Runners and St John’s did a nice job with Runners on base and and and and hit some balls down the left field line in the Gap and took advantage of you know a lot of our mistakes defensively we played fairly clean um the one punn situation we weren’t aggressive enough

At third to come get that ball and kind of extended that inning a little bit um but we just obviously got to do a better job on the mound and you know K’s been really good for us in the fall and spring but you know for whatever reason

Maybe just being opening night um just as not not as Str that being said the Slate are really good out of out of the pen and especially in that fifth inning with uh first and second and no one out made a couple Dale made a really great

Ourselves within two runs after seven um but then obviously we had to go to some some of the younger pitchers and um and and I thought Alex Philpot did a nice job there at T I know he walked to run in but it’s a tough situation to come in

In your first first college outing but at the end of the day you know it’ll be a learning experience for our for our pitchers especially as starters you know it’s really difficult when you go into a weekend and and your Friday Friday night start doesn’t doesn’t set the tone

Because now you’ve got to go to Slater earlier than you want to he’s obviously not available tomorrow the other the other four guys that threw after Slater we could probably get something out of them tomorrow but then that puts more pressure on the next starter to get out

There so you know it’s a lesson to be learned um certainly wasn’t wasn’t expected because he has been throwing the ball well but you know it’s first night and hopefully we get this you know this behind us and you know and I think probably you know just as disappointing
