نابولي: من العدم إلى المجد (فيلم وثائقي)

Napoli enjoyed a long period at the top of Italian football, but their fall after years at the summit marked a radical turning point in the club’s history. What is Napoli’s story, and how did they literally return from nothing to glory? With Maradona at the end of the 1980s and beginning of the 1990s, Napoli achieved the best period in its history, winning five titles, including two league titles, one Italian Cup, and one Italian Super Cup, in addition to the most important title in the club’s history on the European and international level, the UEFA Cup, now known as the Europa League. However, after Maradona’s departure, the club collapsed. In the first season after Maradona’s departure, the club finished in eleventh place, but their worst finish came in the 1997/1998 season when they finished last with only fourteen points. This was not only their worst finish after Maradona’s departure but also the worst finish in the club’s history, and Napoli was relegated to Serie B for the first time since In the 1962/1963 season, they finished their first season in Serie B in tenth place with fifty-one points. The reason for this poor season was the high number of draws, as they drew fifteen matches. However, in stark contrast, they finished their second season in second place with sixty-three points and returned to Serie A. Even after their promotion, they were relegated for the second time, finishing seventeenth with thirty-six points. This time was very different, as they spent three seasons in Serie B. In their third season, the club finished the league in fourteenth place with fifty-six points, but Napoli was relegated due to losing a relegation case because of debts of seventy million euros, which later led to the club’s bankruptcy. However, Napoli was fortunate because bankruptcy did not mean the end of the club’s professionalism. The new Italian football regulations allowed a city whose team collapsed to retain it under another company, and in Napoli’s case, four companies were already established to acquire it. The club was founded by Luciano Gucci, president of Perugia, and Paolo De Luca, president of Siena, who both established companies hoping to create a new Napoli. On August 26th, film producer and owner of Filmuro, Aurelio De Laurentiis, founded Napoli Soccer. On September 10th, De Laurentiis became president of the club, and its name was changed from Societta Sportiva Calcio Napoli to Napoli Soccer. In De Laurentiis’ first season as president, the club finished third and entered the Serie B playoffs. In the semi-finals, they qualified at the expense of Sambenedettese with an aggregate score of 3-1. In the playoff final, they faced Avellino and lost 2-1, remaining in Serie C. However, in his second season, Napoli qualified for Serie B in first place with 68 points. This season was the biggest An Italian club competing in Serie B, Juventus, was relegated due to the Calciopoli scandal. As a result, they finished the season in second place with 79 points, six points behind Juventus, who finished 85. Napoli returned to Serie A after a nine-year absence. The club signed Daniele Magnini and Marek Hamsik from Brescia for €7 million and €5.5 million respectively, Ezequiel Lavezzi from San Lorenzo, Manuele Blasi from Juventus for €5 million, Michele Pazienza from Fiorentina for €4.25 million, goalkeeper Nicolás Navarro from Argentinos Juniors for €3.3 million, Walter Gargano from Danubio for €3.2 million, Matteo Contini from Parma for the same amount as Gargano, and Marcello Zalayeta from Juventus. For €1.4 million, Ivano Trotta moved to Treviso, €500,000 to Tomaso Rometo, €150,000 to Pescara, Cristian Bocchi on loan to Siena, Nicolas Amodio on loan to Treviso, and Ruben Maldonado on loan to Chievo Verona. Napoli did not start the league well. In the first round, they faced Cagliari and lost 2-0, with goals from Alessandro Matri and Pasquale Foggia. However, they showed a strong reaction, winning 5-0 against Udinese, with Ezequiel Lavezzi contributing three goals. They then won 2-0 against Sampdoria in the following round, with Marcello Zalayeta contributing both goals. Their winning streak was temporarily halted by a goalless draw against Empoli, their third consecutive match without a win. Manuel Blasi received a yellow card and was dropped from the squad by coach Eduardo Rega for the following match against Livorno. The club managed to secure a victory with a goal from Roberto Sosa. In the sixth round against Genoa, despite the coach’s efforts to avoid further suspension, Blasi received another yellow card in the 88th minute. In this match, Napoli played behind closed doors as punishment for their fans’ behavior in the previous round against Livorno, where they displayed an offensive banner, set off smoke bombs, and threw bottles, one of which hit an assistant referee. The referee’s decision caused them pain, and Napoli lost 2-1. In the last two minutes, both teams received five yellow cards, three of them for Napoli. The next three matches were against the three biggest clubs of the season: Inter Milan, Roma, and Juventus. They lost 2-1 to Inter, with Julio Cruz scoring both goals. In their second match against Roma, they drew 4-4 at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, with Napoli coming back from behind three times. Despite the club’s mediocre results against the big teams, in their third match against Juventus, the first half ended in a goalless draw, with Alessandro Del Piero scoring the opening goal for Juventus. However, Napoli responded strongly, scoring three goals, including two by Maurizio Domizzi. In eleven rounds, the club only managed two victories, but starting with the Udinese match, they won. With a 3-1 victory, thanks to a dazzling performance from Ezequiel Lavezzi, who scored twice in the Round of 16 of the Coppa Italia, Napoli faced Lazio and were eliminated on aggregate 3-2. In the remaining league matches, the club won seven games, including victories against Milan rivals Inter and AC Milan, drew two, and lost eight, finishing eighth with 50 points and qualifying for the final edition of the Intertoto Cup. Cristian Maggio arrived from Sampdoria for €8 million, Germán Denis from Independiente for €7.5 million, Leandro Rinaudo from Palermo for €5.5 million, and Salvatore Aronica from Reggina for €2.7 million. Maurizio Domizzi left the club for Udinese for €4.5 million, and Emanuele Calaiò joined Siena for €3.5 million. Gjorge Guarić moved to Atalanta for €2.5 million, Mirko Savini joined Palermo on a free transfer, Cristian Bocchi went on loan to Ascoli, and Ruben Maldonado joined Argentinian club Gimnasia. Before the season began, there was the Intertoto Cup, which no longer had a final and a champion but had become a qualifying tournament for the UEFA Cup. Napoli played against Greek side Panionios Athens, winning both legs 2-0 and qualifying for the UEFA Cup qualifiers. In the qualifiers, Napoli faced Albanian side Vlasenja and won by a resounding 8-0 aggregate score, securing their place in the UEFA Cup. The season began with five matches without a loss, with three wins and two draws. All the victories were by a single goal: 2-1 against Fiorentina and Palermo, and 1-0 against Bologna. The first defeat came against Genoa after taking the lead through Ezequiel Lavezzi . The first minute was a good one, but then they fell behind 3-1 before Germán Denis scored Napoli’s second goal. Despite this loss, they returned to winning ways against two of Italy’s biggest clubs, Juventus and Lazio, and won 2-1 against Juventus. However, the Bianconeri were not at their best, sitting in eleventh place, unlike Lazio, who were top of the league but lost 3-1 to Bologna and dropped to fifth. Their poor form continued against Napoli when Napoli won with an own goal from Sebastiano Siviglia. In ten rounds, they won five, drew one, and lost four. But Napoli’s worst form of the season came when they lost three consecutive matches. Even