[Music] Hello all you beautiful cardboard dgens. Welcome back to the old guy studio. And today is the box battle I have been promising you for some time is old guy verse JB JV baseball cards. I’m going to link him right down here and feel free to go check out his channel. like, sub, let him know OG sent you. And uh feel free to go cheer him on. You better be cheering for me to win. But that’s okay if you want to cheer for him. I’ll accept that. Uh first off, I’m going to apologize. It’s past lunch. My stomach is growling like crazy. So if you do hear random growls, there is no dog trying to eat me. It’s just my stomach. And uh we’re going to be doing a little box battle here. It’s a little different than what I was doing with dad and daughters. This is going to be team- based. So he’s a huge Met fan. I’m a big Red Sox fan and um even when we were talking about this 1986 was just in the back of my mind. This is going to be painful. So I I got to do this for the 1986 team. Uh anyways, he is Mets. I’m Red Sox are and I’ll I’ll I’ll put up like a little splash here so you can see um what the rules will be, but it’s a base or silver prism is one point. Uh any numbered card over 100 is two points. Any numbered below 100 is three points. Any numbered card that is equal or less than 25 is five points. Auto is three. Bonus points if it’s numbered according to the other numbers. So, for instance, if you get a numbered card out of 10, it would be worth 28 points. And then if we pull a 101 or a color blast, it’s an automatic win. I didn’t ask him about groovy or snake skins. I probably should have, but I totally forgot about it. So, we can make an addendum if we want. It’s all cool. Anyways, um and this is all based off Red Sox Mets. So, I have to get Red Sox hits. He has to get Mets hits. And that’s it. Simple, easy. I’ll throw up the points. I’ll have a running point total going at the top. And uh hopefully you guys can uh enjoy along with us. I got this uh box from my LCS. Shout out Brian New England Sports Cards. Hooked me up with a great deal so I can partake in another box battle. And I’m pretty excited to get going. So, do me a huge favor. So, we’re going to get 12 packs. We’re going to get three guaranteed autos. We’re looking for color blasts. We’re looking for snake skins. We’re looking for Groovy. They even have dual autos in here. Um, this is a really, really good set. Very sneaky. Where else can you get a box for $140 and get all these guaranteed? Like every pack is going to have a number card in it. So we got 12 packs. We’re going to get at least 12 number cards. Some of these gonna have two. The big hits are sometimes bundled in there with the other ones. With that all said, let’s go Red Sox. Let’s hope for some big Romanies in here, shall we? So I don’t I’m filming this on Saturday, so I have to also I have to apologize to JB baseball. I I messed up. I was this was supposed to be have to be done for Friday and I misinterpreted a message like being an old guy you know we just get flighty see a squirrel and we’re off in another world. So this was supposed to be done yesterday and I I totally messed it up. So I apologize to JV. It is my fault we’re late. And here we go. So first number card. Is it going to be an auto? It does not. It’s going to be Tony Perez. That’s going to be on the um Pulsar and it’s going to be out of $4.99. And behind it, we get a little Tom Glavine. And behind that, oh boy, we get a big hit right off the bat. That’s Chase Dander. That’s going to be out of 25. Unfortunately, that’s not a Red Sox, so that’s not going to help. However, it is still a really nice card. If that was a Red Sock, that would be worth uh five points. But let’s still go up on the stage cuz it’s a nice card. All right, I didn’t skip any Red Sox in there, did I? Dton Rushing, Perez, Brain Tail. Let me look at them real quick to make sure I didn’t forget any Red Sox. I’m gonna have to be in a mode to just look for Red Sox. All right, next pack. Unfortunately, that’s going to be one of our better hits. Normally, you do get one decent no number card, and that’s probably going to be it. So, we got to hope for a really good Red Sox auto in here. Here we go. I’m going to get through the base here and we have that’s pretty nice auto. It’s not going to help, but that’s Kalin Co Pepper. That is an upandcomer for the Twins. It’s not going to be numbered. That’s just base, but that’s a really nice auto. And uh sometimes you can get some eh autos in here, but when you get a I think he’s top 30 prospect, might even be higher now. That’s a good hit. And then we got Theo Gillan from Tampa Bay. Ken Griffy G Ken Griffy Senior on the Red Wave. These are not numbered if I didn’t say that before. And we’re still looking for our first Red Sox. So we’ll get these guys up on the stage. The Red Waves are just non-numbered parallels. They’re nice, but we need them on the Red Sox. All right, so got to apologize. Got a little bit of a cold. It is that time of year. I was up super late watching those awesome baseball games yesterday. Um I know the score of the Toronto Mariners game. Didn’t really denote a good game, but it was a good game until um until Suarez until Gino decided that it wasn’t going to be anymore. All right. And then Shay Otani last night. Dear Lord, I’m really stressing my brain to try to figure out if I’ve seen a better game than that on such a big big stage before. I honestly don’t remember. Um, three