Orlando Monarchs vs. Atlanta Smoke – July 1st
F champion, the Atlanta Smoke. I’m Eric Lopez here with you and this is game two of the threeame series. Last night was game one that saw the Monarchs come away with an 8-2 win. As you look at the highlights from last night, Jada Cody for the smoke. Got the scoring started in the third inning with an RBI single that make it one to nothing. They would add a run in the fifth on a sack fly by Kiki Mallaloy, but that was all they would get from Caitlyn Felton. Of course, Jayla Wright was pitching magnificent, but M. Barbara broke to score it in the six for the Monarchs with an RBI single to the right. And Jen Julia Canonopoulos with a bases loaded clearing double that gave the Monarchs a 52 lead. And then Kylie Sand with a three-run homer to close the door on the Monarchs victory over the Smoke an eight sixth inning last night. They gave the Monarchs game one of this three-game series. And now you look at Aspen Wesley, the starting pitcher for the Monarchs today. Corid off a great legendary career at Mississippi State. Former all SEC performer getting the ball for this Monarchs team looking to try to win a series here against the defending champion Smoke. And you look at the Smoke dugout. We’ll see. They led throughout most of game one yesterday up until that sixth inning. And they’ll look to regroup here and it’ll be Jana Jefferson will lead it off for the smoke. A three-time all-American out of Texas will be followed by Coco Woolly, the rookie out of Texas A&M at shortstop with Jada Cody and play batting third with Charlotte Eckles batting cleanup. Morgan How batting fifth, Kiki Malloy batting sixth with Jasmine Hill batting seventh. Michaela Timmons, the rookie at batting eighth and Elizabeth Mason, the catcher, hitting ninth for the smoke. Glad you could join us wherever you are. First pitch from Orlando here at the UCF softball complex is a ball and we’re underway. One and0 the count to Jade Jefferson. There’s the 10 pitch from Wesley. high two and0 the count it’s a hot sticky day here in Orlando 90° very humid for this game two of this threeame series the two pitch Jefferson swung kind of look for a showing butt there and takes the strike two and one see Jefferson was of course part of that Texas team that played for the national championship 2022. Got to be thrilled with her alma mada winning the national title here about a month ago. She swings and hits one to left, but Katsnik is under it and makes the catch for the first down of the ball game. So Jefferson retired on the fly out. There you see Stormmy Consick part of this Monarch’s defense. Of course, the rookie from UCF knows this field very well. Knows how to play the outfield. And of course, she’s playing over at left field with this defense coming with Coleman at right field as Woolly, the rookie from&M, swings and fouls it off. Cover is 0 and one. Morgan Smith over at center. Shine shining a little bit towards left center a little bit
with the rookie Woolly. 01 pitch. Slap to third. Scaggs is there. Throw to first in time. Nice job by Alli Skaggs to get the second out as Coco Woolly is retired. Two up, two down here at the top of the first. That’ll bring up Jay Cody. The plate looking last play. today slapped ball there by Willie, but Scaggs was prepared. Showed off of that glove, of course, that made her the 2023 Gold Glove award winner and Pack 12 defensive player of the year. That way, she played at Arizona. Now, Cody takes a strike or it would won the count to Jada to Cody. Of course, this is her home return where she played at UCF from 2020 to 2024. starting at first base tonight. Only played a couple of times at first base during her UCF career. She played mostly third base catch and some left field during her UCF time. Had a game at second base and a game at first base. During her illustrious career at UCF, her and Shannon Dohy tied for the most wins by a UCF player in the history of the program. the 1-1 to Cody outside two and one. Cody was an all-American D1 softball all-American in 2022. Set the school record in single season RBI’s breaking the legendary Stephanie Best who of course played at UCF and had a long lengthy pro career. Two-1 pitch. Cody takes inside. Three and one. Cody’s got a lot of family members in attendance. They made the drive here. They’re going to drive up to Georgia for the Smokes home opener this weekend where they host the New York Rise.
It’s low
starting on July 4th. 3-1 pitch. Cody swings, fouls it off to the right side. Cody’s family, of course, lives in California, which is where Jada is from. drove in an RBI last night. Going one for three. Wesley with a payoff pitch. Cody to Hawks one to left. Katsick makes the catch. Cody’s former teammate Stormmy Katsick. played together at UCF in 2024. And Cats neck robs her of a base hit. What a play defensively by Catsneck as she dives here and robs Cody of a hit and ends the top of the first. The Monarchs will come to the plate. Cats will hit second when we return. I figured out How is it? There you see Donnie Gober of course such a big made a name for herself at South Carolina. got the Gamecocks to the regional final in Tallahassee in 2023. A win away from the Super Regionals. Getting the ball here for the smoke. Game two of this three-game series. She’ll face Alex Coleman, the rookie from North Carolina, who lead it off for the Barks. Go. First pitch up high. Expect a lot of gas thrown
from Goldberg. She throws as hard as it gets in softball. There you see Coleman who played this year for Megan Smith Lion and North Carolina after playing at starting her career at Marshall with Megan Smith Lion. Coleman slaps it fouled. Count is a ball and a strike. One and one the count the left-handed hitting Coleman will be followed by Stormmy Katsu. Pitch is went around in Coleman they say and it’s count of one and two. Katsune hitting the two spot. Mac Barbara hitting three. It’s pretty much the same lineup for the Monarchs as last night. That offense exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the six. to get that 8-2 win. Coleman slaps one to the left that will drop for a hit. A leadoff single for Coleman and a good start for the Monarchs here in the bottom of the first. Let’s take a look here as Donnie Goldberg giving up the single. There’s defense. Kiki Mallaloy there in left field with Jasmine Hill at center. Morgan Howard right with Eckles at third, Woolly at short, Jefferson at second. There’s Jada Cody at first base with Elizabeth Mason behind the plate. And again, Cody made a couple of starts at first base in her UCF career on this field. Katc with a sack butt. Go will field throw to first in time with Jefferson fielding to first base coming over from second. It’s a sack bunt for Stormmy Copsick that advances Coleman to second base. And that’ll set the stage here for M. Barbara, the rookie from Texas A&M. Kind of unique facing her former teammate Koko Woolly. Both were part of the Aggies team this past year that was the number one overall national seed and cosec tournament champions. Of course, played at San Diego State prior to that. Part of that super regional team of the Aztecs in 23. Gets an opportunity here. takes a ball facing Donnie Goldberg. Two and0 the count to back Barbara two pitch their first strike. Two at one. Two-1 pitch. It’s a ground ball to first. There’s Cody. Will touch the bag at first to get Barbara out. Coleman advances to third with now two outs here in the bottom of the first. at the third. There comes Ally Skaggs to the plate. Excited to be playing Pro Bowl here. Playing here with her dad in attendance among family members. Making the trip to watch Skaggs play here this week. Swinging and missing there. They’re 0 and1 the count to Alli Skaggs who of course got to play for both Mike Krea and Caitlyn Low the 01. Miss Skaggs was part of that Arizona team in Kendra’s last year in 2021 and of course then it played for Caitlyn Low who got promoted from associate head coach to head coach. A ball and a strike to count to Scaggs. It’s missed outside for a ball. Two and one the count. Coleman at third base with two outs. That’s up high and it’s three and one to Scags. 3-1 pitch. Fouled off there to third. It’s three and two. Three balls, two strikes the count. Payoff pitch high ball force. Scaggs draws a walk. Two on, two out here in the first. Here we go. Alyssa Garcia to the plate. So Garcia will step in with first and third. Two outs here in the first. First pitch of strike. It’s won the count. The one pitch outside ball one and one to Garcia. Coleman led off this inning with a single. She’s at third base. Alli Skaggs at first base. There you see Coleman at third held by Eckles. And then you got Scaggs at first. Garcia grounds to second. Jefferson’s there will throw to first in time to retire the side. Monarchs get a hit. Strand two. We’re through one here in Orlando. No score between the Monarchs and the Smoke. Oh my god. Yeah, we’re about to Welcome back. There you see the wind has all of a sudden picked up here at Orlando going right to left as some clouds are starting to come over here. That’s hopefully kind of stays away as we’ll get set for the top of the second inning on this hot 90°ree day. And it’ll be Charlotte Eckles to lead it off here for the smoke going against the Monarchs. Aspen won. But yeah, the first time we’ve seen some wind here so far in this series. It was a perfectly day, perfect day yesterday. No wind. Not really any clouds to be found yesterday. Here we’ve got some clouds that we’re going to certainly be watching.
