I think what’s great about Jav is that you don’t, you know, there there’s, you know, you put him into any situation and, you know, he’s going to, you know, not shy away from it and and he’s going to bring his best stuff and, um, do he’s going to do him, um, no matter kind of what’s going on around him. And, you know, it, you know, it seemed like a quiet game is 3-1. We weren’t going to get much going when Ian Ian delivers a homer and it’s 3-2 and Jav’s still out there. We obviously get the big call overturn, but in the end it’s it’s two and a third scoreless innings. Um, puts the game in a good position for Caleb and Andrew or Kit to get the uh Kit to get the outs and finish it up. So, really nice job by the bullpen for sure. Can you talk about Nico, not only today, but all year long he’s just been so consistent. Yeah, I mean I mean he’s I think he’s hitting around 300 now. It’s pretty darn close, which is not a it’s a thing of the past it feels like. And it’s really hard to do, but um this this month it’s felt like I don’t know what he’s hitting this month, but it’s felt it’s felt like a lot. There’s a lot of base hits in there and um yeah, two two big hits today. Drove in three of the runs today. Um and and just a big swing. Big swing when you need one. What has it meant to have, you know, certain guys who have been going through some slumps or are not producing the way they were earlier in the year, but have other guys kind of be able to step up? Well, that’s what a team is. I think that’s what you that’s what good teams do. Um, it’s it’s it’s rarely you can’t in baseball. It can’t be one guy. Uh the the rules aren’t set like that. There’s a nineman order and and you’re going to need everybody to do it. And um we’ve got some guys banged up right now and we’ve got some guys under the weather. Um it’s changed a little bit of some things, but um you just step up and find a way to win and and there’s nobody better than Nico and and Dansby at figuring out things like that. You guys uh found a way to win games while getting out homerred, which is a very low percentage number in Major League Baseball, right? Uh you and you talked about it a little early in the year that we’re going to have to find some way to do it cuz we’re not always going to hit home runs. So yeah, I mean it’s, you know, they they they got off to a good start and they two two really tough hitters. I mean those those two guys are those are really two really good hitters. Um and you know they got Shota early. Um he, you know, I thought he kind of he had he had to figure out what was going to work today and he had to get it going and he had to get it going pretty fast after you’re down two nothing. You can’t give much much else up. Um he did that. Um and that’s sometimes that’s what a major league start looks like. You got to figure it out and you got to you just got to get enough outs to keep your team in the game and I thought that’s what showed did today. Um you know we got some big hits today. Absolutely. You made an interesting call at the end uh on the interference play. Were you shocked that um it went your way? Well, first of all, I think I want to give some credit to our to Alex Smith who who kind of anonymously handles the replay all the time and and every day and uh and is really really good at it. Um but that’s the rule. We had a play the other day that we actually showed the guys that was kind of close to it. Um and so as really just a reminder of the rule um and and what can um what can happen with the rule and so look the rule is that if you’ve impeded the guy and the D you have to complete the play. Uh Danby has to complete the throw for there to be interference. That’s a really important part of the rule. Um but that was the rule is that’s to protect the infielders. The rule is to protect the infielders. Um, and you know, did we catch a break there? You know, yeah, we caught a break, but but um, you know, it was it was a good call to to to take a chance on it on the on the overturn and got it. Is he troubleing today with Yeah, he’ll be in Pittsburgh. Yeah. Is he feeling any better? Uh, he’s not making much progress. Maybe a little better today. Um, don’t expect him in the lineup tomorrow. What are you seeing from Pete at the plate right now? Um, oh, look, I thought I thought whatever bat it was at bat two or three, I thought Pete had a wonderful at bat. Really, really good at bat. Um, other than that, you know, he’s he’s struggling. He’s struggling a little bit. Yeah. I mean, after, you know, they get the hits, like you can’t take back those runs. So, I was trying to figure out, okay, moving forward, how do I prevent them from scoring more runs some somehow some way, even when you don’t have your best stuff, you you seem to be able to keep the game um together and your team in it. Is that from experience? Is that just something that goes with the concentration of being a veteran pitcher? for question. Yeah, you know, with the past outing and then today’s outing, six inning, three runs, five innings, three runs, I don’t know if I can really say, you know, like kept us in the game. I mean, I would put a question mark next to that, but I think, you know, with everybody around me, um, with the coaches, especially today, you know, talking to me in between innings, trying to figure out how to, you know, get to the next inning. I think without their help, you know, I wouldn’t be here. So, I think it’s it’s really um the help of them. You’ve been around Nicoer for two seasons now. What about his game have you learned to really appreciate that he kind of does on a gameto basis? Monday. Um, you know, doesn’t matter if he’s feeling great or if he’s not feeling great. You know, you can tell he has a high baseball IQ and, you know, it’s he’s very consistent and I think I think he went to Stanford. So, you know, I think that goes along with that, too. What do you uh what do you think of Wrigley Field after pitching here for two years? And uh is there a way for a pitcher to change the way he pitches or manipulate how uh on a given day when the wind’s blowing one way or another you go about your business? [Music] Yeah. with the, you know, wind blowing in, you know, you can attack hitters with fast balls. Um, especially like early on this year. Um, but now, you know, the hitters know like how I pitch. I mean, the data is out there. So I think as a pitcher I need to change um if my goal is to you know try to stay here uh for a very long