home runs, six six shutout innings, and three home runs. I mean, h how do you how do you have a better game than that? So, definitely if you’re seeing this on Sunday, uh make sure you grab this Top Snow card if it’s available. It’s probably going to be the biggest print run we’ve ever seen on a Top Now card, but there’s a chance. And I saw the attendants run out and grab his jersey, his sleeve, his batting glove. So, I’m sure we got some items coming that are probably going to be redemptions. And it’s going to be some fun stuff. We’re still looking for our first red sock. That’s actually a decent one. Edguero and the Wizard. Wow. So, when I edit this, I’ll have to look to see if I if I’ve missed any Red Sox cuz this is uh getting a little skunked here. This is Quero on the blue prism. That’s going to be out of 199. this kid can hit and I think he’s a halfdeent defensive catcher, but I think he’s more offense first. So, I think him and Kio will probably be sharing that um sharing the duties over there. So, we’ll make a little stack for our blue prisms there. All right, so we still get eight packs. We’re a third of the way through. We don’t have a point yet. It’s a little scary. All right, let’s see what we get here. Another Kalin Co Pepper. We got Christian Moore. Malcolm Moore. We got I’ll definitely take Whoa. Okay. Well, what a fantastic pack. Where are you Red Sox? This is crazy. So, we get a cherry blossom on a rookie this time. We’re getting all the really low numbered hits. That’s going to be 16 out of 20. That’s Dante Nori on the cherry blossom. These are really cool. They have the cherry blossoms on the outside and they also have that kaleidoscope effect on it. Very cool card. Uh we’re getting some big hits. So I think even if I lose this, I’m going to be pretty happy because there are some really nice cards in here so far. And we got skins on the pulsar. That’s going to be out of $4.99. Happily take those. All right. Still hunting for the first Red Sox. I’m getting a little worried. Let’s see what we got here. All right, we have Cliff Lee on the green scope. Peewee Reese on the red wave. Hey, we got a Boston player. We got a point. Thank goodness. Thank goodness. Jedixen PZ. So, we got one. We’re on the board. Get P Reese in a sleeve. Get him on the stand there. And we’ll get Cliff Lee and the green scope. That’s going to be out of 75. We’ll get him up on the stage as well. Not bad. All right, so we’re down to six pack. So, halfway through, we have a whopping one point unless I missed anything. Oh boy. Starting to get a little nervous. This is Ethan Holiday. I think these are his first cards, so I definitely want to make sure I sleeve that one. We have on the blue Stling Cabba. That’s going to be out of 199. We got Pablo Sandal not in his Red Sox. Oh boy, we could be in trouble here, folks. I’m hoping I can get more than one point here or I’m going to be sending JV a card. We’ll add that to that stack right there. Non-numbered stack. And I am officially getting a little worried. I don’t want to go out the way the Brewers went out too soon. Sorry Brewers fans. I don’t think anybody’s beat my Dodgers this year. I’m really hoping for My first hope was Mariners and Brewers. That’s that I think that would have been a really fun series, but nobody’s beaten the Dodgers, guys. They’re they’re built for this time. They’re so stacked. And uh yeah, and they’re pitching. Oh my god, they’re pitching. I mean, even who’s who’s going to touch these guys? You can’t get a hit. We got Bud Celig on the pulsar, Chase Davis on the Prism. Hey, Roman. All right, we got two points. two points. Thank goodness he showed up. All right, things are starting to look up. We doubled our point total. Oh my god, I’m in so much trouble. Oh, JV said very sheepishly that uh he was getting prepared to send me a card cuz he already ripped his because again I was late. Um but I’m starting to get a little worried here. We got four packs and I have two points unless I miss something. What I’ll do is at the end I’ll uh I’ll scan through my stack. I’ll fast forward really fast and see if I missed anything. I really hope I did. All right, we got the kid. Not bad. Where are you? Red Sox on the power prism. Thomas Harrington second autograph. Colt Keith. So we’re getting some really nice autographs. This is going to be at 199 I think. Trantos. We get skins, Seismore, Yogi Barra. So that’s our second auto and it’s a good one. So we got some really good autos and that’s going to be out of 199. Not bad. So so far we got two decent autos. We got all sorts of number cards. This Power Prism is going to be out of 99. We got two really no low number cards. 