One of the reasons why this game started a few minutes early. as Eckles takes ball one.
Eckles will be followed by Howal and Mallaloy. But yeah, interesting to follow this with the wind picking up going right to left. So that means the ball is probably going to fly out on any ball to left. Could be interesting. A ball and a strike. The count here to Eckles. Time called here. Some equipment check. Make sure they’re properly fixed to Charlotte Eckles. Ball and a strike here. Top of the second in game two of this threeame series and the wind really picking up now as the 1-1. Eckles hits it to the right side of second. Backhand play by Flity. Throw to first in time. A nice job by Devin Flity. to get Eckles. 4-3 on the ground now for the first out here in the top of the second. Good to see Flity back as you look at this last play. Eckles hitting that ball pretty well, but Flareity the former with a nice backhand to get Eckles out. Former Simino getting the former Gator out on that one. Flity back from an injury. You see wearing a face mask on her face. got hurt in the Bahamas right before the eve of the season and she’s back. So now how at the plate one on and one out. Al takes low for a ball. One and one the count. You
see Morgan How played at Arizona State for a couple of years. A 1-1 in the dirt. Good block by Garcia there. Of course, last nights got a complete game from the rookie Caitlyn Felton picking up the victory at her home here at UCF. Two and one the count strike and it’s two and two. Two balls, two strikes to count. Low pitch. A high ball three. Three and two as Hal has worked to count
here against Wesley. Payoff pitch coming. Howal gets jammed, pops it up towards first as the play is made by Cushianopoulos. Cushians making a play for the second out here at the second. Got to bring up Kiki Malloy. Malloy will hit here. The former all-American from Tennessee hits here with no one on, two out. Malloy walked, was hit by a pitch yesterday. Drove in a run and a sack fly that gave the smoke a two nothing lead at the time in the fifth inning. The one pitch to Malloy outside for a ball. One and one. A ball and a strike to count that is missed high. Two and one. What’s unique about this stadium is normally when the wind’s blowing out, it comes left to right, at least during the spring, during the college season. Missed low there. Rarely does it blowing out from right to left like this. Three balls in a strike to Kiki Malloy. Mallaloy hits a high popup. Scaggs fighting the sun. The wind actually took it. There’s that wind we talked about. The wind took a hold of that one and it drops for a hit. Let’s take a look here. You see Scaggs. First of all, she’s fighting the sun, but then the wind you see moving it around, swirling. And that’s what’s interesting that the wind’s blowing right to left, but then it’ll swirl back in. Makes it very tricky sometimes at this stadium. Malloy will take it for a hit. So that’ll bring up now Jasmine Hill. Tighter the better. Takes a strike. Jazz Hill here at the plate. 1-1. Runner goes, pitches a strike. throw to second. Not in time. And Malloy gets her second steal of this series, first one today, and puts herself in scoring position with a one-two count with two outs here in the second inning. Watu Hill rounds it past Scaggs and into left field. They’ll hold Malloy at third and it’s runners at the corners for the smoke with two outs here at the second. Timmons.
The rookie Michaela Timonss will come to the plate. Timonss the rookie out of Ball State. Yes, but not enough to say no.
Mac player of the year. An illustrious career at Ball State there representing hitting here with two on, two out for the rookie. Timmons takes a strike from Wesley and it’s 01. Malloy at third. Hill at first. Pitch outside. Big situation here. Smoke trying to get on the board first with a two-out rally here. Back-to- back hits. Timbons takes a strike. It’s one and two. Malloy with that infield hit on that popup that Skaggs had trouble with the win and the sun a little bit and then Hill with the single. The one two pitch that’s hit to third. Skaggs is there will throw to first in time to retire the rookie Timonss and the smoke here in the second inning. Smoke get no runs, two hits, no airs. Strand two. We’re through an inning and a half here in Orlando. Still no score. Vegas. Wow. Are you smart? I’m like, you know, I promise you go. Bottom of the second here in Orlando. No score between the Smoke and the Monarchs. Monarchs will have Morgan Smith to lead it off in the six spot. 678 to hit for the Barks here in the bottom of the second. Smith Anopoulos and Flity the scheduled hitters for the Bodarks here against Donnie Goldort. First pitch to go
for a ball. What an o the count. One and0 the count. Goldberg delivers first strike. It’s a ball and a strike. Game three tomorrow scheduled for tomorrow at 6 Eastern. That’s up high. Ball two. Two and one. Donnie Goldboard against Morgan Smith. Look at Smith. The last couple of years, of course, was a Scarlet Knight playing for Christ Butler, former professional player herself. That ball is hit deep to center field. It’s carried. He’s carried. It’s off the wall. Smith sliding into second. She’s out on a perfect throw and the smoke get a huge out
as Smith tried to dig in for a double. Gets thrown out at second base for the first down in the second. on a perfectly executed defense by the smoke. So, look at the replay. The ball was hit, crushed to center, the deepest part of the park. But you see the tag made by Woolly on the play there by the center fielder. Big big play. Jasmine Hill with the throw from center field. The rook, the second year out of Texas A&M, but the perfect throw to her former teammate KK Woolly to get the out of course. Now reunited once again. Woolly and Jasmine Hill. Played together a couple years ago in the&m.
Making a big defensive play to keep it scoreless here. Nobody on, one out. The two Julia at the plate takes a strike. It’s two and one. Two balls and one strike to count. The pitch. It is three balls at a strike. Three and one the count that’s outside ball four in a walk. So one on one out. Devin Flareity will come to the plate. number. So now Flity to hit with one on, one out. Runner at first here and one out. Flare of course, former Simol part of the Florida State teams that played for the National Championship Series in 2021 2023. It’s here with one out.
Sneezed. That’s miss for a ball.
No, I sneezed when I was live and my camera shook really bad. The one pitch is there. Two and0. has at least subsided a little bit. It’s two- pitch. It’s
a strike and it’s two and one. So, two balls and a strike to count. Flity got a piece of that and the count is it’s going to be two and two. Kind of try to drag a button it looked like there at least show to the right side. Maybe test out Cody at first base. Maybe also try to get Julie over to second at the same time. That is up high. Ball three. So Flarity’s worked the count full. Three and two. Payoff pitch. Strike three. Looking. They call her out. Strikes. Strike out for Goldberg. Inside quarter. First strike out of the ball game for Donnie Goldboard comes with now the for the second out here in the second inning. So now Kylie Sand will come to the plate. She hit the big three-run homer in the sixth inning last night. takes ball one. One and0 the count.