after two draws and one loss, they returned to losing three consecutive matches and were in eleventh place with thirty-five points, having suffered twelve more defeats than wins. After ten consecutive victories, the management intervened and dismissed coach Eduardo Rega after four years in charge. They brought in former Italian national team coach Roberto Donadoni, whose extensive football experience, having played for AC Milan for a decade, could prove beneficial to Napoli. The new coach began his tenure with Napoli with mediocre results, drawing four matches, including a thrilling 2-2 draw against Sampdoria. They secured the equalizer in the 92nd minute with a goal from Germán Denis, thanks to a brilliant performance from Marek Hamšík, who contributed to both goals. However, the negative aspect for Napoli in this match wasn’t the scoreline, but rather the four yellow cards received by their players, resulting in Matteo Contini’s suspension. This was followed by their first defeat, a 2-0 loss to Cagliari. Shockingly, Donadoni secured his first victory for Napoli in this match. The sixth match , against Inter Milan, was a 1-0 win thanks to a goal from Marcelo Zalayeta. However, in the following four rounds, they lost three and drew one. In the final round of the league, Donadoni secured his second victory with a 3-0 win against Chievo Verona. Napoli finished the season in twelfth place with 46 points, having suffered more losses than wins (16 losses and only 12 wins). At the start of the season, the club signed Fabio Quagliarella from Udinese on a five-year contract for €18 million. After his transfer, Napoli has always been my dream, and today I am very happy that the dream has become a reality. In addition, I signed Cameroon from Siena for €8.5 million, Hugo Campagna from Sanporia, and agreed to a four-year contract with him for €7 million. I also signed Andrea Dossena from Liverpool for €3.75 million, and goalkeeper Morgandi Sanctis from Sevilla, who signed a four-year contract for €2 million. He said on the Sevilla program, ” Only I am very happy to be back in Italy and to a team that has the potential to succeed in the coming years.” Young Lorenzo Insigne was promoted from the under-19 team and loaned to Cavese. Several key players left the team, such as Daniele Menini to Zamoria in a co-ownership deal for €3.5 million, Matteo Contin on loan to Real Zaragoza for €500,000, Nicolas Amolio on loan to Penza, and Marcelo Zelita on loan. To Bologna, Nicolas Navarro on loan to Revelfleet, Francesco Montorvino to Salerno, Manuel Blasi on loan to Palermo, and Cristian Bocchi on loan to Cesena. In the first four rounds of the league, the club only achieved one victory. In the fifth round, they lost 3-1 to Inter Milan. After two rounds, they played against Roma and lost 2-1, with Francesco Totti scoring both goals. Dondoni was then sacked, and Walter Mazzarri, the Samurai coach, took over. His results were very good for the club, similar to Napoli’s first 15 matches, where they achieved eight victories, including a 3-2 win against Juventus, and seven draws, remaining undefeated. Their first loss was against Vatniese, 3-1. In the next three rounds, they faced two of Italy’s biggest clubs, Inter Milan and Roma. They drew 0-0 against Inter and 2-2 against Roma. They had a goalless draw against Siena, which led to three consecutive draws. In the ninth round, against Milan and Juventus, they achieved a draw against Milan and a heavy victory over Juventus with three goals to one. In the last eight rounds of the league, they achieved four wins, one draw, and two losses. Napoli finished the league in sixth place with 59 points and qualified for the Europa League qualifiers. After a month of negotiations, Uruguayan international striker Edinson Cavani, who was being monitored by Manchester City, Tottenham, and Inter Milan, arrived on loan from Palermo for five million euros. The club paid 16 million euros to complete the transfer permanently next season. Algerian Hassan Yebda arrived on loan from Benfica with an option to buy. A large number of influential players from previous years are expected to leave this season, such as Fabio Quagliarella to Juventus for 10.5 million euros, Matteo Contini to Real Zaragoza after his loan spell last season for 1.3 million euros, and Germán Denis to… Udinese was sold for €1 million, Leandro Ronaldo was loaned to Juventus for €600,000 with an option to buy, and Marcelo Zelita joined Kayserispor on a free transfer. Goalkeeper Nicolas Navarro’s contract was terminated by mutual consent, and he later moved to Argentinos Juniors. Lorenzo Insigne was loaned to Foggia, Mariano Bogliacino to Chievo Verona on loan with an option to buy, and Cristian Bocchi to Pescara. At the start of the season, Napoli played in the Europa League qualifiers against Swedish side Alfspor, qualifying 3-0 on aggregate. In their first league match, Napoli faced Fiorentina, and the game ended in a 1-1 draw. The match saw nine cards, six for Napoli, with Manuel Blasi being sent off after receiving two yellow cards. Despite scoring Napoli’s only goal, new signing Edinson Cavani also received a yellow card. They then drew 2-2 against Bari and secured their first win of the season in the third round against Samnamoria, 2-1. They lost to Chievo Verona 3-1 in a very strange way, and to demonstrate the inconsistency of their form this season, or at least at the beginning, Napoli achieved an unbeaten run with two wins, including a 2-0 victory against Roma, and a draw against Catania in the Europa League. The club was drawn in a group with Utrecht, Sofia, and Liverpool. In the first three rounds of the Europa League, they drew, including two goalless draws against Utrecht and Liverpool. Miraculously, they drew with Sofia after trailing 3-0, scoring the equalizer in the 93rd minute. After a 2-1 loss to Milan in the league, the club achieved a run of three consecutive wins. In the next six matches, they won four and lost two. The club lost 3-1 to Inter Milan, but what is very strange about this run of wins is that immediately afterward, they achieved a resounding 3-0 victory over Juventus. In 13 rounds, the club achieved nine consecutive wins. Two of these streaks were consecutive: the first was three straight wins, including a 2-0 victory against Roma, and the second was four straight wins, with one loss and one draw in the 16th round of the league. In the Italian Cup, Napoli faced Bologna and won 2-1. In the quarter-finals, they were eliminated after losing to Inter Milan 5-4 on penalties. Napoli qualified for the next round of the Europa League, finishing second in their group with seven points, ten points behind Liverpool. They faced Villarreal but were eliminated after losing the second leg 2-1. In the last six league matches, the club managed only one win, losing three and drawing two. Their last two draws were 1-1 against Inter Milan and 2-2 against Juventus. They finished third in the league with 70 points and qualified for the Champions League for the first time in 20 years, since the 1990-91 season with Maradona. The Swiss player Johann joined the club from Udinese for €18 million. After loaning him out last season, the club permanently bought Edunscapani from Palermo for €12 million and Pellerinzi from Parma. For five years for 9 million euros, he said, “I really wanted to join Napoli. I joined a very strong team with fantastic fans. I’m ready for this new adventure.” In addition, they acquired Goren Pandev on loan with an option to buy from Inter Milan for 1.5 million euros. They also fully acquired Daniele Menini from San Sampdoria for only 500 euros after San Sampdoria’s relegation to Serie B and their failure to make any offer to keep him. They sold him directly to Siena for 650,000 euros after his loan spell last season at Juventus. Fabio Quagliarella moved permanently to Juventus for 10.5 million euros. Blasi was included in the swap deal with Parm for the Brazilian midfielder for 1.5 million euros. Marion Poltino went to Bari for 300,000 euros. Nicolas Amolio joined Pinheiro for free. Pacienza went to Juventus for free. Leandro Ranaudo was loaned to Novara, Salvatore Aronica to Palermo, and Lorenzo Insigne was loaned to [unspecified club]. Pescara, after a long and distinguished five-year career with the club, saw veteran striker Cristian Bucchi retire. In the first round of the league, Napoli achieved a resounding victory over Genoa, 6-1, with a brilliant performance from Pandev, who contributed three of the six goals. In the second round, they secured a 3-1 win against Al-Tuzani . However, their impressive start to the season was on the verge of collapse, as their third match was against last season’s champions, AC Milan. Despite this, they triumphed 3-1 with a hat-trick from Edinson Cavani. Dossena scored first, then Aquilani’s cross made it 1-0. Alberto Aquilani scored the first goal. Dossena also scored. The cross came in second , then Cavani equalized. Gargano equalized again, 1-1. Gargano equalized again. Cavani scored again! Matador! 