadium well there’s the best the best site you can see no matter the day or night is you’re going to a baseball game or watching one you want to see the tarp going in that direction Dodger ground crew has been pressed into duty the last two days but we are getting set for baseball 4:45 local time 7:45 eastern time the Big Maple James Paxton is now on the mound tonight for Los Angeles he’s been around the block he’s had a lot of adversity a lot of injuries he’s had to overcome says he feels good finally he’s healthy and still kind of an old school guy he pitches off of his fast ball first pitch beaten into the ground Muny on two hops to his left he throws across for diamond and Xander Bogarts the second basem for the Padres is retired 3-2 and this one is hit in the air to shallow left Kik went out now coming in still running and he is there to make the play K Hernandez didn’t get a good read off the bat but he’s there to make the play Manny Machado swings at the first pitch a Fly ball the opposite field to Oscar Hernandez twirling around on the warning track he reaches up and makes the grab so corworth stranded ma shadoo G packed in the scare but at the end of the top of the first it’s still scoreless Muki bet sh Otani and Freddy Freeman on the way 37y old pitch mix that’s what you think about when you think about that guy right there you darish he’s been at it for a long time he has and he throws a lot of different pitches and he’ll throw the kitchen sink at you but he’s always had exceptional spin on all of his breaking stuff mookie bets again three more hits last night I don’t know you like a Ops plus of 223 there he goes again mooki bets delivers another hit and he is aboard BS goes right away oh throw down not even close as M bets moves into scoring position the Padre’s catchers tonight cusano they have amongst the weakest arms just as far as throwing down good pitch down and in and Otani swings right over that cutter a strike out of sh Otani from darish Freddy Freeman now Skies it to left field profar charging in and towards the line on the move into foul territory he slides and he’s able to make the catch two away nice job by profar so little room there up against the little wall in foul territory and Jon makes the catch chance for the Lefty Max Muny he’s the third baseman 246 three homers 10 RBI on the year swings Skies it to the left of second base Kim calling for it fighting the gray skies a little bit backpedaling and he makes the catch to end the inning no runs a hit two men left on base and no score after one and now it will be the left hand hitting center fielder James outman outman on the line oh a play by Cronin I’m seeing this every day now wow wow and that one didn’t go through his webbing like it did in Korea he held on to it the glove stayed intact same glove but different leather holding this one together he did a similar play last night and again to his right Jake cranworth eggie Rosario will get in making his second consecutive start at third base and fourth start of the Year overall now there’s the hit right there by Rosario he’s touching first and heading to Second Kik slips on the mud he picks up the baseball Rosario a double out of the nine hole this kid can hit two home runs on the season limited play and he’s taking advantage and the bases are loaded for Jak cronenworth and cronenworth getting in having already walked once here tonight against Paxton cronenworth grounds it up the middle mookie bets is there steps on the bag for one throws the first for two that’s how you get out of a Bases Loaded Jam for James Paxton a 63 unassisted double play chado flew out to deep right field back in the first inning each team with one hit though the pods have drawn four walks in this game one-1 Machado hit this one hard the alman’s going back he’s looking up Manny Machado can touch them all little bat flip in front of his own Dugout Manny’s fourth and the Padres are on the board first looking at Manny Machado that was just a smart piece of hitting that at bat completely starts him off with the fast ball second Pitch is a change up for a strike he tracks it well and lefties when they throw the change up for a strike the next pitch they’re going to try to get that fast ball by you and Manny did not allow that to happen ripped that baseball the other ball out of his right pocket fired it back on the field to keep the authentic one ready Freeman leads off against UD darish three four and five to do up for the Dodgers Freeman pulls the ball right field hooking and getting down into the right field Corner tatis Jr Fields it and throws there won’t be a play at second that’s a standup double for Freddy Freeman got inside of it and not a lot of guys can keep that ball fair so Freeman in scoring position for Will Smith Smith still searching for his first knock of the series Smith this one is in to left center it’s going to get down Merill fires in it’s cut off by Bogarts and drop Freeman scores Will Smith with an RBI and it’s 1-1 that’s why when people say it’s the top three guys in the order it’s not that guy has a lot to do with it Will Smith who last year had more opportunities than anyone with Runners on base one-1 game in the bottom of the fourth still nobody out Max mun turn again Max Muny right field tatis there is no doubt about that blast Max Muny a two-run shot and the Dodgers punch back 382 ft Muny touches them all and this is what that Dodger offense can do tells the story of the old Switcheroo he made great plans for this well um I got caught but um every Ball Hawk out here knows to come prepared for a reason like this you know a hated Padre hits a home run you don’t throw it back you’re going to get booed mercilessly by the Dodger faithful uh that’s happened to me in the past before so I try to come prepared and um I put the ball in my pocket just in case it happened and I knew Machado big big power hitter was up and it could happen so I I was ready and now the bases are loaded with nobody out for Luis campasano grounded softly out to BS it short goes to second one lux’s turn is in time a double play and he comes in to score it is now 3 to2 Ty one at third up the middle BTS Dives and Freddy Freeman cannot scoop it it goes into the Dugout and to second base goes Jackson Merill what an effort by Muki Betts but his throw was way to the left of Freddy Freeman the base is loaded one out for jerks in profile and that one is hard hit to Center outman going back still going back it’s over his head then it ricochets away three runs are going to come in profar will jam on the brakes it second a huge base clearing double to give the Padres a six3 lead here’s your hard hit rate at 102.8 mph he got all he got a lot of this one I’m not going to say all of it because it did not leave the ballpark but this pitch stays up he gets on top of it beautifully and then he thinks this Ball’s out of here here’s cusano down by three this would be a great time to get the fourth double play of the the evening first and third here’s the pitch grounder and Freddy looks back throws to mooki and wow what a play by that infield Freeman look back Machado through to bets and they get the slow running C Yano on a double play that was a clinic put on by Freddy Freeman snowballing toward a comeback KK Hernandez up the middle could be the game Bogarts to First double play and the Padres take two of three in Los Angeles and they win the Sunday nighter 63