That capped off an eight run, four hit sixth inning for the Monarchs as the Monarchs would win it 8-2. The one out. It’s a strike. It’s one and one. This is the fourth fifth meeting this season between the Monarchs and the Smoke. They played three games in the Bahamas where the smoke won two out of three, winning game two and three as Sand swings that one upstairs and it count as one and two. What two pitch? It’s
foul back. Julie over at first base. Two outs here in the second. And that’s slapped to second. Jefferson will touch Julia the runner to end the inning. A promising inning for the Monarchs, but they get a hit, but they strand one. We’re through two. Still no score here on this Tuesday evening in Orlando. Yes, baby. Oh my god. Tinsley. Look at one. Top of the third, there you see some birds fly to their usual seating space to watch some softball, no matter if it’s spring or summer, whether it’s college or the professional ranks. like right now watching the Monarchs and the Smoke here at the top of the third. Elizabeth Mason to lead it off for the smoke. She’ll be followed by Jefferson and Woolly. 912. Elizabeth Mason of course part of the FSU national championship team in 2018. Lonnie Alamita strike owed to the count who was announced on Friday that she will be inducted into the Florida Sports Hall of Fame this November. The O2 Mason is in the dirt by Wesley. Count it’s one and two. Some the sun is back out after disappearing briefly. There was some concern, but some good blue skies are starting to pop up with the sun. That’s a good sign. We hope. One, two. Easy for me to say. I’m in the booth. These players are playing in conditions that are in the mid 90s right now. Zoey, go the other way.
Summer softball. A ball and a strike to count. And where did that was that a called strike there? Assume so. Aspen Wesley. Two and two is the count. Of
course, Mason and Wesley battling here. On the two- two pitch, Mason hits a highf fly ball to deep left field. Katon goes back back at the fence and score. See you solo home run as the smoke get on the board first on the solo home run by Elizabeth Mason. And it’s one- nothing smoke here in the third. Let’s take a look at that last pitch that just kept carrying there and Console knew it having played here. So the native of a Tampa, Florida, Elizabeth Mason with a solo home here in the third, giving the Smoke a one to nothing lead. Second to Jana Jefferson. Jana Jefferson will step in. First pitch from Wesley to Jefferson is outside for a ball.
I’m not wasting trees. Save the trees. Yeah, you could give it to somebody else. You don’t have to burn another one.
The one check swing bloop to right. It’s going to drop for a hit. Jade Jefferson with the excuse me single here in the third inning for the smoke. Took that one for an excuse me. She’ll take it now. Woolly, the rookie, will step in. Still nobody out. You’re in the third inning. First pitch low to Woolly. Of course, Aspen Wesley pitched at Mississippi State was all SEC performer. Learned from among others, Taran Moad. Taran Moad in her last senior year. She was the pitching coach of Mississippi State for where as Wesley had an LSC year or best year was under Taran Moak. Count is one and one. Soda Holland warming up in the bullpen for the Monarchs. One, one is missed outside. No swing. Two and one the count. I have no idea. Wait, was that actually right?
Are you serious? That was I was joking. The two-1 pitch. Swinging in a miss. Two and two. count.
Are the babies called goblets? The two- two pitch that’s slapped into left. It will drop for a hit. It drops in front of Celeneck who will play it in and it’s a single for Woolly. And so two on Dobby out here in the third inning. A home run and back-to-back singles as now Jada Cody will come to the plate. So Cody steps in. We’ll see what Cody does here with two on, nobody out. She had an RBI single in last night’s game up the middle in the third inning that gave the Smoke a one- nothing lead. That was off her former teammate Caitlyn Felton, former UCF teammate. There’s Cody Sco’s bunt and Jefferson took off halfway and then decided I’m going to go back to second. Garcia playing it safe there, making sure Jefferson went back to second base. Count is 0 and one to Cody. Takes this time around and it’s ball one. One and one. The count got good speed in the base pads with Jefferson at second and Woolly at first. Cody lined out to left in her first at bat.
Takes one up and in there. That was a play where Cats robbed her of a hit. The ball looked like it was going to go towards left center gap. Kick dove and make the catch. Two balls in a strike. The count to Cody from Wesley.
Oh, good. Pulling the strings. There was Wesley. Count is two and two. Of
course, these two, Wesley and Cody, have a history. They played each other in college back in 2023 and in 2024 when UCF and Mississippi State played. They played one year in Clearwater in 23 and played at Mary Nutter in 2024. Two two pitch. Cody gets jammed. Fouls it to third base. Down foul
ball. And the cat remains two it two pitch. Cody Tomahawks a popup to short. Kylie S is there. makes the catch to get the out. First out here in the third inning as Cody is retired. Got to bring up Charlotte Eckles to the plate.
Round it out to second back in the second inning. She hits here with two on, one out here in the third inning.
Thanks, Tinsley. I’ll take it home. Feel better. First pitch to Eckles outside ball one. Jefferson at second. Woolly at first. The 10. Nicholls fouls it off. Out of play. Count as a ball and a strike. One and one. The count. It’s
outside two and one. That calls an all America to Florida. and under Tim Walton. The two-1 pitch. Eckle hits one to left. Katonto is under it. Makes the catch for the second out of the inning. Runners hold as Eckles is retired. And Aspen Wesley has done a nice job here after giving up the home run in back-to-back singles. Has gotten Cody to pop up to short. And now Eckles to fly out to left. Now she faces Morgan. How steps in. First pitch. It’s a strike. That’s Oh, it wasn’t the count. left-handed hitting how here down to the cattle 01 try to add to this lead for the smoke the one pitch it’s outside for a ball and one the One-1 pitch. Jamther pops it up. Foul. The good news is all the dark clouds that was towards the right side of this the stadium is gone. There’s still some on the left side. We’ll still monitor that ball at two strikes. the count swing and a miss and Wesley gets the strike out to end the inning. But the smoke get on the board on the solo homer by Elizabeth Mason and at the end of two and a half here in Orlando. It’s the smoke one and the Monarchs nothing. my shoes. I was like, “This is cool.”
And then she’s like, Here we go. better. It is a lot of So sweet. And there you go. And got some dogs in the house today. Watching some good softball here in attendance. Bottom of the third. A one to nothing lead for the smoke over the Monarchs in game two of this three-game series with the Monarchs taking game one last night 8-2. Top of the order for the Monarchs with Coleman, Stormy Catsk, and M Barbara against Donnie Gold. First pitch. Oh, they got a piece of Coleman as she going with her motion. And she’s feeling it right now, showcasing it looks like uh let’s see, hit her in that left wrist, which is already taped up. They will attend to her here. Mention Goldberg throws hard. She’s been clocked in the past in the low7s. Not a lot of fun there. Hopefully, just kind of a a stinger. Nothing. No too serious. Trainers checking it out, moving her hand. She’s smiling. That’s a good sign for the young rookie Alex Coleman out of North Carolina s North Carolina’s SID. Alex Vunderberg in attendance to get some content on Coleman. Not sure this is what he had in mind. Let’s take another look here at that last pitch to see where Yeah. Now, what we don’t know is that the is the umpire going to award her first base or they’re going to say that it’s a foul ball? It’s going to be one of the two calls. Right now, the more important is Coleman. Yeah, looks like she’s going to get first base. So, it is a hit by pitch. She had to earn that one. All right, bring her home. Got a mitten on to
protect her some more there. So, Coleman on for the second time in the ball game. So, now had a sacrifice bunt back in the first inning.
