Wow, so beautiful, wow. Wow, this is incredible. Come out and you can already see the river. Wow, wow, wow! Shift down one gear first. Let me try the crab first. Good morning everyone, this is Jason. Have you been feeling a bit bored riding bikes in Hong Kong? It feels too dangerous riding on the main roads, so today I’ll take you from Lo Wu to ride in a lakes-and-mountains area in Shenzhen. There will be some light gravel and some nice scenery to see. There will be some light gravel and some nice scenery to see. There’s a European-style town and also good food. Before we start, a quick reminder. Hope you can like, subscribe, and share this video. With your support, more similar content will be made. And if there’s anywhere you want to go, or any route you’re particularly interested in, feel free to leave a comment and let me know. Okay, enough talk, let’s set off now. Alright, after crossing the border, come straight here and go down to the metro station. We’re now at Luohu Station. We’ll ride a few stops to Science Museum Station, then we can get on one line all the way to Heshui Kou. Right now it’s 9:30. We actually met at Lo Wu at 7:45. Including crossing the border, that already took about 1 hour 45 minutes. From Heshui Kou, it’s at least 12 km to get over to Songshan Lake. We’ll do an extra loop around Songshan Lake, and on the way we’ll find somewhere to eat first. After eating, we’ll ride the same way back, another 12 km. The whole route only has a bit over 300 meters of climbing, so it’s basically flat. A very simple and beginner‑friendly route. After getting off the metro, follow the route from the start and walk like this, and you’ll see a really good breakfast place across the street. So we’ll go in and have a look. You can see everything is freshly baked. Wow, nice. This is really first‑class as breakfast, unbeatable. The goose leg is super tasty. We basically wiped everything clean, it’s that good. After a cup of coffee, we’ll head off. At the start here, there are quite a lot of people and a bit more traffic, but if you look at the ground markings, this is actually a cycle track. Right from the beginning, you come out and already see a river. There’s even kayaking. Would you rather paddle on Shing Mun River, or paddle here? Nice, the sky is a bit overcast now, so it’s not as beautiful as when we went to Ma On Shan last time, but it feels more comfortable because it’s not as sunny and not as hot. Okay, we’ve got a sign now. Guangdong Luotian Forest Park. Country trail. Now we’re at the gravel section; the roads here are either really broken or there’s a kind of dirt section up ahead. You can see their suspension is working to the limit. And we don’t even have suspension. Wow, they’re riding mountain bikes as well. But personally there’s no need to split it so finely. As long as it has a flat bar, it’s all the same. Go down carefully, don’t blow a tire. Keep going straight. Ride through over to the dunes there. This is really a high‑difficulty gravel route. On this kind of surface, with my gravel bike I could just put the power down and go. It would definitely be great fun. But with a folding bike now, I have to be a lot more careful. Jade Songshan Lake. We’ve now entered the cycle track area. It’s cycle track all the way. So from this moment on, don’t worry about cars rushing up behind. You can even rent tandem bikes here. So cool. That’s real teamwork. Unless you don’t help pedal. Then it’s fake teamwork. Those bikes look great, the style is really nice. Especially when going uphill, you can see they really need to pedal. We can turn into this side branch and take a look. Let’s test our camera’s stabilisation here. If I cut this section out for you later, you’ll be able to see whether the stabilisation works. Let’s look at the flower field. This one here is blooming nicely. There are a few flowers. Not that many. But you can see the pink colour. These are bauhinia flowers. Apparently only these are bauhinia. These are bauhinia? Are we here for cherry blossoms now? Over there, Wan Hui Cloud Valley is the starting point of this year’s Songshan Lake event. The start of the Songhu 200 km. Riding here at Songshan Lake is super comfortable. It’s cool today. Riding while looking at the lake. On really smooth cycle tracks. So good. And actually, by coming via the metro and then riding a little bit, you really don’t need to ride long. You can reach Songhu very quickly. Originally you’d probably need to call a car to get here. But we just take the metro to somewhere nearby then ride a bit. And right away you can enjoy a more leisurely section. Prettier scenery. Because outside you can see some people have gone down to the lakeside. Having picnics, taking a walk. Okay, suddenly we found a gravel path to play on. Very nice. Suddenly found a gravel path. Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Didn’t lock it tight enough. Even cried. Will that crying sound get into the shot? Continue this gravel section around the lake. Here it’s much smoother again. It’s become sandy. Just need to avoid the tree roots. Even if you don’t want to ride this gravel bit, there’s already a cycle track beside us. But personally this is quite fun. So we came in here to play. On our right is already the lake surface. We’re about to reach the European‑style town. This part is a bit dark. But you can see over there. Looks really cool. There’s even a boat here. Forty yuan for a whole day. Double bike is eighty yuan. Double bike with assist is one hundred fifty yuan. You can even add assist on a tandem. Wow! Wow, so beautiful! We’re now at Huawei’s training centre. You can see a super beautiful bridge. Super beautiful. Why is this training