2-1! Attaccante dentro c’è ancora Hamsik, il pallone arriva poi matador. After two matches, Napoli triumphed 3-0 over their Milan rivals, Inter Milan. Three rounds followed, marked by three inconsistent results: a draw, a win, and a loss. This was followed by a two-match draw streak. In the postponed eleventh round against Juventus, the draw streak continued. After a 3-1 victory over the Bianconeri, the Old Lady came back with two goals, and the match ended in a 3-3 draw. The club finally secured their first win in four rounds with a 4-2 victory against Lecce. Napoli were drawn into a Champions League group with Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich. They won three matches, drew two, and lost only one, finishing second in the group with 11 points, behind Bayern Munich. This led to eight rounds, but before that, Napoli had only managed one win, five draws, and two losses. However, unlike the last 15 years, the club achieved its longest winning streak in the last two decades. They won five consecutive matches, including a 1-0 victory over Inter Milan. Napoli qualified from the round of 16 in the Italian Cup after defeating Girona 2-1, and faced Inter Milan in the quarterfinals, where the club triumphed 2-0. In the round of 16 of the Champions League, Napoli was drawn against Chelsea, with the first leg ending 3-1 in their favor. In the second leg, Napoli triumphed 4-1 after extra time. The fluctuations this season were not unusual. After a series of previous league wins, a string of negative results followed, with two draws and three losses. In all three matches, Napoli conceded three goals against Juventus, Lazio, and Atalanta. In the Coppa Italia semifinal against Siena, Napoli lost the first leg 2-1 but won the second leg 2-0, qualifying for the Italian Cup final for the first time since the 1996-97 season. In the last six league matches, the club won four, drew one, and lost one. They finished fifth in the league with 61 points and qualified for the Europa League. Their last match of the season was the cup final against Juventus. [Stanno scand Lavzi va a terra e calcio di rigore. Calcio di rigore per il] Napoli. Juventus secured their first major title in 21 years, specifically since the 1990-91 season. The club then signed Valm Behrami from Ventën on a five-year contract worth €8 million. On the same day, a car accident involving the player was announced, but it turned out the fault lay with the other party after they made an illegal turn. Fortunately, neither player sustained injuries. After a loan spell with the club last season, Goran Pandey arrived permanently from Inter Milan on a three- year deal for €7.5 million. He agreed to a pay cut just to play for the club. President Aurelio De Laurentiis said, “He’s a good man, and besides being war machines, the players are men too. Pandey is at the peak of his career and will be able to contribute a lot to the team. Napoli fans should be grateful to the player; he was very generous and behaved himself. He agreed to take a lower salary than he was earning at Inter, thus respecting the club’s standards in accordance with Financial Fair Play regulations. I hope he doesn’t stay for three years.” Not only in Naples, but he will defend our colors for a longer period. Another player, Alessandro Gamberini, arrived from Fiorentina for three years for €1.75 million. Ascuella Vezzi left for Paris Saint-Germain for €30 million, and Walter Gargano went on loan to Inter Milan for €1.2 million with an option to buy. Andrea Dostina went on loan to Palermo in January. At the beginning of the season, the club played in the Italian Super Cup against Juventus. The original match ended in a 2-2 draw, but the club lost 4-2 after extra time. The match saw Tarzazuniga and Pantev sent off, and Dostina was suspended by the sports tribunal. The club achieved three victories in the first three rounds of the league before achieving three more victories, interspersed with a draw against Catania. Their first big test this season was against Juventus, which they failed to overcome, losing 2-0. In the Europa League, Napoli was drawn in a group with Swedish club SKJ, PSV Eindhoven, and another club. In the first round against Ukrainian side Dnipro, Napoli won 4-0, but then lost 3-0 to Eintracht Frankfurt. Despite a 73% chance of winning, they lost 3-1 to Dnipro and were in third place with only three points. Their league results weren’t much better; in four rounds, they won two, drew one, and lost one. Milan, who were going through a very difficult period, had only won five matches and lost six. Napoli were expected to win 70% of the time, and indeed, after 43 minutes, they led 2-0. However, the match ended 2-2 after Milan came back with two goals from Stephan El Shaarawy. They won their next two matches, 1-0 against Cagliari and 5-1 against Pescara. In the Europa League, the club climbed to second place after victories against Dnipro and Eintracht Frankfurt, but lost to Eintracht Frankfurt. They qualified for the next round after finishing in second place in their group. Second with nine points after two previous league wins, Napoli lost 2-1 to Inter Milan. In the following round, the club lost 3-2 to Bologna in the last two minutes, despite Bologna having zero odds of winning that match according to Transfermarkt. Napoli were eliminated from the Round of 16 of the Italian Cup by Younes, losing 2-1. In the next round , Napoli faced Roma and won 4-1. The club won three of their four matches, drew one, and drew all four, including a goalless draw against Juventus in the second round of the Europa League. Napoli were eliminated by Viktoria Plzen 5-0 on aggregate. Before drawing with Milan, they achieved a three-match winning streak, which included a 3-1 victory against Inter. They lost their last match against Roma 2-1. They finished second in the league with 78 points, their best position since 1990, and qualified for the Champions League, finishing just behind champions Juventus. The day after the final round of league matches, coach Walter Mazzarri was sacked, and the Europa League winner with Chelsea, Spaniard Rafael Benítez, took over on a two-year contract. The club also signed a trio of players: Gonzalo Higuaín on a five-year deal worth €39 million, Raúl Albiol, who signed a four-year contract worth €12 million, and Joselu, who joined from Real Madrid for €9.5 million. And Jordi Alonso joined from Verona for €9.5 million, Dries Mertens from PSV Eindhoven for five years for €9.5 million, and goalkeeper Pepeina on loan from Liverpool. Edinson Cavani left for Paris Saint-Germain for €64.5 million, and goalkeeper Morgan Sanctis joined Roma for €500,000. Andrea Dossena went to Sunderland on a free transfer, Walter Gargano on loan to Parma, Leandro Ronnaudo to Livorno on a free transfer, Hugo Campagnaro to Inter Milan on a free transfer, and Alessandro Perini on loan to Genoa. Captain Paolo Cannavaro went on loan to SVV