Takes ball one outside. as CS on it takes there the ball to strike to count one swing and a miss by Kat Donnie Goldberg dialed that one up blowed Pass Kats on it. Kat is one and two. What two pitch? Scotsic slap. Foul. Stormmy Cats neck at the plate. Trying to get something going here for the Monarchs against Donnie Gold. One, two, swing and a miss. Scobber went upstairs, challenged Katsunck, and won the battle to get her second strike out of the ball game. One out here in the third. Please get off. So that’ll bring up Mac Barbara. It looked like she was looking into my eyes. As you look at this last pitch, getting the strike out. Now Barbara grounded out to first back in the first inning. takes ball one. One and0 the count. The one pitch outside ball two. Two and0. The count to Barbara. The two pitch.
Distrike gets two and one. Two-1 pitch. Runner goes and Coleman. She’ll take second without a throw. Pitch was called a strike, but Coleman gets the stolen base
and puts herself in scoring position with one out here in the third inning. Two- two pitch.
Matt Barber slices one to left. That’s going to be over the head of Mallaloy. They will send Coleman. She will score all the way from second. It’s an RBI single by M. Barber to tie the game up at one a piece. Good piece of hit by M. Barber dropping that one a left over the head of Mallaloy. And Coleman was going to score easily with her speed. And we’re tied at one here in the third. Alli Scaggs now to the plate. Second ball. What? One and0. The one pitch to Skags outside for a ball. Two and0 back. Barber at first base. There is some action in the bullpen for the smoke with Billy Kerwood, the rookie out of Delaware, warming up.
Skaggs swings and misses. on that one and it’s two and one. There you see Kerwood and a make magnificent career at Delaware for head coach Jed Steel. The two-1 pitch has missed three and one. Of course, last night both starters went deep into the ball games. There you see Kerwood who is top 100 D1 softball player of the uh top players of 2025 in the college softball season. The 3-1 pitch that is hit to right playable as the catch is made by How for the second out of the inning as Scaggs is retired. Barbara stays at first with two outs here in the bottom of the third. That’ll bring up Alyssa Garcia. Garcia to hit here with one on, two out. What? A swinging and a miss by Garcia. It’s 0 and one. Here we go. Garcia with a comebacker to Goldberg. Will throw to first in time to retire the side, but not before the Monarchs tie it up on an RBI single by M. Barber, scoring Alex Coleman. Ties us up at one a piece through three here in Orlando. You have to wrap it. So you put the bottle milk like that. I told you that you love it. Baby, what are you guys smelling? That one’s for dinner. Christmas. Top of the fourth here in Orlando. Smoke and the Monarchs tied at one. It’ll be Kiki Mallaloy who will lead it off here for the smoke followed by Jasmine Hill and the rookie Michaela Tibbitz thrown against Aspen Wesley still in for the Monarchs. Malloy swings first pitch. Ground ball to short. Backhand play there by Sand. Throw to first. Scooped up by Julia but not in time as Mallaloy beats it out. That’ll be the second hit for Malloy. Both infield hits. Remember, she hit the popup to third that the wind kind of played havoc with it and dropped for a hit, but now she gets on for the second time in the ball game. Now Hill swings first pitch, fouls it off. Count is owed. What?
It hit the palm tree. It hit the palm tree. You can’t see. You’re too short. The award pitch.
It’s outside for a ball. The one-1. That’s hit to third. Scaggs is there. Throw to second. Nope. They’re going to call foul. Foul ball. They call. So, we’ll do it again. One and two now. The count to Hill. Oh, I’ll come up with the name. No. One-two pitch from Wesley. That’s hit to short. Sand will go to second for one. Flarity’s there. They’ll get the force out to retire Malloy at second. Hill will reach on the fieldielder’s choice. It’s a one-on-one out for the rookie Michaela Tibbitz. Me neither. It’s a ground ball to third. Follow count is 0 what? Wesley delivers upstairs. That’s a ball. One and one that count at first base reached on the fieldielder’s choice after the infield hit by Mallaloy to start the inning. And that’s a base hit for Timmons. the rookie into left field and the Smoke have two on, one out here in the fourth. Elizabeth Mason will come to the plate. She hit the home run back in the third inning. She will hit here with two on and one out. Hit one to left back in the third inning. off Wesley who for now stays in ice ch off speed pitch first strike gets zed one to Mason Sona Hollajan was warming up earlier for the Monarchs There’s no action right now in the bullpen, but she’s warmed up in case Wesley gets into trouble. But that’s a strike and Wesley’s done a nice job working the count quickly to 02 here on Mason. Deal two.
Mason gets a piece of it, pops it up. Foul territory and it’s off the net. Zoe too. You got to get Mason slices one to right. That ball’s carried, but it will stay in the park as Coleman makes the catch
for the second out of the inning. Runners tag from second to third. is Hills now at third with Tim and Stain at first on the fly out by Mason.
That’s a nice job by Coleman.
Again, the breeze is still kicking. Not as hard as it was a couple of innings ago. But now you got first and third, two outs for Jana Jefferson. Jefferson slices it fad. Oh, what the count? Yeah, I’ve been under Wesley. Another wood pitch. Away for a ball. What? 4-1 pitch. Jefferson pops it up third. Scaggs has room. Makes the catch again. The wind trying to pull it back into fair territory, but Scaggs able to hang on. Makes the catch to retire the side and end the Smoke’s threat. Smoke strand two. We head to the bottom of the fourth. Still tied at one. Here we go. So it was like my arm. Come here. You see the rainbow? Hey, you stop. That’s a good sight with a rainbow out here on this Tuesday early evening here in Orlando. Game two of this threeame series between the Smoke and the Monarchs tied at one. Morgan Smith to lead it off here for the Monarchs here in the bottom of the fourth against Donnie Gold. First pitch, low ball, one, one run,
seven hits, no airs. For the smoke, one run, three hits, no airs for the
Monarchs. I’m taller than you. The one pitch is inside two and0. The two pitch check swing. No swing they say and it’s three and0. Three 0 is missed. Ball four. A leadoff walk to Smith here to start the Monarch’s fourth inning. Now Juliet to the plate. Let’s see what the Monarchs do here with Smith at first. Nobody out in the bottom of the fourth. Do you sacrifice here with Julia to let her hit away? First pitch outside for a ball. What did it over? The auto pitch up and in two and0. See the smoke bullpen. Billy Kerwood was warming up earlier now. Not much action. Glad Smith at Goldberg right now struggling to find the strike zone. He’s thrown seven balls here to start this inning. And now the bullpen’s up. Three 0. That’s a strike. First strike of the inning thrown by Donnie
Goldour. That ball’s back to Goldour who will go to first in time to get the out, but it does advance the runner how to second base or excuse me Smith to second base. So basically works out like a sacrifice and now Devin Flareity to the plate. So, Flarity comes up here. Struck out back in the first at bat. First pitch outside. Ball one. One and0. The count. The Wow. That’s missed two and0.
