Duke hurler Ryan Higgins came into Tread HQ for 2-weeks and found himself with a little re-invention heading into the Fall. Coming out of the Spring he was sitting 90-92 with the occasional flash of a 93 or 94.

Having the feeling of knowing there was more in there and command at times not where it needed to be. In testing, I noticed the pulldown was a tall tale to a lot with Ryan. Sitting 100+ and getting up to 102.1 mph. The differences in comparison to the pulldown to the mound was simple.

Ryan held tension in the back leg and was more linear heading into landing vs a pushy back leg and landing closed off on the mound. This was not only an eye opener him but confirmed that there indeed was more velo that could be produced on the mound.

WK 1 – Submax feels reached an easy bullpen PR at 93+ with similar mechanical flaws. Went to the drawing board with a small progression with the constraint of the Core Velocity belt to help catch the same feeling in pulldowns with the back leg to change the direction of the pelvis, ultimately leading to a better direction heading into landing.

Also, a hack was adding in a hybrid slide step to help with a vertical approach with the lead leg as he moved down the mound.

WK 2 – Ryan found himself with an electric pen to close his final week in-house basically sitting his lifetime PRs, along with improving his secondary pitches. ⬇️