SV in the winter. In the first seven rounds of the league, the club won six of them, drawing against newly promoted SVV SV and winning 2-1 against AC Milan. They suffered their first defeat of the season against Roma, with Mirel Pjanic scoring both goals. Napoli were drawn into one of the toughest Champions League groups this season, alongside Olympique Marseille, Arsenal, and Borussia Dortmund. Napoli’s first match was against Borussia Dortmund, and despite fans’ expectations of a Dortmund victory, Napoli won 2-1. They then deservedly lost 2-0 to Arsenal, managing only one shot on target against Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny. In the third round, they secured a 2-1 win against Marseille, placing them third with six points, tied with Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal. Napoli won three consecutive matches, scoring two goals in each, but this streak was halted in the following two rounds with a 3-0 loss to Juventus and a 1-0 defeat to Varma. In the final three Champions League group stage matches, Napoli won two and lost one, finishing third in the group with six points, having drawn with Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal. Despite this, they were relegated to the Europa League. In the 15th round, they drew 3-3 with Udinese after initially taking a 2-0 lead. Udinese managed to equalize with two goals, but Napoli salvaged a point with a goal of their own. In the 81st minute, the match ended in a draw after Jonathan Basta scored Udinese’s third goal. Despite the draw against Udinese, the club achieved a 4-2 victory over Inter Milan. Although Inter dominated possession, Napoli’s attempts and shots on goal were superior to Inter’s. After five more rounds and eight rounds, Napoli suffered a defeat against second-placed Atalanta, losing 3-0. Atalanta’s win percentage, according to Transfermarkt, was only 3%. Nevertheless, Napoli dominated and achieved a resounding 3-1 victory against AC Milan. Let’s go back to January when Napoli defeated Atalanta 3-1 in the quarter-finals of the Italian Cup. In the quarter-finals, they qualified against Lazio with a 1-0 victory. The semi-final was against the capital club, Roma. After trailing by two goals, Napoli came back with an own goal from former Napoli player Morcandi Sanctis and a goal from Dries Mertens, who entered the match only four minutes beforehand, but they lost. With Gervinho’s goal, but what happened in San Paolo was very close, and that’s what happened at the crossroads and at the vantaggio of Napoli with CONA De Santis on the road and on the other side of the Higuain testament. Napoli then defeated Sampdoria 2-0 in Serie A and drew 1-1 with Sampdoria in the second round of the Europa League. Napoli faced Swansea City, winning the second leg 3-1 and advancing to the Round of 16. After two more league matches, Napoli drew 1-1 with Livorno and then defeated Roma 1-0 in the Europa League Round of 16. Napoli then faced Porto, losing the first leg 1-0 and drawing 2-2 in the second leg, but were eliminated on aggregate 3-2. Napoli won two and lost one of their three league matches before facing league leaders Juventus, who had only lost once all season. Napoli defeated Juventus 2-0, marking Juventus’ second and final defeat. In the following four league matches, Napoli won only one and drew the other two. In two matches, including a goalless draw against Inter and a loss to Parma, Napoli faced Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia final, a team that hadn’t won a title in the last 13 years. Is this the club’s return from Florence, or is it Napoli’s second Coppa Italia title in three years ? Controgiocata micidiale è three goals to one against Fiorentina and achieved their second cup title in three seasons, which is considered their best performance since their golden era with Maradona. After a mediocre performance in the previous rounds of the league, only the last three rounds remained, all against mid-table teams like Calcio, Sampdoria, and Hesse Verona. Napoli won all three, including two matches that ended with Napoli winning 5-0 against Sampdoria and Helseron. Napoli finished the season in third place with 78 points, behind Roma and champions Juventus, who finished with 102 points. This season, the club outperformed both Milan clubs, as well as Lazio, in the league standings and qualified for the Champions League qualifiers. Senegalese center-back Khalid Coulibaly arrived from Belgian club Genk on a five-year contract for €75,000. He said, “I am very happy to be playing for Napoli, an important club with a great project. I am ready for this adventure and I can’t wait to start working with my new teammates and experience the San Paolo.” Jonathan de Guzman arrived from Villarreal for €6 million. He said, “I am happy to be coming to Napoli and I can’t wait for the start of the season.” In addition, Spanish center-back David Lopez joined from Espanyol on a five-year contract for €5 million. And 300,000 euros. Van Behrami left for Hamburg for 6 million euros, and the duo of Björn Meijer and Goram Pandev went to Galatasaray for 1.35 million euros for Meijer and free for Pandev. Aldromberini went to Chievo Verona for 300,000 euros. After his loan last season, Paolo Cannavaro moved permanently to São Paulo for only 1,000 euros for an unconfirmed reason, but it is said that Benítez did not want him, and this was the reason for the previous loan in the first place. In the Champions League qualifiers, Napoli faced the Spanish club Athletic Bilbao, and the two clubs drew at the San Paolo, but at the San Mamés, the club lost 3-1 and did not qualify for the Champions League, but went to the Europa League. Napoli started the league positively when they won 2-1 against Genoa, or so it was expected, before they lost in the next two rounds by one goal against Chievo Verona and Udinese, and even with a draw against Palermo, you might think that result Napoli’s performance in the previous two rounds was positive, but it was very negative. They took a two-goal lead in the first 11 minutes, but Palermo responded with two goals of their own. Napoli then scored a third goal through Callejon, but Andrea Belotti equalized for Palermo. This match alone proves that no matter how strong the attack, the defense can ruin everything. However, Napoli finally returned to winning ways with a series of victories until the seventh round against Inter Milan. The action didn’t begin until the 9th minute when Joselu scored Napoli’s first goal, but Inter equalized through Colombian Frederin. Joselu returned in the 90th minute to put Napoli ahead again, but just a minute later, Brazilian Hernanes scored the equalizer for Inter. In this match, assistant coach Fabio Pecchia and former Napoli coach, now Inter coach, Ultra Mazzarri, were suspended. In the Europa League, Napoli were drawn into a group with teams of a much lower caliber, such as Slovan Bratislava of Russia and Sparta Prague of the Czech Republic. And Young Bosse of Switzerland won their first two matches against Sparta Prague and Slovan Bratislava by two goals each, but drew by two goals against Universitatea in the eighth round. Their team, Frunze, thrashed them 6-2 with a brilliant performance from Marek Hamsik and Conceiguine Higuain. However, Roma, despite their impressive performance against Hesse Verona, drew 1-1 with Atalanta, with Higuain scoring in the sixth minute . Just six minutes later, Higuain missed a penalty that would have secured the victory. [Applause] They drew 2-2 with second-placed Roma, marking Roma’s second loss of the season. In the third round, Napoli faced Fiorentina and won 1-0 with a goal from Higuain, which was good, but the bad news was the injury to Insigne and the suspension of Jorginho after receiving his fourth yellow card of the season. The club drew 3-3 with Cagliari, a goalless draw for the home side. This wasn’t the first time Napoli had taken a two-goal lead, only for Cagliari to equalize, and Napoli had scored