So Donnie Goldber has fallen behind the first three hitters of the Monarchs here to the bottom of the fourth. Two is missed. Three
and 0. See if Flity takes. She does. It takes ball four outside. That’s a walk. Second walk of the inning. And it’s two on, one out for Kylie S. Now again you have Autumn Peas warming up now for the
smoke. She came in relief last night in the sixth inning for Jayla Wright. You see Mason and the smoke here trying to settle down Goldborn has been a little wild here in this fourth inning. And it was Sand who hit the three-run homer off Autumn Peas last night. So, I don’t expect them to go to that move right here with Kylie Sand hitting the three-run homer back in the sixth inning last night. She grounded into a fielder’s choice. In her first at bat, she hits here with two on, one out. She gets jammed here and fouls it to the third base side. 0 and one the count. You saw double the wood pitch is missed for a ball. One and one. The one-1 sand takes a strike and Gober now ahead. One and two. The one two sand hits it off the end of the bat. It’s a fly ball to left. It’s going to foul territory, but plenty of room there are made as the catch is made by Mallaloy for a big second out as Sy is retired on the foul out. So, runners hold. First and second, two outs.
As we go to the top of the order with Alex Coleman to the plate, first pitch said their first strike. Get towed. What? Feel what pitch. Coleman slaps it. Foul out of play. And Goldber here after a shaky start to the inning is a strike away from getting out of it. Unscathed in the morning. wake up. Deal two.
It’s a ground ball off. Eckles is glove into left field.
Runners coming home and she will score. Does and the Monarchs take the lead two to one as Alex Coleman drives in the run. Scoring Morgan Smith on a ball deflected off Eckles’s glove. You see, slapped the ball then off Eckles’s glove and with two outs. Smith was going all the way and scored easily. And it’ll be an RBI hit for Coleman who took second as the throw went to home. Clutch hit for Alex Coleman. That’s got Alec. That’s got Alex Thunderberg racing to the press box as the former the Tar Hill alum Coleman driving in a run. Now Katsnik with runners at second and third. We got so many media relations people in this booth. I think we have more media relations people in this booth than we do in a normal tournament. Copsick here ahead of the cow. One and0 still second and third as the Monarchs now have the lead two to one. Cats on it. Taking the pitch. The ball and a strike to Katsune. Coleman’s at second base. Flarity at third. That’s up and in. Two balls in a strike. Holds the swing
and it’s three and one. Goboard on a 3-1 pitch. Takes ball four. Katsone gets on with a walk. Bases are now loaded with two outs. Three walks in the inning by Goldberg. M Barber now to the plate. Big spot here. Base is loaded. Two outs. Three walks in a hit in the inning. Barber takes ball one. And Goldberg, that’s been a theme in this city, has fallen behind hitters pretty much the whole inning. photo. Barbara drills one deep right back wall. Gone. See youa. Grand slam. Mc Barbara. And the Monarchs extend the lead to six to one on the Grand Slam homer by the rookie Mc Barbara. Well, you falling behind as often as Goldberg. Goldberg knew it as you saw right there. As soon as she let the pitch go, that B was contacted. There was no doubt. Matt Barber arguably with the most strongest power in this Monarchs lineup. And a no doubter with the grand slam. And the Monarchs with a fiveun fourth inning. And they have knocked out Donnie Goborn from this ball game. A 61 lead for the Monarchs. We’ll tell you about the new smoke pitcher when we return here in the bottom of the fourth. Monarchs with a five-run lead. It took me that whole time to get it on. I’m putting my rain jacket on. I’m just kidding. I didn’t bring it. in the circle pitching for the smoke. Number 36, Autumn. Jordan, I saw that. Hello. This guy Are you number Autumn Peas is the new pitcher for the smoke. Making her second consecutive appearance in as many nights as she faces Alli Scaggs. Takes ball one. One and0. The Cal Peas came in relief yesterday for Jayla Wright in the sixth inning. this time comes in in the fourth inning with two outs for Donnie Goldberg who just struggled in that fourth inning. The Monarchs made her pay with five runs in the inning highlighted by the grand slam by Mac Barbara. Two and0 the Cal to Scags. Lock it down where the batter would be. That’s a strike. It’s two and one. Two-1 pitch.
It’s a strike. It’s two and two. I’m coming. He’s just trying to get the smoke out of this jam. Get out of the city, I should say, with no further damage. The two- two it’s in the dirt. Ball three. Three and two. The Monarchs have been disciplined with their approach as some rain now starts coming down. Ironic is that. We were worried about it. There were some scattered showers in the forecast and now the rain has come down. We were hoping it would hold off. a little longer. Last night, it started raining about an hour or so after the conclusion of the game, but the rain has picked up. See if they can try to finish this inning. Hopefully, it’s one of those typical summer Florida showers that quickly passes through. as Skagg swings and misses as Peas gets the strike out to end the inning. But not before the Monarchs strike for five runs highlighted by the grand slam by the rookie M. Barbarin. At the end of four, it’s the Monarchs with a 6-1 lead. We got it. A little bit of skin. since I was 14. like short Top of the fifth here in Orlando. A 6-1 lead for the Monarchs as Aspen Wesley here back to work now with a five-run lead to work with. Will face the two three four hitters in the smoke lineup with Woolly, Cody, and Eckles. still raining. The good news is it’s not super hard and considering how hot it was. I’m sure some of these players don’t mind a little bit of a cool off period and cooling it off here a little bit. It was in the 90s. So, I think this has a chance to be one of those showers that hopefully passes through. The thing to watch is the grip of the ball and so far Wesley’s pretty good at one and one. It’s low two and one. Two balls at a strike to count. A two-1 pitch. Willie fouled down the left third base side. Of course, we got a great crew working the elements. He’s got the umbrellas. Kade over there by the dugout. Third base tie. Oh, there’s Jordan the pro. She was ready. Look at that. She was ready to go behind plate. Jordan Pe two. That’s high. Three and two the count just among the camera people we got. My zoom’s not working.
Big pitch coming here with Wesley against the young rookie Wooie. That’s tipped up the middle and through. Base hit and a leadoff single for Woolly. Her second hit of the game comes here in the fifth inning. Try to get a spark rally going here for the smoke. That’ll bring up Jada Cody to the plate. So Cody comes up with one on, nobody out. Second year with the smoke. Part of that WPF championship a year ago is an all WPF player. Takes ball one. Of course, played her career, entire collegiate career at UCF. of
course play had some time with the US national team as well. Played over in Japan for the All-Star series couple years ago. Cody takes for a ball. Two and0 the count. Cody was part of a UCF team that made the NCAA tournament. All four years that she played at UCF, including hosting a regional in 2022. Cody hits it foul. Knights would go to the super regionals that year for losing to eventual national champion Oklahoma.
Can’t even like operate with the song. Cody helped UCF win a conference couple of conference American championships 22 23 ranks among the best in all the offensive categories. It’s top pretty much top three in every single significant offensive category. Top two really. She’s the all-time leader in doubles. She fouled that one off the right side.
I don’t how does this go? And here trying to get the smoke offense going here. Trailing six to one here in the fifth. like how how am I supposed to operate so the two two pitch that’s upstairs ball three gets away and Woolly will take second as the ball gets away from GC now it’s going to try to go to third and will be successful going all the way from first to third was Woolly an aggressive approach and it paid off for her as she’s in third base with nobody Oh, the rain has stopped for the most part now. Some of the faithful coming back. Still some sprinkle, but not as bad as it was a few minutes ago. Cody tomahawks at foul and it’s full. Three and two. Bullpen for the Monarchs up with Sona Hollan who’s warmed up earlier. Ready if called upon.