10 out of 99. And we still got three packs and we got two points. Oh god. Oh, come on. There’s got to be something good in here. Hey, Christian Campbell. There we go. We got three. Oh, Franklin Arias right behind him. Look at that. We just doubled our point total just like that. Blink of an eye. That was a nice coalation. Yeah, Franklin Aras. All right, so I’m feeling a little better now. Still pretty sure we’re losing, but now I think we’re in striking distance. One good card and we could probably do it. I hope. Hey, there we go. That’s two points. Jixen PZ on the red and Josh North right behind it as our last auto. So this is out of one uh 299 the red prism and that’s going to be two points. So, we are up to six points. Oh, look at that one. That one’s going to the trash. Much better. So, we are up to six points. Yep, six points. All right, we got our third auto Josh from the Brewers. This is just a base, but all three autos are people I’ve heard of or I know. And the best one, of course, being the Co Pepper. And let’s finish off this pack. We got Lavlet chang. And we’re down to two packs. We have six points. Oh boy. I really hope I missed a couple Red Sox in that stack because I have a feeling I’m going to need them. Uh, move this up a little so I can give myself a little room. All right, let’s see what we got here. Clemens in Toronto. That’s unfortunate. I saw the name. I got really excited there for a second. Thank you. All right, there’s two more points. We’re getting really close to Hey, there’s another point. Little mayor on the talisman. All right. Now, now we’re hitting our stride. We saved it all to the end. All right. So, let’s get these guys in sleeves. Get him in the non-numbered pile. We got Mayor on the talisman. So, that’s another point. And then we got Jim Ed on the Pulsar. That’s out of 499. So, that is another two points. So, I believe we’re up to nine now. Now, I would say we have a legitimate shot. One, two, three, four, five, nine. Nine points. All right. So, let’s see what’s left in here. Or did I already do that? I did. All right. Last pack, guys. We need something big in here. We need one good number card. One good number card. Let’s see what we got. Aaron Judge. Not bad. John Smoltz, not a Red Sox. Harman Kilibru on the purple out of 149. That would have been a good one to get. Behind that, Aron Escobar, another good card, not helping us. Christian Moore, Brooks Lee, Hston Kerstad, and Andy Pettit. So, as of my initial count, I have nine points. I’m going to quickly go through my stack to make sure I didn’t miss anything because I am old. Does happen. And uh then we’ll do a quick recap and we’ll have to go see what uh what JV did to us because I have a feeling he nine points. I’m not feeling too confident. All right. So, what I’m going to do is I’m going to hit mute, play some silly music, and I’m going to buzz through these stacks real quick just to make sure I didn’t miss anything. 3 2 1 see you in 15 seconds. Okay, quick stop. That card was stuck to the bottom of that other card. Okay, we’re back. So, evidently I missed one. This was stuck to It’s even damaged, too. This was stuck to the bottom of Maddox. So, evidently, uh I don’t even know who this kid is, but he is a Red Sox, so I guess I’m up to 10 points now. And I hope I didn’t miss any on the um let’s do a quick recap of these first and then we’ll go over the uh the rest of the hits. So these are all the non-numbered hits. Just making sure I didn’t miss any Red Sox in here. It is possible. All right. Nothing in there. All right. So let’s go over these hits and then we’ll go over our final count. By my count, it looks like we have 10 points. Not sure if that’s going to hold up, but you never know. So, we got Posines on the Pulsar of 499. Arman Kilibru on the purple. That’s going to be out of 149. Very cool. We got Starling Cabba the blue out of 199. Cliff Lee on the green scope. I really love this effect like kaleidoscopes out of 75. Edward Quero, that’s a blue prism out of 199. Kalin Co Pepper. Probably one of the best cards of the the box. And that’s his auto. This is base. We got Cole Keith on the Pulsar auto. That’s out of 199. And we get Josh North on the base sensational signatures. That’s just a base auto. We get Thomas Harrington. I don’t know much about this kid. I can’t even see the team. I think it’s he plays for the Pirates. So, there it is. Pirates. This is the Power Prism out of 99. Still don’t know why they call it Power Prism, but all the power to him. Yeah, I just said that. Um, we got this fell right here, Mr. Jang. That’s out of 299 Red Prism. And then we got two really nice hits. We got Dante Nory on the cherry blossom. And this again has that kaleidoscope effect on it which is really cool. That’s at a 20. And then we got Chase Dander on the talisman and this is on the I think they call it Mojo. I think they could call it something else. I know one company calls these tracks, but I think it’s called Mojo. And that’s going to be out of 25. Solid hit if this kid can put it together. I just worried about him pitching for Colorado. And then we got the Red Sox. So, we got a surprise. We had Yordani Monro um literally stuck to uh Greg Maddox here. You can actually see some of the damage on the card. So, luckily it’s just some random dude, but it is a Red Sox, so it’s one point. Marcela Meyer, two points. Franklin Aras, three points. Jedixen PZ four points. Roman Anthony, five. Christian Campbell six. Jedixen PZ two. Jim Rice too because these are both over 100 199 and a pulsar out of out of 499. So that is four five 6 7 8 9 10 points. I’m not feeling too good about that. I think I might be sending JV a card. Oh well, it’s all fun in games until you got to send people cards. Anyways, I do have some cool cards. I don’t know which one I’m going to send them. I might send them this one. I I’m saying it like I I lost. I’m pretty sure I did. But I did find this. I PC both of these guys, but this is a really cool card. And we wanted it to be I think he said like10 to$20. I’m sure this is in that range. So I’ll probably send him this one cuz I’m sure he will really like this card. Uh I’ll check with him first to make sure he wants it. And that is a wrap, folks.