the winning goal. Cali equalized again, and the match ended in a disastrous draw for Napoli in the 13th round. The club played against Samptoria, and Napoli was trailing by a goal until the last minute when Duvan Zapata scored the equalizer. Kalidou Koulibaly was suspended after receiving two yellow cards. Meanwhile, in the Champions League, Barcelona announced that the second leg match scheduled for March 8th would be played behind closed doors at the Camp Nou. However, five days later, on March 15th, UEFA announced the cancellation of all matches scheduled for that week in European competitions and their postponement to a later, unspecified date. As long as there’s a chance, I’ll keep working on resuming the championships. I realize it’s too early to think about a date, but we must think positively, also for the health of Italians. We hope this situation ends as soon as possible. If we give July and August, it might be a suitable time.” At the same time, he didn’t rule out the idea of playoffs to determine the league standings if there isn’t enough time. He said, ” I only suggested it as a lifeline, but we will work on it in the future because it remains an interesting idea for me, and I hope the relevant authorities will share it someday, which increases the importance of the Italian league.” Italian Football Federation President Gabriele Gravina told TMW radio, ” The top priority is completing the season. The idea is to start in May or early June and finish in July. There’s even talk of September. I’ve made it clear that I don’t want to risk sacrificing another season to save this one. I think canceling the season would be very complicated and a huge injustice, which would lead to a legal emergency.” In the event of a pandemic, only the Scudetto would be required, and I believe Juventus themselves expressed their dissatisfaction with this solution. The solution Gravina intended was to award the title to Juventus and end the season, but Juventus refused. On April 21st, the Italian Football League announced that all ten clubs had agreed to complete the season instead of canceling or ending it. They stated that the goal was to complete the 2019-2020 football season if the government allowed it, and that play would resume according to medical protocols to protect the players and all professionals. Two days later, it was announced that the end of the season would be postponed to August 2nd. The president of the federation, Gravina, said that the Italian Football Federation would make a decision in the coming hours regarding postponing the end of the season. The 2019/2020 season was extended to August 2nd. The football world is working tirelessly and responsibly to find practical and sustainable solutions to the COVID-19 crisis, including the necessary solutions to ensure the continuation of the 2020/21 season. The federation hopes to resume training starting May 4th, the date the government plans to begin easing lockdown measures. Teams could have returned to training starting May 3rd, with individual training for players beginning May 4th. Italian league clubs have set June 13th as the date for resumption. A statement issued by the Italian league regarding the resumption of sporting activity confirmed that the 13th date was set for the resumption of the championship, in accordance with government decisions and medical protocols to protect players and all professionals. Sports Minister Vincenzo Spatafora said, “I received a message a few minutes ago from the president of the Italian Football Federation, Gabriele Gravina, in which he announced that the federation has accepted all the observations of the scientific and technical committee and has revised the protocol to allow for the resumption of training starting May 3rd.” Without any difficulties, Sports Minister Spadafora officially announced that the Italian Cup semi-finals would be held on June 3rd and the final on the 17th, and that the league would return on June 14th. The Italian league received the green light to resume matches on June 14th, as the previously agreed date of June 3rd was impossible after the national lockdown was extended to June 14th. Napoli effectively returned on June 3rd after a 96-day absence when they played the second leg of the Italian Cup semi-final against Inter Milan at the San Paolo Stadium. After the match ended in a draw, Napoli qualified for the Italian Cup final for the first time since 2013. The final was against Juventus, and after a goalless draw, it went to penalties. Dybalady scored. [The following appears to be a separate, unrelated comment: “Menet sbaglia Paolo Dybala. La finta di Insigne. 1-0 per il Alto, sbaglia anche Danilo. Buffon intuisce, ma non traversa e gol.”] Central, powerful, segna spiazzato. Napoli won the Coppa Italia in 2012, their first league title in seven years, and this wasn’t the end of it. Their cup victory secured direct qualification for the Europa League, regardless of whether their league position qualified them for the competition . On the same day, UEFA announced the resumption of all European competitions starting in August. They also announced that the second leg of the Round of 16 matches would be played on August 7th and 8th, and that all quarter-final matches would be played in Portugal from the following season. There was also the possibility of playing the second leg of the Round of 16 matches either in Portugal or at the home ground of the team originally scheduled to host the match. On July 7th, UEFA announced that the second leg of the Round of 16 matches would be played at the home ground of the host team, not Portugal, as in the subsequent rounds. After a 103-day hiatus, Serie A resumed, with Deportivo La Coruña hosting the match, which ended in a draw. Napoli returned to action 12 days later, after a 115-day break, when they faced Hellas Verón away from home. They won 2-0 after seven good rounds that included four wins, one of which was against Roma 2-1, and a draw , one of which was against Milan 2-2. They only lost once, against Atalanta 2-0. Napoli suffered a surprising 2-1 defeat against 14th-placed Farma, after the score was tied 1-1 before Korski scored the winning goal in the 88th minute. The club won one of their last three league matches and lost only once, against Inter Milan 2-0. Napoli finished the league in seventh place with 62 points, their worst position since the 2008-2009 season when they finished twelfth. That was their second season after promotion from Serie B, and that position wouldn’t have qualified them for any European competition. However, Napoli qualified for the Europa League thanks to winning the Coppa Italia, as mentioned earlier. They played their Champions League Round of 16 match against Barcelona after the end of the league season, specifically on the 8th. From August, unfortunately, the club was eliminated from the Champions League after losing 3-1 at the Camp Nou, ending one of the worst seasons in football history. Almost a year after it began, Dries Mertens renewed his contract with the club for two more years, Glisquie until the summer of 2024, and Giovanni Dolorenzo and Mario Rui until 2025. Noble acquired Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from French club Lille for €70 million plus €10 million in add-ons on a five-year contract. He said, “I can’t wait to put on this iconic shirt. Thank you for your warm welcome.” Napoli sold Bakayoko on loan from Chelsea for €75 million, Arnau to Everton for €25 million , and Arkadiusz Schlick on loan to Olympique Marseille for €3 million. Jose Callejon left after seven years at the club, and Mertens stated, “We will miss him greatly. He gave me so much.” His decisive passes over the years are a testament to his unique style of running towards the far post, which unsettles opposing defenses. Lorenzo Insigne bid him farewell in an Instagram post, saying, “My dear Khasif, unfortunately, we part ways today. It has been an honor to be by your side all these years. I was