There you see Sona there in the bullpen. The payoff pitch.
Cody drops a base hit into left field. An RBI single by Jada Cody against the smoke within four six-2 as Woolly scores from third.
Second RBI of the series for Cody. And you see the base hit. Very vintage Jada Cody taking the pitch, finding a hole. It’s why she’s second all time at UCF in RBI’s at hold the single season record at RBI set in 2022. Tries a run there to pull it six-2. Eckles fouls it off at a count as 01. This smoke offense very capable of making up this ground and then some. Oh, it won the count to Eckles with Cody at first base.
I don’t want to get your screen wet. It’s outside for a ball. I mean, that’s I can bring over an umbrella. That would be better. It’s okay. I mean, there’s only two and a half pennies left. I’ll manage.
Won’t be my best shooting, but This is how do I turn on autofocus? Eckles hits a fly ball to left center but playable as the catch is made by Morgan Smith for the first out here in the fifth. Cody staying at first base as Morgan How will come to the plate. First pitch low for a ball. What an o Rain right now. Still raining. Not as hard as it was 5 10 minutes ago. It’s missed.
Two. It’s definitely cooled off the field and I don’t think any player is going to mind that. The two pitch miss there. Three and0. If Hal were to extend get on that would bring up Hill with two on and one out. The three 0 is missed. Low ball forward. Howal gets on on a walk. So two on, one out. Jasmine Hill will come to the plate and that’s going to be it for Aspen Wesley who will go four and a third and we’ll give way. We’ll tell you about the new Monarch’s pitcher when we come back here in the top of the fifth. Monarch still in control up six-2 but the smoke are threatening. in the circle number 98. I like it right. leg. The way you get that right down. New pitcher for the Monarchs in Sona Halajan. secondyear pro, of course, played at UCF on this very field and pitching here for the first time since her senior weekend in May of 2024 when UCF hosted Oklahoma as she delivers the first pitch strike. 0 and one in the count to Kiki Malloy by the way who’s the scheduled hitter here. Mallaloy hitting with two on, one out. Then Hill that’s fouled off. Hill is on deck. So Kiki Mallaloy at the plate and a count is 0 and two with Sona coming out of the bullpen here. He’s been used as a reliever and a starter so far for the Monarchs this year. Dece2 and it hit foul. 0 and2 the count. to Kiki Malloy. The O2 from Sona Malloy reaches for it, pops it up. Foul out of play. Malloy two for two tonight with two singles. Certainly capable with one swing to get the smoke right back in it. They’re hiding. The O2 pitch. Malloy delivers base hit to left field. Her third hit of the night. Coming around and scoring will be Jada Cody on the RBI single by Kiki Mallaloy. And it’s six to three. What a game for Malloy and she hits that one. She has seen the ball well this week and here tonight specifically. Then Cody got a good jump and was going to score easily there as the throw got cut off. And just like that, the Smoker within three now six to three. Now Jasmine Hill will come to the plate. representing the tying run. First pitch, a ball wanted to count. One and0 the count. That is hit up the middle through base hit. throw home is not in time and wide as the run scores as how scores on an RBI single by Jasmine Hill and it’s six to four. Jasmine Hill good piece of hitting dropping that hit. scoring How. Now you’ve got Mallaloy at second, Hill at first for the rookie Michaela Tibbitz in a two-run ball game. And so in a game that was told dominated by pitching early has become an offensive shootout here. The 01 wanted the count. Sona delivers. It’s a dirt runner goes and Malloy takes third and Hill takes second. It’s almost like the rain that dropped heated up the Smokes bats as they have been hitting responding after the Monarch scoring five in the fourth. The two-1 pitch. It’s a strike. It’s two and two. Two two pitch. Timmons slices to right center. That’s going to drop in for a hit off the wall and tie the game at six on a two RBI single by the rookie Tibons as Mallaloy and Hill scores and we got a brand new game at 66. all of this with just one out. And we’ll see as now back the Monarchs bullpen back at work. But we got a 66 ball game as the Smoke has responded with five runs of their own here in the top of the fifth after the Monarchs scored five in the bottom of the fourth. They’re going to have a pinch rudder. The smoke will for Timids with Anna Marie Brunie who started last night in center field. Of course, great base runner in her illustrious career at South Florida. So, makes sense she would be here running with one out here in the fifth in a 66 game. Now Mason. There it goes. Bruny. The throw to second by Garcia is not in time. And right on point, Broody gets the stolen base and gets herself into scoring position. The Woo took their first strike. What? What? the one-1 pitch. It’s a strike and it’s a ball and two strikes the count
to Mason. The one two Mason hits a high pop up left field. Katsson has room and makes the catch in foul territory for the second out of the inning. Big out there by Soda to get Mason. So now top of the order in Jana Jefferson. First pitch high ball one. What an ow the count to Jana Jefferson with Brun at second. Two outs here in the fifth. Jefferson grounds to short offs glove and everybody’s safe. Broody stays at third. And it’s first and third with two outs. Now Woolly, who started this inning with a single to start this comeback for the smoke, fouls it off and the count is 0 one as the smoke has batted around here in the fifth. First and third The award pitch. Jefferson goes will take second without a throw. That ball is sliced to left, but Cats comes in to make the catch to retire Woolly and the smoke. But the not before the smoke respond with five runs in the top of the fifth. And we got a 66 game going to the bottom of the fifth here in Orlando. runs on five hits. One area, two left on the final game series. Tomorrow catcher number. Autumn Peas got the smoke and the Monarchs in a 66 game. Alyssa Garcia to lead it off here in a wild back andforth affair. Six runs, 12 hits, no errors for the Smoke. Six runs, five hits, one air for the Monarchs. Garcia fouls it off. Garcia will be followed by Smith in this inning for the Monarchs. Oh, and two the count. That is outside for a ball. One and two the count. one ball, two strikes the count. That’s miss two at two. Two balls, two strikes. The count. Garcia fly pops up to second. The catch is made for the first out. It’s a one out. That’ll bring up Borg Smith. One out. That’s a ball. What the count? The 10 pitch to grab ball to short. Fielded cleanly by the young rookie. Woolly. Makes the play. And there’s two up, two down here in the bottom of the fifth. So Julia now will come to the plate. First pitch a ball. What an ow the count. The rain has basically stopped just as we thought. A typical summer Florida shower fortunately, which helps cooled off temperatures. It was in the 90s most of the day. It’s a strike and the count is one and one. The one-1 pitch is missed. Two and one. two balls and one strike to count at Smith. Three and one. Julia had that big bases loaded clearing double in last night’s game in the sixth inning that gave the Monarchs at the time a 5-2 lead. And that is miss ball four. So a two out walk given up by Autumn Peas. Pick up Devin Flity to the plate. So now Flity to hit with one on, two out here in the six. It’s a ground ball to third follow. Here we go. The old one pitch. Flity Shabbat there. Popped foul. Malloy. Uh, Flare has struck out and walked in this ball game. 0 and two the count. It’s outside for a ball. One and two the count. One and two the count. Flareity. It’s a fly ball that’s hanging right center as making the catch is Hill to retire the side. Monarchs get a walk strand one. We’re through five here in Orlando on this Tuesday evening. All tied at six. in the circle. Pitching for your number 21 Vickers. What do you want? Swear. New pitcher for the Monarchs. Third one of the night. It’s Jaden Vickers and the lefty coming in in relief here at the top of the six as she faces Jay to Cody. Cody takes ball one outside. What an o to Cody. One for three tonight for Cody. Lined out to left in the first inning. popped up to short and then had the RBI single back in the fifth inning. Swigs fouls it off to the right side and the cat is one and one. The Woodwood pitch. Cody drives a base hit into right field. A leadoff single for Jada Cody. Her second hit of the ball game and gets the smoke off to a good start here in the top of the six. Charlotte Eckles will come to the plate. Eckles will hit here with one on. Nobody out. We’ll see Vickers first pitch to Eckles. Ball one. One and0 the count. So Cody now two for four tonight after going one for three last night. Three hits on the series so far in her homecoming return. Eckles takes a strike. It’s one and one. Of course this is a bit of a homecoming for Eckles herself. of course playing at Florida. Gainesville about two hours away from here in Orlando. The 1-1. Eckles hits it off the end of the bat. It’s a fly ball to left. Catsick is under it. Makes the catch. Cody trying to go to second and she is going to get gunned down by her teammate Stormmy Consulick. Her former teammate AUCF. Guns her down for the second out of the inning. What a throw by Consulick. You’ll see right there. Not even close. Storm’s like, “How dare you? You should know better.”
