Lotte’s Brian Sammons pitched 5 2/3 innings Rakuten on the 15th, hit, strike out and allowing no runs, earning his first win since coming to Japan.

Sammons said, “I tried to take the lessons of the last game and pitch in the strike zone and hit the ball hard. I came mound up with that in mind, and I think the offense scored early and I was able to do my pitching, so it was win everyone’s fault,” he recalled.

When asked what he did well, he said, “The best thing was my control of the fastball. I was able to throw it where I wanted. The opposing hitter were hitting it well, but my defense did a good job, so I’m really grateful.”
