I want to make the best decision I can make for the team to win. That was the hardest thing to do, but it was the right decision for me to do. I didn’t want the players to have expectations from me. like we’re friends. So you have to I expect you to put me in the lineup tomorrow. Even if I’m 0 for410, you know, I didn’t want the players to feel that way. So I want the players to earn the spot to play, the right to play. If you play good, you show me you can play. You show me you can win, you going to be in the lineup. Once you earn that, if you can be an everyday player, I make you an everyday player. You have to earn it and I’m going to give it to you. that that mentality I had and I learned a lot from from haraku those things. You have a tendency. My weakness never been told that, you know, I think that when you give a positive vibe is you also have to show how you can be positive by doing what you know a lot of people goes to the cage and they spend 1 hour in the cage and they don’t know what they doing so that is not positive at all but if I you go to the cage and spend 20 minutes and then that is very positive so that’s a very good positive advice you’re going to keep it with you that’s why I always say positive things keep it positive if you can do this you’re going to see good results in the game today. That’s those are the positive things I always keep in it. A lot of people, a lot of players, they can be so much better, you know, if they get a good advice from their coaches. A lot of the coaches don’t want to say anything to the players because the player may be famous or he had Guangu season. So, he doesn’t want to touch, he doesn’t want to, you know, change anything. And even though the coach can see that the player is choi and doing something wrong, he doesn’t want to say anything. We want to be positive to be able to change the players momentum. You know those those things I think it needs in Japanese baseball all a lot of a lot of the coaching not all of them but a lot of the coaches are like that in the states judge is you know fighting coach advising. Yes, of course. Of course. You know, the system in the states a little bit different, you know, than than Japan because the the even the Kuku can help the the heers. I don’t judge Chiwi and he wants to get uh advice from, you know, boom, Kuku. Uh let’s go to the cage. But in Japan, I have to be the body coach. And sometime the batting coach doesn’t say anything to the player because of their respect. But not in the states is different than here. Feel free to ask anything. [Music] Hi Hi. Hi. I thought I would get fired. I don’t know. Open, you know. It was no you you actually you earned that position. You know, I actually when I when I mention about, you know, Sano and Kamisato and also Austin to be like the regulars to start and Kamisato goi the show and the last last in open sand he was really really bad and I I I figured that wow you had you came in ready from day one. I mean your body style changed, your mentality changed and I was like wow Kaji is a totally different person now. maybe this this year is his last year on the contract. Maybe he wants to, you know, put something good. So, you showed me that you really wanted to play, you know, that’s why it made me change my mind. The the plan that I had it was not that you were not going to be a study member is was that you were going to be a backup player rotation with because I wasn’t expecting Austin to be ready every every game, you know. So I was thinking yeah Austin maybe get hurt or something you know but that uh we have a kaji just in case Sano being the first you know first year there I second year so I was thinking so you know I don’t know if something happened with so you were going to be the next guy at that time but you what you show me was no and I don’t want to be the next guy I want to be the first guy out there and you earned that right from the beginning and you stayed consistent the whole throughout the whole year. I you didn’t give a chance for me to use somebody else. You you you kept it. You grabbed that position. You kept it. That was amazing. You know, one more thing was the Kamisato. He was he was very very good at that time. Was you know coming in everybody liked him. He had a good season the day the year before. I I I and and I was thinking, wow, Kamisato is good, but maybe seven, eight inning is good, but then I may have to use somebody out for defense. And then I if I need somebody to come and steal bases from the bench, maybe 99% you’re going to you’re going to steal the base. So if if if I need a speed at the end of the game, you can be that guy and then you can play the defense as well. So you know all these little things you know you have to put it on play when you know when you are a manager you know so you know that’s that’s that’s that was the strategy at that time you hours. Back to the last ups and downs two years and I was against driver. one for like 10 then I got sent down 16 home gave up on me. So yeah. Yeah, I remember exactly what happened. And you know, at that time we the reason why we didn’t call you up at that time because you were not going to be able to play every day. So you know, I didn’t want to bring you up and just have you in there. I I was waiting for the right timing to cut you up and you know and play you know because uh even though that your presence mean a lot in the dogout uh you know some of these young players they get kind of afraid oh can you see I cannot produce and if I’m chosu four games I’m not going to in one game I’m not going to play you know so we we wanted to keep that like that with the with the guys that we already had and the guys that we called up. It was to be a backup players. You’re not a backup player. You are an everyday player. That’s why we called up these guys, you know, just want to bat here defense, things like that, right? So that’s that’s the reason what you know, we we had to keep you there until the opportunity open up that we you know, we call you back. You know, being a DA after being an everyday player, it’s not easy thing to do, but that’s a good experience. You know I I did a diet as well and you know that was a good experience for me you know but that uh you know once once as a player you know we have many many questions of why Kuku is doing this why Kuku is doing that there is there is many decisions that have to be made as a as a as a Kuku that not only the Kuku is making those decision you know we are the front people we have all the coaches you know Some coaches say yes, some coaches some coaches say no. It’s is or we make decisions on the table, right? Then we make the best decision for the team. So yeah, sometimes that happens, you know. Yeah, I I felt that I knew more than than than Haruku, Wakamatsu Kuku, you know, Fura Ku, you know, I as a player, you know, you always feel like this guy don’t know what he’s doing, you know, sometimes, right?