Play together at UCF in 2024. So, two gone. Morgan How to the plate with nobody on and two outs. That’s a big defensive play
by the Monarchs. That’s hit to the right side. A diving play by Flareity. A throw to first. Not in time. How just gets in there with a single, but a great effort by Devin Flareity. Look at this from a different angle. and Flity. Great effort by Flity there at second base, but Hal able to beat it out with a hit. And now Kiki Mallaloy, who’s three for three here tonight. Three singles in this ball game for Mallaloy, takes ball one. What an O that counts. The one pitch missed two. Two balls and no strikes to cap to Mallaloy. Vickers on the 200 to strike. It’s two and one. They’re in the top of the six. Six runs, 14 hits. No airs for the smoke. Six runs, five hits, one air for the Monarchs. Malloy gets a piece of it, fouls it off, and it’s two and two. And a great sight there. Beautiful skies. Not a drop of rain after that brief rain that came by during the fifth inning. Two balls, two strikes to count. The pitch from Vickers.
Blow it outside. It’s full. Three and two. Payoff pitch coming and that’s high ball four. So Mallaloy gets on for the fourth time in the ball game. This time via the walk. And it’s two on, two out for Jasmine Hill. and an RBI hit in her last at bat in that five run fifth inning. Takes a strike. It’s 0 and one. Oh, it wasn’t a count. The what? Pitch is high for a ball. One and one. Vickers on a one ball, one strike count to Hill. gets it to first. Julia’s there will touch the bag at first to retire the side. Good job by Vickers. Gets out of trouble. The smoke strain two. We head to the bottom of the six. All tied at six. Everybody shine. feel. Oh my god. love your short stop number 23, Kylie. And welcome back. Bottom of the six. It’s all tied at six. Dream the smoke in the Monarchs. And what’s been a good one here in game two of this three-game series. Kylie Sand will lead it off here for the Monarchs. who swings at the first pitch, hits it to left, but Mallaloy is there and makes the catch for the first out as S is retired. One pitch, one out here in the home half of the six. Bring up Alex Coleman to the plate. Coleman drove it a run in her last at bat. That was part of that fiveun fourth inning for the Bod Arts that gave them a six to1 lead only to see the smoke respond with five in the top of the fifth. The first pitch strike and it’s 01. The odd pitch not to strike. It’s two. Autumn Peas quickly ahead here of Coleman who will be followed by Stormy Cats. The O2 pitch fouled off.
Cat remains 0 and2. Six runs, 14 hits. No airs for the Smokes. Six runs, five hits, one air for the Bonarchs. The 02 pitch filed off the net. Coleman trying to get on base here late bottom of the sixth. This was the inning last night where the Monarchs offense came to life, scoring five uh eight runs. They were down two to nothing going into that inning. Scored eight runs on four hits in the bottom of the six last night. To win that game eight-2, try to win this series. A one-two pitch slept fall. So the count remains one and two. Coleman fighting pitches off here. The one two from autumn piece. Coleman pull hits a foul down the right field. Out of play. I have two episodes left. The one two for bottom piece. Strike three. Looking frozen. Coleman goes down on strikes for the second out here in the bottom of the six. PE’s in much more command here tonight in relief than she was last night hitting her spots
like this one right here
to get Coleman. So now that’ll bring up Stormmy Council neck who had a sacrifice butt back in her first at bat and struck out and walked and has scored. That walk came in the fourth inning. swings and misses there to count as Owen Wood. The pitch missed there. Ball one. One and one. They count to Katzon. time call. Game three tomorrow, 6 Eastern from the complex here. third and final game of this series between these two teams. They’re going to see a lot of each other. They’re going to play again up at Georgia on the weekend of July 11th at the new home for the Bark for the Smoke I should say. And of course, these two teams will play again here at UCF at the end of this month if July. Hard to believe we’re already in July. The Smoke, in fact, will host the New York Rise this weekend on the weekend of July 4th, starting on July 4th. Check out the Atlanta Smoke on Instagram for all the latest on that. Check out the Orlando Monarchs on Instagram for the latest. Ball at a strike. The counts swings and misses and the count is one and two. In fact, the Monarchs after tomorrow will have a week off before playing at the Smoke on July 11th. One, two, Kat takes for a ball. Their next home game here at UCF will be July 15th against the Florida Vibe in a twoame series on the 15th and the 16th. Stormy hits it foul. Cat is two and two. We can’t hear him anymore though. Cams can’t.
First, these two teams played at the Bahamas a couple of weeks ago. The Monarchs won the first game of that three-game series only to see the smoke come back and win game two and three. Two and two the count. The swing get a miss as Autumn Peas gets cut to strike out to end the six. A one, two, three, six for Peas and the smoke. We are through six innings here in Orlando on this Tuesday evening. All tied at six. Have all of these games in this song? I knew that was coming. It’s Ross’ fault. You put both hands up. Top of the seventh on this Tuesday evening in Orlando. Game two of this three-game series between the Atlanta Smoke and the Orlando Monarchs. All tied at 66. See Pal Egan checking into the game for the Monarchs as Vickers comes back for the second inning of relief. delivers a first pitch strike to the rookie Timmons. Will be followed by Mason and Jefferson, the scheduled hitters for the smoke here in the top of the seventh. A ball in a strike to count. Timmons had that big art two RBI single to tie the game up at six in the fifth inning. He’s down in the count. One and two. Six runs, 14 hits, no airs for the smoke. Six runs, five hits, one air for the Monarchs. Timmons hits a fly ball to right. Foul. The Monarchs are scheduled to have the heart of the order coming to the plate in the bottom half of the seventh. with Mac, Barbara, Ally Skaggs, and Alyssa Garcia. It was Barbara who hit the grand slam back in the bottom of the fourth. But first things first, it’s this top half of the seventh with Timonss hitting in the eighth spot for the rookie from Ball State. One, two. Timonss up the middle and through. Base hit as Timidons has her second uh excuse me, third hit of the ball game. She’s three for four now and gets the Smoke’s 15th hit of the night.