fortunate to know such a wonderful man, an amazing player, a perfect professional. I will miss seeing you in the locker room, our laughter, and your brilliant runs towards goal. I wish you and your wonderful family all the best. Good luck, my friend.” The league began with a 2-0 victory over Parma, followed by a resounding 3-0 win. Napoli was scheduled to play Juventus in the third round, but the club did not travel to Turin due to Zielinski and Elmas contracting the virus. Napoli stated that they were prevented from traveling by the local health authority, who instructed the club to self-isolate as a precautionary measure. However, Juventus and the Italian League indicated that this decision was made solely for safety reasons and that two cases do not warrant withdrawing from the match. UEFA notes that if a club has 13 players, including one goalkeeper, they can still play. At the very least, the match must be played. The federation will then make a decision: either force majeure prevents Napoli from traveling to Turin, or the club is considered to have lost 3-0, in addition to a one-point deduction as punishment. However, Napoli is expected to appeal. In the fourth round, Napoli defeated Atalanta 4-1. In this match, new signing Victor Osmin scored his first goal with a beautiful long-range strike. The following two rounds ended with a win and a loss against Benevento and Santo Domingo. In the Europa League, the club was drawn into a group with teams far below their level, such as Croatian side Rijeka and Dutch club AZ Alkmaar. The strongest of these was Real Sociedad. In the first round, Napoli lost to AZ Alkmaar 1-0, but in the following two rounds, the club won 1-0 against Rijeka and 2-1 against Rijeka. Napoli continued their winning streak in the league when they defeated Bologna with a header from Osmin. The following two rounds were against league leaders Milan and Roma, and the club dominated the first of these matches with a 3-0 victory. Goals for a goal against Milan, but before facing Roma, specifically on November 5th, and in memory of the legend of Napoli and the Argentine national team, Diego Armando Maradona, and a few hours after his death, President De Laurentiis suggested discussing the idea of renaming Napoli’s stadium from San Paolo to Diego Arando Maradona, telling the French newspaper RMC Sport, “We can consider renaming our stadium San Paolo Diego Maradona.” The mayor of Naples supported this move, tweeting, “We will rename San Paolo in honor of Diego Armando Maradona.” De Laurentiis told Sky Sport Italia, ” I have been in talks with local authorities for 17 years and have always asked to buy the stadium and rename it Diego Arando Maradona. If we agree, according to tradition, to name it San Paolo and Maradona together, so be it. Not much will change, but it is only natural that Diego should have this name. Even if we build a completely new stadium, I will name it after him.” The president indicated that he had tried to rename the stadium. The stadium was renamed 17 years ago, in 2004, his first year as club president. On December 4th, the Naples City Council officially announced the renaming of the San Paolo Stadium to Diego Armando Maradona. In the remaining Europa League matches, Napoli defeated Rijeka 2-0 the day after Maradona’s death, and drew against AZ Alkmaar and Real Sociedad, topping their group with one point after a single defeat against AZ Alkmaar. The club also triumphed 4-0 against Roma and 4-0 against Crotone. Starting with the Roma match, the club wore their fourth kit for the first time that season. The kit symbolized Argentina and Maradona specifically, and its design was intended for Maradona himself. While the design was conceived before his death, it was officially unveiled four days later, on November 9th. The club defeated Sampdoria 2-1 on December 3rd, marking the first match played at the San Paolo Stadium after its renaming. To Diego Arando Mato, but unlike the previous positive results, the club lost two consecutive matches, one against Inter Milan and two against Atiku. Let’s go back a little, specifically to when Napoli did not show up for their match against Juventus. After the club filed two appeals against the previous ruling, which had declared Napoli the loser by three goals and deducted a point, both appeals were rejected. However, the club won its third appeal, thus ensuring Napoli’s right to a replay and the removal of the point deduction. After a draw and a win against Torino and Calcio, the club surprisingly lost to eighth-placed Spezia Calcio by two goals to one. But they showed a strong reaction with victories in the following two matches: two against Medinci and a resounding 3-0 win against Fiorentina. Napoli played in the Italian Super Cup against Juventus, and unfortunately, the club lost 2-0, losing the title and suffering their second consecutive defeat against Hellas Verona. Verona secured a 3-1 victory, propelling the club to the quarterfinals of the Coppa Italia after a hard-fought 3-2 win against Empoli. In the quarterfinals, they faced Spezia Calcio and triumphed 4-2, advancing to the semifinals. In Serie A, they defeated Parma 2-0 but lost to Genoa 2-1, with both goals scored by their former player, Goran Pandev. In the Coppa Italia semifinal against Atalanta, the first leg ended in a goalless draw, but unfortunately, they lost the second leg 3-1, eliminating them from the competition. Following this, the club played a league match against Juventus and a familiar fixture against Atalanta. The first leg against Juventus ended with a 1-0 victory for Napoli, courtesy of an Insigne goal, but they suffered another defeat against Atalanta, this time 4-2. In the Europa League Round of 32, Napoli faced Granada, but their poor form continued, losing the first leg 2-0, and even after winning the second leg… Napoli won 2-1, but the aggregate score was 3-2. The only remaining objective for the club was the league title. After a 2-0 victory against Benevento, Napoli drew 3-3 in a heated match against Sassuolo. Two of the six goals were scored in the 90th minute and later. The postponed match against Juventus, initially scheduled for March 7th, was later postponed to April 7th. The club then achieved a remarkable run of four wins, including two against Milan and Roma. However, the postponed match against Juventus was delayed, and in Turin, Napoli lost 2-1. The club then achieved another unbeaten run, going from 30 matches to the end of the season, winning all six remaining matches. These included impressive victories such as 5-2 against Lazio, 4-1 against Spezia, and 5-1 against Udinese. They also drew three matches and finished the league in fifth place, two places higher than the previous season, with 77 points. They qualified for the Europa League before the start of the new season. The management dismissed Gennaro Gatto due to his failure to secure a Champions League qualifying spot after a draw in the final round against Hertha Bruna. The president bid him farewell, saying, “My dear Rino, I am happy to have spent almost two seasons with you. Thank you for all your work, and I wish you success wherever you go.” He was replaced by Luciano Balletti, the former Inter Milan coach, whose mission at the club was clear: to finish in the top four after Napoli’s absence from that position for the previous two seasons. Napoli bought Matteo Politano outright from Inter Milan after a season-long loan for €22 million, and Franck Inoues on loan with an option to buy from Fulham for €1.3 million, with a further €15 million if they wanted to make the transfer permanent. The Greek Konstantinos Maroulas left for Olympiacos for €1.5 million, and Seyd Hysaj joined Lazio on a free transfer. Bakayoko returned from his loan to Chelsea. This season witnessed the return of the fans. For the first time in a year, the club won its first two league matches against Venezia and Genoa. In the third round, before Juventus, after trailing by a goal for 57 minutes, they