Outfielder Hisayoshi Chono (40) of the Tokyo Giants has officially announced his retirement following the 2025 season.
Chono joined the Giants in 2009 as their first-round draft pick. He was named Rookie of the Year in 2010, won the batting title in 2011, and led the league in hits in 2012. Over his career, he recorded 1,512 hits and 163 home runs.
Defensively, he earned the Golden Glove Award from 2011 to 2013 and was selected to the Best Nine for three consecutive years during the same period.
Known for his integrity and warm personality, Chono was deeply trusted by his teammates and loved by fans, the media, and everyone around him.