And the leadoff runner on here to start the seventh. Now Mason will come to the plate who hit a solo homer back in the top of the third that gave the smoke the lead. One to nothing at the time. Mason takes away. Owen won the count. And of course you got the top of the order coming up for the smoke after Mason. The 01 outside for a ball. What did what the 1-1 and that’s lying the center but the catch is made by Morgan Smith for the first out here in the seventh. going to bring up Jana Jefferson to the plate after Mason is retired. Jefferson steps in. Runner at first, one out. And Jefferson lines a base hit in the left center. That’s going to go away to the gap near the wall. Timonss is going to come around and she will score the go-ahead run as the smoke regain the lead seven to six on a go-ahead RBI double by Jana Jefferson. Look at the replay. Beautiful swing from Jefferson. And then once that ball got away the wall, you had a feeling Timids was going to try to score and she did. So a 76 lead for the smoke. Now Woolly, who helped start the comeback for the smoke with that single in the fifth inning that started that five run inning. Billwood pitch
butt by Woolly. Vickers will have no play. A vintage Woolly hit. Her third of the night. A bud single. Jefferson went to third on the play and it’s first and third. One out here for the smoke. So, two on, one out. Jada Cody to the plate. He’s got two hits here tonight as Woolly takes off and will get second without a throw. And now Cody with runners at second and third and one out here in the seventh inning. Smoke with a 76 lead trying to add on to it as Cody takes a strike from Vickers and the count is one and one. Smoke was down six to one in the top of the fifth. It started raining and ever since then though it’s been raining the Smokes off it as Cody lines one to right that’s going to drop in for a hit and get two runs on the board as Jefferson scores. Woolly will score. It’s a two RBI double by Jada Cody to extend the smoke lead to nine to six. Three RBI’s on the night for Jada Cody, four RBI’s for Cody so far in this series. And this was just a vintage Jada to Cody at swing and at bat. And she sliced that one into right field. And with Jefferson and Willie, two of the fastest runners on the smoke, there was no doubt they were going to score. And this big night for Jada Cody and the smoke offense. They now lead nine-6 with Cody at second with a double. Of course, she set the school record here at UCF in most career doubles. D Eckles ball one. One and0 the count. 17 hits on the night for the smoke. The one. It’s a strike. It’s one and one. The count. Smoke led one- nothing in the top of the third on a solo homer by Mason. Monarchs tied it up at one. Scored five in the fourth to take a 6-1 lead highlighted by a grand slam by M. Barbara. Smoke came back with five of their five of their own and excuse me in the top of the fifth to tie it up at six and have scored three here in the seventh to lead nine to six. The two-1 to Eckles is low and in three and one. Three balls at a strike to count. It’s a strike. It’s three and two. Payoff pitch coming to Eckles. Eckles lines it to second. Caught by Flity. She’s going to go to second to double off Cody who went on contact. And that’s a double play to end the inning for the Monarchs. But not before the smoke. scored three runs in the inning highlighted by the RBI double by Jana Jefferson and a two RBI double by Jada Cody gives the smoke a 96 lead as we head to the bottom of the seventh inning on three hits and zero Come on, baby. I’ve been experienc Come on. There you see Autumn Peas try to even up this series for the smoke. She’ll face the heart of the order here for the Monarchs with back Barber to lead it off. Fed by Alli Skaggs and Alyssa Garcia after the smoke scored three runs in the top seven. Al Barber hit the grand slam back in the fourth. Takes ball one. What did O the count mentioned in the last half inning pal Egan was in the game in the alpha. She was in right field for Coleman on that play where Cody hit the double to the right field. The one to Barbara. Of course the the Monarchs need some base runners right now. Down three.
Capable of scoring big runs in bunches themselves. They scored eight last night in the sixth inning. They scored five. here tonight in the fourth inning. Trailing by three. The two to Mac Barbara. It’s outside and right now it’s three and0 to Mac. Game three of the series tomorrow night, 6 Eastern scheduled.
To live in a Hobbit house.
The question is, will it be the rubber game of this threeame series or will the Monarchs be going for a sweep? They’ll need a a comeback here in the bottom of the seventh to put themselves in that position. The three 0. It’s a ground ball to short. Wooy plays it, throws to first for the first out here in the seventh. The third baseman, number 99, Alli SC. And
so Scaggs will come to the plate with one out.
I got to go home.
Yeah, the dry fruit, but they I give him wet food takes low. Ball one. One and0 the count cos. So a ball and no strikes to count. Alli Skaggs with Garcia on deck. Waldo miss there. Touo. So, two balls and no strikes to count. The two pitch is missed first. Strike. Two and one. 2-1. And Peas has come back to maybe the count of
two two. Autumn with a two- two pitch. Grounded follow to third base. Do it again. Again. The Barks need some base runners otherwise they’re going to this one’s going to sting a little bit. They led six to one going into the top of the fifth and it started raining for a little bit. It was that typical Florida summer shower and since then it’s been all smoke to two. It’s grounded at first. Cody is there will touch the bag at first and the Smoker now an out away from evening this series at a game a piece. It’ll be up to Alyssa Garcia to extend this now for the Monarchs. Of course, it’ll be interesting what both sides do for tomorrow. For the Monarchs, Caitlyn Felton, the rookie, pitched a complete game last night in the victory. Do they go back to Felton? They’ve started Aspen Wesley tonight. Soda Holland came in as well as Vickers in relief. So they may go back to Felton. We’ll see. And then of course for the smoke, they started Donnie Goldborn tonight. Autumn Peas has come in relief in both nights. last night for Jayla Wright who went deep into the sixth inning and then tonight Donnie Goldberg who got knocked out in the fourth inning. Still haven’t seen the rookie Billy Kerwood from Delaware. The one outside for a ball one and one they count to Garcia. So a ball and a strike the count to Garcia with nobody on. Two outs here in the seventh. It’s outside for a ball.
Two and one. The two-1 pitch. It’s a strike and the count is even at two and two. The two- two pitch. Garcia fouls it off.
If Garcia were to extend the game, Morgan Smith would be the scheduled hitter for the Monarchs. The 2-2 just jam fouled it off. Autumn P’s lum from Minnesota part of that great lineage of great Minnesota pitchers Sarah Molton Sarah Granowan Amber Fizer the two from Autumn
chess missed and it’s full three and two Payoff pitch coming to Garcia. That’s low ball for good at back by Garcia. Gets herself a walk and gets the Monarchs stays in it. Smith.
Morgan Smith will hit here. Let’s see if the Monarchs call for a pinch runner here possibly for Garcia. Looks like that’s exactly what’s going to be the the case with Scaggs to run again here in the pros. You get to the hitter they hit before that made it out gets a chance to pinch run. So you got Scaggs at first. Two outs for Morgan Smith. who swings the first pitch, fouls it off to the right side and the cat is Owen. You look at the night Smith has had. If she were to get on base and extend this game, that would bring the tied run to the plate for the Monarchs. There’s a strike and the count is 02. Go two pitch.
She went around and that’s a strikeout. And that’s the ball game. And the Atlanta Smoke come from behind and win it. Game two of this three-game series in Orlando by a final score of 9-6. Nine runs, 17 hits. One air for the Atlanta Smoke. Six runs, five hits, one air for the Orlando Monarchs. Autumn Peas in relief gets the win and evens this series up at a game a piece.
