[Applause] forch. [Applause] [Music] for the Cubs to have that little rest, recuperation, get over after the All-Star break and then come back home and then treat these fans to a quality victory. That’s what they were looking for. Well, there was no lag after the All-Star break for the Chicago Cubs. You come out here and get the 4 to1 victory today. Everybody was cooking on all cylinders. Colin Ray threw a great game. The offense, Seas Suzuki going out there in the first inning with the three-run homer. The atmosphere out here is electric. Okay. And speaking of electricity, Sea Suzuki, I think it’s a safe assumption that my man was plugged in from the very start of this one. It’s all about getting a pitch that you can hit. And with ducks on the pond, sea, well, he put that hard maple to good use, man. The clubs made Lucas Gilito throw 30 pitches in the first inning. This is a fast ball that he tried to sneak by him. And hey, he is not, he did not have four days off right there. Sey was in the batting cage working on his swing the whole time. He knows the biggest room in the house is indeed the room for improvement. And Seya postall Allstar game snub, it’s personal right now. He took exception to that. And when you’re one of the best in all of the show, not only for the home runs, but for the ability to drive in runs as well, he should feel a little bit offended and snubbed. I mean, when you put up career numbers that are all your best numbers before the All-Star break, you’ve stayed healthy, you’ve gone out. He had he has 80 RBI’s now, 26 bombs. I mean, come on. Say it’s Suzuki getting the All-Star sub. Let’s go. Yeah, just another day at the office. Craig, it’s kind of interesting if you play the offensive MVP of the team. you really have three guys, you could just split the vote. The one that didn’t make the all-star team is is might be having the best of it, you know. Yeah, you could probably put four in there. Um and I and I think um yeah, I mean say he’s having a tremendous offensive season and you know getting get guys in I mean even his other batch today excellent. hit a couple other balls hard and and just it’s just put put men on base in front of them and good things have seemed to happen this year and we’ll keep trying to do that. Um but we’ve got the top you know those guys are are all swinging it good and it makes it tough to get through those guys. You know you got to get through those guys four four to five times a night and that that makes it makes us a good offense from Sea showing everyone what they missed during Allstar week. There is no doubt about that. Sea Suzuki well he’s like a chainsaw when he steps in that batter’s box. He has one mode and that is go mode. Seizuzuki here he is on a banner day at the ballpark. [Music] He’s a good pitcher but you know it was in a tough situation for him. So I was trying to think about you know I want to take uh take this opportunity and make the best out of it. So stay aggressive there. How did you spend the all the break and did you watch the game? Uh I was asleep the whole time so I didn’t watch it once. Say a word. Did they officially ask you to be in the home run derby or no? [Music] on the sky. I mean, there was an invitation, but even if I didn’t go, I can’t win. So, I said no. Why can’t you win? I mean, if you look at my body, probably tell Edwin might have been able to. Uh, do you think the break do you think the break will be helpful to you just getting that extra rest where you’re away from the allstar hoopla and everything else that goes on with that? Yeah, I think so. You know, I was able to get a lot of rest. Um that was the first time in the first half where I didn’t have any major injuries and you know there was a little bit of fatigue built up so you know I was able to u take time off the rest of my body. Going back to the whole run you talked about being aggressive and that’s something that you wanted to do. Was that was that kind of prime example what you can do when you’re aggressive the first two hitters and taking long at bats and got lost when you went after the first pitch [Music] So we can’t do this. Yeah, I mean, you know, he has good command and I think I was able to see a lot of pitches because of the first two at best high pitch count, you know, tough tough situation for him and, you know, because I was able to do that, you know, I was thinking about, okay, if the opportunity is there, you know, stay aggressive on that first pitch. Do you view this, since we didn’t watch you in Japan, as the best season you’ve ever had to this point in a baseball season? Yeah, I would say so. Um, I’m surprised myself with how much, you know, RBI’s I’ve been getting, how much home runs I’ve been getting. Never would have thought that those numbers would be there. So, I just want to, you know, stay consistent with it and, uh, take it into the second half. How much fun has it been to watch say this year at the plate, especially, you know, coming off the break, first pitch after the break? Yeah, kind of perfect. Um, he’s obviously picked up right where he left off and um I just I hope he I hope he approaches the second half for himself as as just an opportunity to show everybody, you know, what could have happened to him for the All-Star break. Um, same with Bushy, same with Carson. But, um, yeah, Sei’s Sea has been doing it for us and he’s pretty incredible. So, I just hope that he uh you know, he continues to let himself do that and I think he’ll be just fine. We didn’t get to ask you about the All-Star game, the local group here. Uh what was that experience like and put it into a a short sound bite of what what that meant to you and how it was for your family? Yeah, it meant everything. I had my I had my parents there and some of my best friends. So, um it’s really all I could ask for. And getting to share with Kyle and Maddie was awesome. Mattiey’s family, Sam. Um, so obviously Haley, my girlfriend, but um, I mean, it was just a a lot and not a lot of time. And, um, I think I still somehow found a way to to take it in a couple times and, um, it was pretty surreal. It was it was uh, it was special. Seiya said he slept during the game and rested a lot during the break. Are you jealous of that? He he what? Said he slept during the All-Star game and rested missed the break. You jealous of that? No. Um, no. Seiya Seiya got a lot of good family time in. I I heard a little bit about his plans. So, um No, I’m glad he got his sleep. Um I just want I just want arrested Seiya every day. You know, that’s a it’s a good Seiya. It’s the best Seiya. So, well, Seiya Suzuki, he’s locked in in the second half and uh forewarned is fair warned for 29 other ball clubs. Brian Bellow, he’s going to get the nod tomorrow and he’ll be opposed by the throwing philosopher. showed to Imanaga 6 and3 with a 2.65 6’5 and just when you think he may be taking a few steps back, he goes out there and absolutely shoves just like we saw him versus those New York Yankees gave the pinstripes fit swing on. Yeah. Before the All-Star break, he went out there and dominated. Only gave up one run, six strikeouts. And his outing before that, if you remember, he only had one strikeout. So, what that shows me is that Sea is adaptable, right? In that outing before, he threw a lot of pitches and he threw a lot of strikes. So, he got weak contact. In this last one, he really mixed it up against the Yankees. You see here making Aaron Judge look bad. talked about earlier in the year against Showy Otani. So, it doesn’t matter lefty, righty, he just has the stuff. You talk about the plane and the way that he’s able to command both sides of the plate. Shin’s just been outstanding this year. Like you said, the 265 RA and the 6 and3 record. You take a look at his last four starts since coming off the IL 2.42 with that 63 whip. Get to read it with a jeweler’s eye. You know, part of the reason why he has some of those devastating numbers. He has that left-handed split finger fast ball that rarely do you ever see any left-handed pitchers tap into. But one thing I really want to ask of you before we leave here, show Emmanag, he seems to be a pitcher that learns from his mistakes. How dangerous are pitchers like that? Okay, here’s what happened last time. Fool me once, but you won’t fool me twice cuz you try to make an adjustment to him and then he makes adjustment to you. So, it’s a cat-and- mouse game. But if you saw there too, he had 14 strikeouts, only two base on ball. So, he’s coming after you. You know, when you get in that batter’s box, he’s not going to walk you. So, you better be ready to hit. Yeah. In that cat and mouse game, usually the feline is the one that comes out on top. But, uh, show to Emmanaga, he’s playing the role of Jerry Mouse. He’s not letting that perfect mouse trap get him anytime soon. We’ve seen him go out there and shove. And hopefully, we’ll see a lot more of that tomorrow. [Music] Fore! [Music] Foreign! Foreign! [Music]
