you’ll be able to check out any sort of episode that you might have missed well welcome to another new show that this podcast has to offer yes we are that big to where we need to have shows on top of shows this one you know it’s it’s a take it or leave it type of show you either like me or you don’t you know it’s it’s it’s it’s kind of cut and dry this is my own show it’s called the evening Brew kind of a thing about doing this for a little bit now and unfortunately because of scheduling and whatnot it kind of was forced to be kind of become a reality there um so you know what I I we we end up taking a couple weeks off there Josiah and Tyler are still going to end up being on here from uh from a week to week basis I I I think but um yeah for the most part just GNA kind of be me on here and then still gonna have slam session there on Tuesdays um and then a clip there throughout the week so keep supporting that as well but um want to end up getting into a topic and I I didn’t want to talk about the Cincinnati Bengals as my first topic on this show because I didn’t want to come off as being one of those fans that you know is just never going to not talk about their team but the Bengals are a pretty big piece of conversation right now with Jamar Chase T hickin and Trey Hendrickson all kind of needing contracts now you know jamar’s entering the last year there of his deal T was franchise taged there last year and then tra entering the final year of his contract and really all three of them all have pretty solid Seasons I I know that t Higgins didn’t get to a thousand yards he missed a few games but um I mean still had north of 900 Jamar had the the Triple Crown season um and then Trey Hendrickson second and defensive player of the year voting led the league there in sack so obviously had a had a big year and Joe burrow has been on this huge media tour just talking about how the Bengals need to pay everybody um you know the look at the Eagles the Eagles were able to pay for everybody and and they just won the Super Bowl so open up your wallets and there’s a lot of fans that are backing them now you spot the CNA stuff here in the background obviously you know my allegiances are are not very well hidden here um I have to say the more that I think about it I think the more I disagree with Joe on this one um I I I don’t think that you need to pay for all three necessarily obviously you know Joe had to end up getting locked up and that that was a pivotal piece and I I think that inarguably at this point Jamar jacee that’s number two there in your franchise um I call me crazy but with how the Bengals draft wide receivers I I don’t know if T Higgins is is necessarily one of those guys that I’m going to want to pay big money for if I’m the Bengals um if you just look at this list of guys that uh that Cincinnati has has drafted over the years um and and have paired them up with an above average Quarterback at the very least average Quarterback um this time they they they have Joe borrow there at the helm but the guys they drafted there Chad Johnson AJ Green um Isaac Curtis I don’t know if a lot of you guys know that but Chris Collinsworth um hush bada Jamar Chase T Higgins um so OB like like two guys that we’re talking about here like we drafted them um the one like similarity that the Bengals and the Steelers have is they both can Draft receivers really really well I I I don’t really know a Cincinnati team outside of some of those 90s teams that didn’t have like a premier weapon out there on the outside and and they’re so good at it that that’s why um that’s why they’re in that predic predicament right now I think you have to pay Trey just based off of how the defense ended up playing there last year but I think you need to have more than just Trey signed back there now they’re they’re talking about maybe cutting Jermaine Pratt maybe Sam Hub they just end up cutting Sheldon rankins like they’re they’re starting to kind of make some some cap room there um but you need to be spending a lot more of that money there on on the defensive side now I I can hear people already well Josh you got to keep your Star Quarterback happy and and I get that I I I think that there are many times where that that probably is the answer this isn’t one of those times the Bengals don’t draft well anywhere else outside of receiver like I I mean yeah they’re not they’re not bad at drafting quarterbacks but golly they’ve had their misses they they they draft receiver really really well they’ve missed on Corners they’ve missed on line on linebackers hell the the defense that everybody was talking about there before outside of Jesse Bates a lot of those guys were guys that they end up signed there in free agency that this is not a a defensive sounded operation so you’re gonna have to spend your money in free agency on the on these defensive pieces if you’re paying Jamar Chase $40 million a year which is what you’re likely going to have to do at this point because you end up waiting until this year to sign them why I’m sorry I can’t afford $30 million there for T Higgins and guess what he can get 30 plus million dollar somewhere else New England’s not paying anybody they have over100 million in cap space they would gladly sign for $30 million T Higgins they would like there there there are plenty of you don’t think that the Raiders over there they just lost Devonte Adams yeah they end up getting um oh God that that that tight end over there not Brock Brock Bowers they’ve got him over there but they’re talking about trying to draft shoor Sanders maybe you know if they’re trying to get young there at quarterback you’re not going to run out AOC I would assume um