equalized through a goal by Politano. However, the winning goal came from Koulibaly in the 85th minute. Napoli continued its winning streak for another five rounds, and with this, they won eight rounds in a row. This was the strongest start to the league since the 2017-18 season. With Sarri, the same strength with eight consecutive wins. The club topped the league with 24 points, ahead of Milan with 22 points. Napoli was drawn with Legia Warsaw of Poland, Leicester City, and Spartak Moscow. In the first round against Leicester, the club trailed by two goals after 64 minutes, but they came back with two goals from Osimhen in the 69th minute, just five minutes after Leicester’s goal. [Applause] Can he finish off? He can wonderful finish from around the edge of the box; here scores brilliantly. [Applause] In the second round, Spartak Moscow faced Napoli. After scoring a goal in the first minute, Spartak Moscow came back with three goals, ending the match 3-2 after Osimhen scored in the 94th minute. They won their first match in the third round against Leipzig with three goals. The club then drew 0-0 with Roma, their first draw in the league. After a draw against Veron in the third round, they faced Inter Milan. Napoli took the lead with a goal from Glinski, but Inter came back with three goals, ending the match with a 3-2 loss for the club, their first in the league. However, they bounced back with a 4-0 victory over Atalanta. After leading 2-0 in the following round against Sassuolo, Sassuolo scored two goals, including one in the 9th minute, just before the end. To make matters worse, they lost their next match against Atalanta. Atalanta took the lead with one goal, but Napoli came back with two goals to make it 1-1. The score was 2-1, but unfortunately, Atalanta scored two more goals to make it 3-1 in their favor, resulting in their second league defeat. At the same time, they lost their lead to Remina, who now have 38 points, while Napoli moved into third place with 36 points. The club completed their Europa League group stage campaign with a 4-1 victory over Leerstavia. But they also lost the return leg against Spartak Moscow 2-1 and won again against Leicester City 3-2 after taking a 2-0 lead and Leicester equalizing 2-2, but they won with a third goal. They finished second in the group with the same number of points as the group leader, Moscow. Napoli lost to the eleventh-placed team, Spartak, 1-0, but to make matters even stranger, they won against Milan 1-0. However, to make matters worse and more bizarre, they lost to the seventh-placed team, Spezia, with an own goal by Juanjes. After remaining undefeated in the first eight rounds of the league, they lost four of their seven matches, with a loss rate of 57.1%. The club drew against Juventus before winning against Sampdoria with a goal by Andrea Petacna. In the round of 16 of the Italian Cup, Napoli faced Fiorentina. After the match ended in a 2-2 draw after regular time, they went to extra time, where Fiorentina scored three goals, and the club lost 5-1. After a 2-0 victory and elimination from the cup, the club continued its winning streak in the league against Bologna, Salerno, and Venezia, and drew in the following two rounds against Inter Milan and Cagliari. This signaled Napoli’s return to its early-season form. In the Europa League Round of 32, the club was drawn against Barcelona. The first leg ended in a 1-1 draw, but Barcelona won the second leg 4-2, eliminating them from the competition. After a 2-1 victory against Lazio in the following round, they faced Milan and lost 1-0 to Olivier Giroud. Conversely, they achieved a three- match winning streak against Hellas Verona, Udinese, and Atalanta. In the second round against Fiorentina, the first 58 minutes ended in a 1-1 draw before Fiorentina scored twice, resulting in a 3-2 defeat for Napoli. This continued a series of negative results, as they drew 1-1 against Roma. Stephan El Shaarawy ‘s 91st goal for Roma. The club lost to Napoli after Napoli scored two goals. Napoli came back in the last ten minutes and turned the score around to 3-2. Thus, the club lost to Napoli both home and away. Napoli won the last four rounds of the league and finished the season in third place with 79 points, returning to the top four and to the Champions League after a two-season absence. Victor was the club’s top scorer this season in only his second season with Napoli. The club acquired the rising talent and left winger, Giorgian … He participated in the club’s history and is Napoli’s all-time leading scorer. Captain Lorenzo Insigne left for Toronto FC on a free transfer, departing in the summer despite the agreement having been finalized six months prior, specifically on January 8th. Goalkeeper David Ospina also left for Al-Nassr FC in Saudi Arabia on a free transfer, while Senegalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly departed for Chelsea for €42 million. The club bid him farewell on its official website, saying, “We spent eight wonderful seasons together, experiencing things that will remain etched in our memories forever. You were just a young man when you came to Napoli, but you left the club as a man, aware that you had made history with Napoli.” In addition, the sixth most capped player in the club’s history and all-time top scorer, Dries Mertens, left for Grabsa on a free transfer, Fabian Reus joined Paris Saint-Germain for €22.5 million, and Arkadiusz Milik moved to Olympique Marseille for €9.7 million. Thus, the six most important players in the club’s history departed. Ten years, starting with Insigne and Mertens in 2012 and ending with Reus and Aspina in 2018. In the first round of the league before Napoli, they faced Verona and fell behind by a goal, but scored two, including one goal for the club. After Hellas Verona equalized with a goal from Thomas Henry, the club turned the score around to win 5-1. They then won for the second time in a row against Monza with a beautiful 4-0 victory. They drew 0-0 for the first time against Fiorentina and also for the second time in a row, 1-1 against Lecce. It would have been better if Lorenzo Colombo, who scored the first goal, had missed a penalty for Lecce. The match ended in a 2-1 victory for Lecce. In his first month in Italy, Cavradona, nicknamed “The Napoli Fans” (a clear reference to the club’s Diego Maradona, highlighting the similarity in their playing styles and their affection for the newcomer), won the Serie A Player of the Month award for August, becoming the second player to receive the honor. He achieved it immediately after arriving in Italy following Frankbury in September 2019. After a goal against Spezia, a match against the former champions, and after 55 goalless minutes, Politano scored the first goal for Napoli before Milan equalized 14 minutes later. The club regained the lead with a goal from Giovanni Simeone and won against Torino 3-1. After that, it was announced that the new signing was the Korean player Kim Jae-hyung. Napoli was placed in a group with Rangers, Ajax, and the previous edition’s runner-up, Liverpool. The first round was against Liverpool, and they crushed the London club 4-1. The score was close to 5-1 had Osimhen not missed a penalty. They won for the second time in a row against Rangers with a heavy 3-0 victory, and it would have been 4-0 had Ginski not missed a penalty. They achieved a run of three consecutive wins after crushing the Dutch club Ajax. With six goals to one, they topped the group after three rounds with a perfect record of nine points, ahead of Liverpool with six. The club continued their winning streak in the league after defeating Cremonese 4-1 and a hard-fought 3-2 victory before facing Roma at the Stadio Olimpico, a match decided by a brilliant goal from Osimhen. [Music] They won the following round 4-0 against Sassuolo, thanks to Osimhen’s hat-trick. [Applause] [Applause] T away firstck [Applause] Balletti was announced as Coach of the Month. Napoli won their next