centre built like a castle‑themed park? Look how pretty it is inside; we’re not allowed in. Only staff who are really here for training can go in. But we can see lots of Western‑style buildings inside. There are small bridges and castles. And these docks. Buildings. And this big bridge. It’s as pretty as a theme park. There are even two golden retrievers playing in the water. We just passed through this little dike. A kind of small embankment. Now we’ll go look for food. On the right there are lots of people camping. There are camper vans and tables. Tents. Also net beds and hammocks. Very relaxing. Quite fun. Hey, someone’s riding a horse. Someone riding a horse is the real chill vibe, in my opinion. It says “English equestrian” here. Here you can see how much the riding costs. The trial lesson is 200 yuan per person. We suddenly saw a gravel section. Motorbikes are not allowed in. Only bicycles can go in and play on the gravel. So let’s go in. Actually regular riders can skip this road. Okay. This is familiar gravel. With a bit of loose stone feeling. And some sand. If you suddenly put down too much power here, the front might wash out. Yeah. This kind of road. It’s actually quite similar to the paths by ponds in Hong Kong. It’s starting to slide. Can you feel it? When we ride gravel, this is exactly what we like. That feeling of not having much grip. Now Patrick is being forced to ride faster. So we can better enjoy that sliding gravel feeling. So爽! We’re on top of the dam now. Speeding along. Now as we ride, we’ve dropped down to this kind of river. You can see some very pretty little houses. But no one lives there. Passing this sports ground, we can cross to the other side. The other side has a ton of food. Now the dishes have arrived. First up is the crab. The crab pot comes first. This is their signature crab pot. Not sure if it’s because there are three of us, so there are three crab shells. On the menu it shows two larger crab shells. Next is bullfrog. I’ve never eaten bullfrog before. Perilla bullfrog. They also gave us an appetiser. Cucumber. Let me try the crab first. Let me find some crab meat. There it is. Wow. Looks like not much meat. Let’s try it. It does taste of crab. But I usually eat a spicier version so it’s more fragrant and flavourful. This time we chose mild spicy because two friends can’t eat spicy. So we ordered mild. Feels a bit too mild. Let’s try the bullfrog. This is quite tasty. This windmill is so pretty. We’ve come to another European‑style town. That family is amazing. First they’re on a tandem bike, then towing their daughter on roller skates. Their transport carries three people like a little castle. But it’s all human‑powered. On our left now is Hogwarts. But all these beautiful buildings are completely fenced off. We can only look. There’s no way to go in and visit. Although they’re not historical buildings, there’s not really much to see inside. It might just be a normal office inside. You can see a staff training area that even has a train. They’re waiting for the train. Here comes the train. Wow, wow, wow! Why? How can it be this over the top? You can see here there’s a dining car on top. It even has a name. But the writing is too small to read. It’s even a steam locomotive. So over the top. But this dining car is only inside the staff training area. It’s not just for decoration. So extravagant. This Huawei staff training area is super over the top. Pretty cool, really beautiful. It’s a pity we can’t go in, but many spots are great for taking photos. So lots of people come here for wedding photos and other styles of photos. It’s really very suitable. Hopefully they can open more areas for people to shoot in. Our Songhu trip has now completed a loop. We’ll now set off back towards Shenzhen to our starting point at Heshui Kou. On the way back we’ll have to pass this section again. This isn’t light gravel. This is heavy gravel. So we can’t really go fast here. But overall it’s still rideable, not too slippery. And there aren’t too many sharp rocks. Mainly because this probably connects to some warehouses. So there are lots of big trucks. They’ve worn the road out, but it hasn’t been resurfaced. So there’s a lot of sand on top. Wow, wow. It’s rougher here. Let me shift down one gear. Careful, it’s slippery. But keep riding up. Keep the traction. Enough grip. Press down on the rear wheel. Even if there were dogs here, you couldn’t race them. So far just two chickens. Wow, lots of chickens. Oh dear. Dropped the chain again. We’ve now done the round trip between Songshan Lake and Heshui Kou in Shenzhen. In the middle section there is some gravel. Of course this was added on purpose by our senior. Because he really likes gravel, and so do we. But actually there’s also a road beside it which is easier and still rideable if you’re afraid of sections that are too hard. You can go on the slightly more western road. But the road we took is a shortcut; it goes much more directly there. And the roads in Hong Kong aren’t that smooth either, so you can take this route, it’ll actually be simpler, just a straight line over to Zhongziyuan. We’re almost there. Wow! So exciting! Wow, yeah! This section is rough! Alright, so we rode back from Songshan Lake along the same way to the Heshui Kou metro station on the Shenzhen side. If you liked this video, remember to comment, like, and subscribe to the channel. You can also share your thoughts on this route. Is it too hard or too easy? Do you want to see more climbing? We’ll then follow the same way we came, ride back to Heshui Kou, take the train back to Lo Wu border, then return to Hong Kong and end this trip. Hope to see you in the next video, bye everyone.