all I’m saying is T Higgins has some value out there if you wanted to get to a spot where you were tagging him and trading them I I I totally get that as well um but yes sign Jamar yes sign Trey but Trey’s even only like a two or threee contract isn’t I don’t think a long-term thing necessarily because he he is 31 I don’t know man I if you draft a receiver well and this is what you PID Joe burrow for I believe that Joe burrow was the second best quarterback in the league and on some Sundays he is the best quarterback in the in the entire league and I don’t think that second is is disputable but at the very least you have to say top three top four and that one’s not disputable if he is that guy which I believe he is yes you keep Jamar you’re not going to give him nothing go develop somebody else it’s not like you went to college with t yeah I I don’t know how Yoshi BOS is gonna end up being there as a two I think he’s closer to a three so maybe that is a guy that you have to or a position that you have to go fill there in the first or second round but the rest you just draft defense you also have to to to address the offensive line I there there are a lot of issues with this team and a receiving core is just not what I feel like is missing with this team um yeah I again I don’t want to leave Joe out there with nothing certainly sign Jamar but if you got to move off at T Higgins just to spend extra dollars there on the defense or the offensive line I I would L take that any day of the week helped Joe out a little bit they were in so many one possession games that was a playoff team this year just based off of me saying yeah the quarterback was in the MVP conversation the wide receiver won uh won the Triple Crown and then the star pass rusher end up leading the league in sacks yeah nine times out of 10 that’s a playoff team and and signing T Higgins you’re just asking for another year that you just end up seeing it signing T doesn’t do anything thing just move off him kind of reset that that whole cycle there and stock up there on defense oh boy you know Golden State made a pretty pretty crazy move during the the trade deadline week they went out there and got Jimmy buckets Jimmy Butler H Butler playoff Jimmy whatever you want to call him he is um he is somebody that I think is super fascinating because he does seem to help teams win he does seem to um to elevate teammates you know for for whatever that’s worth and he always just has his best moments there in the playoffs that’s that’s first and foremost um he did not want to go to Golden State he had kind of like vetoed that trade there at first and then end up going with that there in the end anyway and I thought that it made them interesting enough to where I didn’t think they would make it like I thought they would be out of the play in I thought they would be like a legitimate playoff team um now I think that they might be competing for the conference hear me out I I I know that we’re only six games in for what it’s worth they are five1 there with Jimmy there but look at the teams they’re in the west and and you tell me how confident you are in these teams you have Oklahoma City who we were pretty confident in them last year they got bounced in the second round of the playoffs like I’m I’m not saying that I’m doubting OKC but there’s reason for speculation Memphis Yeah they were kind of an out of the no or out of the blue team um yeah we really like John Morant but does his play style does that last for a full season I’ve been wondering that haven’t really seen as like being like a a big mainstream media conversation there but Memphis certainly has some some question marks and they’re kind of newer to the whole Frey Denver I actually trust the most here out of the current playoff teams the Lakers I mean they don’t have any sort of Defense I I know that they played joic really well there the other night against or sorry I guess in Denver I can’t talk tonight um Lucas coming off his best game there as a Laker let’s kind of see how that whole thing shakes out I’m rooting for them okay I’m definitely I’m a Luca guy and I’m a LeBron guy so I’m I’m rooting for that but there’s major question marks there it’s so new Houston super young they really don’t have a Dependable number one option to score either and at some point that’s gonna bite them especially there in the playoffs um Clippers you want to trust Kawai yeah come back to me and then James Harden there in the playoffs yep heard crickets there too Minnesota that I think that they’ve looked a little I think they’ve looked a little bit weaker than them last year and last year they looked like they were kind of like a step ahead of where they should have end up being so I I don’t know if I even trust them to come out of the play in Dallas okay and Sacramento okay so Golden State right now well I understand they have some question marks on their on their team we’ve seen Steph Curry win at all we we’ve seen Draymond Green win at all Jimmy Butler’s been right there he’s made the finals a couple of times and he’s arguably going to be the best player in these playoffs as long as playoff Jimmy is you know the same as old playoff Jimmy right now the spacing that that that golden state is working with and and I heard this point today on um on ESPN I I thought that it was a really good point there by by Tim legler with the uh with the free throws that U the jimmmy is kind of orchestrating right now it leaves Steph there for like 60 to 90 seconds where he’s not doing anything he’s just kind of like able to sit there and catch his breath that’s not he was what he was doing there before I I understand that step’s conditioning has