South Albany’s Pharalynn Dickson & Thurston’s Kassy Anderson win Amateur Athlete of the Week
all right another Thursday and another twist for this week’s amateur athlete of the week two performances this past week that were just so good there had to be two winners let’s start on the track first on the biggest stage of the high school level in Oregon the state championships were South Albanesey’s Feralin Dixon won not only one not two but three state titles in the girls 100 200 and 400 meter events for the third year in a row but for the incoming senior she’s got her eyes towards the future take a listen freshman year I honestly was just running i didn’t have like any training like set training really i was just running out there because that’s just what I love to do um but yeah I just it just would be a very meaningful for me to um do it for four years especially since I’ve already done it for three be like why not for the fourth year and now to our next athlete Cassie Anderson the sophomore colt whose three-run homer on Tuesday sent Thirst in softball to its first ever title game in program history she told me on Thursday “Normally in a moment like that she’d crumble under the pressure but after the ball game was over and it was over the fence well the rest was history.” Honestly it was more it was just like a It didn’t feel real like it was just shell shocking like that was that was crazy cuz I’ve never really done that before i mean that was probably you know first time state title game that I’ve actually you know cuz sometimes I can I can really crumble under the pressure sometimes so I mean it was it was just really it was exciting honestly thirst softball will take on Ridge View on Saturday first pitch is set for 6 p.m
For just the second time in the last four months, two athletes in Western Oregon have done something incredible to both earn the right to win KEZI 9’s Amateur Athlete of the Week sponsored by Hunter Communications.