two Champions League matches against Ajax and Wolverhampton Wanderers, but lost 2-0 to Liverpool in the final minutes, ending their 17-match unbeaten run. The group stage ended with the club topping their group with 15 points, ahead of runners-up Liverpool with the same number of points, after three easy matches against Atalanta and Udinese. They opened 2023 with a match Against Inter Milan at the José María, and unfortunately, they opened the year with a loss to Edin Džeko’s goal, their first league defeat after 15 matches without a loss. However, they maintained their lead, surpassing Milan by 41 points. But after a victory over Sampdoria by two goals, they crushed Juventus 5-1. God, a cross, a follow-up, impossible, oh Lord! Look at Osimhen, it reached Kvarra, it reached Kvarra, Kvarra, Dula, Adfala, Di María tried, the ball was set up, Di María, God , but we see the ball now from Kvarra’s side, the ball is passing, God, it returned to Kvarra, Kvarra, a cross, God, you think for a moment, Napoli after the four, look at the diamond, look at the diamond, look at Napoli, the sixteenth round of the Italian Cup, Napoli’s face, Karim Muniesi, and after the end of regular time with a 2-2 draw, but after neither club scored, the match went to penalties, and Napoli were eliminated after losing 5-4 after Lobotka missed the penalty kick. With two championships remaining in the season, Napoli defeated Spartana 2-0, securing the top spot in the league at the halfway point with 50 points, a significant 12 points ahead of both Juventus and Milan, who were tied on points. Roma, enjoying a good run of form, hadn’t lost in their last six matches. However, despite these impressive pre-match statistics, the capital club suffered a stunning defeat, conceding two goals to Osimhen and Simeone. (The following appears to be a separate, unrelated comment: “Osimhen, oh Lord, you will come, tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me, the attempt hasn’t ended, God, impossible.”) Following this, Osimhen won the Player of the Month award and the Goal of the Month award for his strike against Roma. Spalletti was named Coach of the Month, the most wins for a coach with four. They then won four more matches, each with a team scoring at least two goals, before losing 1-0 to Lato. They then triumphed again against Atalanta with two goals, one of which was a fantastic strike. (The following appears to be a separate, unrelated comment: “It reached the point of expiation, impossible, impossible, the sin that opens all the doors of the South.”) The sin that invades every heart in Italy, the sin that, but before that, the Sikh blasphemy was announced as the Player of the Month in the sixteenth round of the Champions League. Napoli drew with Eintracht Frankfurt and the club won 5-0 in the first leg , qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time in its history. After Napoli won 4-0 against Torino, it was announced that for the second month in a row, Quarzi won the Player of the Month award, the first player to do so in the history of the award, and he won the Goal of the Month award for his goal against Atalanta. However, they lost in the next round against Milan by the same score of 4-0 at the Diego Armando Marrón Stadium. But the results were average after that, as they won against Lecce 2-1 and drew 0-0 against Hellas Verona. In the Champions League quarter-finals, Napoli faced Milan and the club lost the first leg 1-0, and to make matters worse, Anguissa scored in the second leg. The match began with Olivago missing an Algerian penalty after a save. He was lazy before scoring a goal 21 minutes later, and missed another penalty this time from Napoli’s side saw Mikel save a shot from Vargas Llosa, but they equalized in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, the draw wasn’t enough to qualify Napoli for the semi-finals, and they were eliminated from the tournament with a 2-1 aggregate score. However, Napoli exited with honor after achieving their best Champions League title in history. Their only remaining chance was the league title. In the 31st round, the club faced Juventus at the Allianz Stadium and Napoli narrowly won with a beautiful goal from Giacomo Rasori in the 3rd minute. (A cross followed up – impossible! A league goal! A league goal! ) With this, the club could clinch the title if they played in the following round against Salerno. The Salerno match started late, with Empoli’s first goal not coming until the 62nd minute from Oliveira. The club was very close to the title until six minutes remained when Polide scored the equalizer for Salerno, postponing the title decision. After that, the 3rd round of the league began for the southern club away from home. The visit of the Imams, they are praying, they are praying, an impossible shot, Yasi, God, oh Lovrevic, they are striking here from afar, Akvarra, oh Lord, oh God, the decisive one [music] [applause] With this draw against Udinese with a goal by Osimhen, celebrations erupted throughout the south. Napoli were champions of the Italian league for the first time since 1990, 33 years ago, since Cello Vera, Emmausandroica, Andrea Carnevale, Careca Zola, and last but not least, Diego Armando Maradona. The southern club restored the glory of the golden era and brought the league title back to their stadium after a long drought. The celebrations continued until the following round against Fiorentina, where they won with a goal by Osimhen. Osimhen had a chance to score a brace, but he missed the penalty. They then reached a 3-1 victory against Inter in the 36th round. Before concluding the last two rounds of the league with a draw and a win, they finished as champions with 90 points, 16 points ahead of runners-up Lazio. Napoli’s 33-year title drought placed them second only to Roma, whose 41-year wait for a Serie A title is one of the longest in history, not just in Italy. The southern club’s performance this season was remarkable, with Napoli leading the league in scoring with 26 goals, providing the most assists with 13, and winning the Serie A Player of the Year award. Luciano Baletti was named Serie A’s best defender, and the club also boasted the best attack and defense, conceding only 28 goals and scoring 77 – six more than their closest rivals, Inter Milan. This achievement also broke a somewhat negative record, surpassing Sven-Göran Eriksson’s previous record of 424 matches and 23 years between his first Serie A title win and his first match as a manager. Luciano Spalletti broke this record with 524 matches and 30 years. And also, Maurizio Sarri broke the record for the oldest coach to win the Italian league title. Sarri, when he won the title with Juventus in 2020, was 61 years and 23 days old, and Spalletti broke it at 64 years and 58 days. Osei scored 26 goals this season, surpassing Samuel Eto’o as the highest-scoring African player in a single season. The Cameroonian scored 21 goals in the 2010-2011 season. Nigerian Osimhen also surpassed the all-time African goalscorer in the tournament’s history, Liberian Georgiev, with 50 goals. In addition, he is Nigeria’s all-time top scorer in the Italian league. Furthermore, Kfarsakhliya won the Goal of the Season award for his goal against Atalanta. [The following appears to be unrelated and possibly nonsensical : “It reached a thousand impossible impossible sins that open all the doors of the South, sins that invade every heart in Italy, sins that…”] And from here ends the story of Nabawi, an exciting story that included Its events threatened the club’s very existence, from its beginnings in 2004 to winning three Italian Cups, one Italian Super Cup, and two league titles. You might think the hero of this story is a player, but from another perspective, the only hero of the Barton Bay story is its president, Aurelio Durantes, who witnessed everything. Glory be to You, O God, and praise be to You. I bear witness that there is no god but You. I seek Your forgiveness and repent to You.