always been topnotch but gosh it just always felt like he was running around constantly at least now yeah he may still be kind of doing it there to a certain extent he’s at least taking a little bit more breaks there and kind of like where the the Luca trade helped LeBron out in the sense of oh whoa I can actually go to the bench and I’m not losing my lead there while I’m sitting there riding the bench that’s what Steph is looking at this like too now there’s another option there to end up scoring you can alternate the both them there on the bench and get them both ample time there to kind of take a break but there’s another option Steph hasn’t had a legitimate number two option in a few years no no no disrespect to Klay Thompson whatsoever but he has not been the same player in years even when they won the championship I mean there was there were serious questions there at a certain point in that season that like do we just shut this down um they they if you think Draymond Green was like the the offensive piece like there just wasn’t anything they try to make the whole buddy heel thing work but I I think that what they have cooking right now I think that this is a team that that can make it out of the West and has a shot to win at all never forget they beat Boston a few years ago I understand that was a different time there for Jason Tatum and Steph’s a few years older there’s a little bit there where the uh the the regular season game since that finals um run there that that Golden State and Boston were on the regular season game since then it’s not like Boston has completely looked dominant in those games there there is a little bit of living rentree there in their heads excited man excited um all right last thing I want to talk about was some baseball oh my gosh brother oh EML is in some trouble um so backstory I went out to lunch with my grandpa a few weeks ago had his 79th birthday this man is a full-time mechanic um and he’s just just he’s crazy I I cannot believe that he’s still doing that but leave that aside um he’s a huge Reds fan he actually he he played baseball with Pete Rose there on the west side of Cincinnati um growing up he’s huge uh huge into the Reds um got my dad into it got me into it um big thing well the reds are no longer able to be watched there on cable TV because you know the balet sports Sinclair whatever you want to call them uh Diamond Sports Group they they file for bankruptcy and so now all of a sudden the the local team that that used to be a no given there as a part of your cable service gone ESPN just announced here over the weekend that after this upcoming season baseball will no longer be on ESPN and it it it has me a little concerned because I I bring up the fact that my grandpa who is a big Reds fan cannot watch the Reds this year because it’s not there on cable um I bring that up because of how baseball I guess has worked over the last 30 years baseball there in the 90s kind of had a little bit of resurgence there and then at some point there in the mid to late 2000s started kind of drift off a little bit there pretty pretty sizely too it’s a pretty quick dip um the 90s was just like a nice little Resurgence there after after the baseball strike there 94 comes back um and you had the whole home run Chase there between Barry Bond and Samy s it was awesome time for baseball um baseball hasn’t been marketed like that since then baseball hasn’t been talked about on these talk shows there on on ESPN and Fs one and and CBS since then um baseball’s really only brought up there in October and it’s brought up there during the All-Star Game people love the All-Star game still which is is cool for me because I I love the All-Star Game too I think it’s the only one that’s that’s still pretty sacred I although I did like the four nations so because you haven’t marketed the whole sport very well in the past 30 years and you haven’t talked about it on a national platform in 30 years your audience has gotten fairly fairly older I was looking at this number today the average uh average age here for a baseball fan is 44 years old 44 years old now that’s that’s not old by any stretch but in comparison for football it’s 35 35 years old versus 44 and I feel like that number is going to that number is either going to Plateau at 44 or it’s going to continue to go up um but ESPN not not carrying the baseball games anymore is that that’s that’s a pretty big thing um because now the fans that you didn’t have to Market to because you could just rely on the fact that they they could remember the Glory Days of baseball now they don’t have a way to watch it who’s who’s gonna tell so and so to watch it now like I I’m I’m confused Fox already dropped them ESPN dropped them they’re streaming games on Roku on Sunday mornings um they they they had games there on Apple TV I don’t think that deal is coming into this season your your only guess there at this point is to to go to Apple TV or go to Apple TV to go to mov TV um or FanDuel TV apparently is now carrying some of the local places very sad to watch I guess how this has gone but this was so predictable like we we’ve been saying for years now that soccer was going to end up overtaking baseball and who would have thought that hockey would have ended up getting the ESPN deal and Major League Baseball would have been given the cold shoulder I I don’t know if NBC picks it up I don’t know if Fox tries to buy back into it just you know Buy Low sell High type of approach but that was a huge thing for baseb it kind of got glossed over um but man dude baseball’s in some real trouble they are in some real trouble [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] a
