On the 24th, Softbank manager Hiroki Kokubo and Hanshin Tigers manager Kyuji Fujikawa attended a managers’ meeting at PayPay Dome the day before the Japan Series. Both managers stated that Yuji Arihara will be the starter for Softbank and Murakami for Hanshin Tigers.
Manager Kokubo vowed, “We will fight with all our heart and soul so that we can put up a good fight against Hanshin Tigers, who have been running away with Central League all year. This year, our schedule overlaps with that of the overseas team. The World Series is in the afternoon and the Japan Series in the evening. We want to fight in a way that will give baseball fans an exciting week.”
一方、藤川監督も「交流戦でパ・リーグにこてんぱんにやられまして、その中で何とかチームのバランスを壊すことなく戦い抜けたことが、阪神タイガースが最後勝ち抜けた理由だと思います。今シーズン限りで退任されたヤクルトの高津監督、それからベイスターズの三浦監督、お二人から『ぜひセ・リーグを代表して勝ってきてくれ』という言葉をいただきました。他球団のファン、選手、スタッフ、退任された２人の監督さんを含めて、その人たちの気持ちを明日からの戦いでパ・リーグ代表のホークスさんにぶつけたいと思います」と闘志を込めた。
