Nippon-Ham Fighters manager Tsuyoshi Shinjo updated his Instagram on the 5th and announced starting line-up for the game. Nippon-Ham traveled from Tokyo to Osaka for the game against Orix (Kyocera Dome). However, due to heavy rain caused by the typhoon, the Shinkansen was temporarily suspended, significantly delaying the team’s arrival in Osaka.
Coach Shinjo wrote, “The Shinkansen may be stopped and we may not be able to practice again, so please do your stretching on the Shinkansen,” and announced the starting lineup, saying, “This is starting line-up.”
Coach Maritetsu Morimoto posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account at around 1:00 PM, when the team was originally scheduled to arrive at Shin-Osaka, “This is bad! Another stop! #ShizuokaStation.” He then wrote, “I wonder if the BOSS will announce the Instagram starting line-up soon.”
This was the second time this season that the team had trouble traveling to Osaka. On August 1st, their flight from Hokkaido to Osaka was significantly delayed, resulting in them arriving at Osaka via Haneda Airport and arriving at the stadium approximately three hours later than planned. Manager Shinjo, who was traveling on a separate flight, announced starting line-up on Instagram. “We won’t have time to practice once we arrive, so please get the starting line-up players moving at the airport,” he said, urging his players to prepare. Amid the chaos, including the cancellation of batting practice, the start of the game was delayed by 16 minutes.
Just before 4:00 PM that day, Orix announced the change in game time through their official website. “The game between Orix The Buffaloes and Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters, scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM today, Friday, September 5th, at Kyocera Dome Osaka, is expected to start later than planned due to transportation delays for The Fighters team caused by Typhoon Hagibis,” the team said. “More details will be posted on the team’s website and social media as they become available.”
The announced starting line-up is as follows:
1 (middle) Isobata
2 (Right) Yazawa
3 (Left) Mizutani
4 (3) County Governor
5 (1) Kiyomiya
6 (catcher) Tamiya
7 (finger) Ishii
8 (2) Yamagata
9 (shortstop) Mizuno
